-Latest Metro-North Video in a while. Hopefully to get back to more railroading, in the future!
-Most of the clip may look a bit dark, due to me leaving Auto settings for the video active (due to the sun). Decided not to use manual as it may ruin some of the clip.
ENJOY! =)!
Video Taken: Sept 9, 2011
Nice views of the M1, M3, M7, Shoreliners, P32AC-DMs aka 3,200 Horsepower GE genesis locomotives, GP35Rs, and Amfleet I passenger cars.
Metro North Railroad ❤
Thanks. Beautiful Hudson River, just west of the tracks.Mmmmmmmm
1:56 Sounds like a movie scene
@statoose First question, no, only for MOW service, unless a train with passengers on board dies down, it can pull or push it. Look up "MNR GP-35 pulls" on my profile of a clip of a Genesis with passengers being pulled (Without quote and on the right list search box).
2nd Question, no.
Cool video great view.
that's a lot of cars for that first train
Ah my station! I attended Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry which is basically right next to the Ardsley-on-Hudson station (in the station signs "Mercy College" is listed under Ardsley). I used to take the train to school every now and then. It's a nice station. I'll never understand why only three of the four tracks are electrified. The Northbound Express is not electrified here or at Irvington or Ossining...but it is at Croton-Harmon, Tarrytown and Yonkers etc. Why is that???
Francisco Miranda technically the station in Irvington
Interesting how track 1 does not have third rail.
@bebo2good1 nice to see a fellow nyc transit lover you should go to DC sometimes the MetroRail is pretty cool too cleaner stations down there too lol
Good video, as usual!
Question: Does Metro North ever use their GP35's for passenger service? And do the M7's have bells/ditchlights?
No, they have BL20GHs that do mini bombs due to heed end power restrictions and still P32’s for long distance. It’s for M.O.W. It may pull a maxi bomb in tow but you never see it tow fast, so I don’t know how you think it would have the power to do passenger.
M7s are electric units and don’t do ditch bells, you must be an ARROW III person but that’s not with every electric volt train
