His melodies are sung back to him by devout audience members at live performances and he knows what listeners want from his music. In this excerpt we discuss how less is definitely more when it comes to writing a good melody, how musicians often complicate a good idea and get in their own way, and why "Twinkle Little Star" is a song for the ages. (Though I make a strong case for "Molo Sisi" replacing it as such!)
