7 minutes in and this is the first time someone explained the "baking a texture" process and definition so well to someone like me, who occasionally watches 3D artists but doesn't do 3D art herself.... And I finally understand it. So thank you! :D

Love this interview; the whole 10% extra is a funny thing. I usually think of it as the ‘finishing touches’. I have friends who go insane watching me ‘finish’ my drawings, because I tend to spend more time finessing the image than I do drawing the composition! In the end it pays off though-I’ve also found that it can be a good indicator for sensing when a piece is finished-there’s that narrow line between ‘perfecting’ and overworking/ruining a project. I find that once my excitement starts to turn into anxiety, it’s time to rest my eyes, and often to let it be.
Love the channel, I’m not a concept artist, but I get so much out your insight’s and critiques. Keep up the good work!

Tyler, really love your work and your content here on the channel! Always super informative and inspiring! But it honestly weirds me a bit that a guy spends 90% of the podcast talking about how he followed a tutorial. I'd rather listen to Tobias Koepp himself, the guy is a master. In any case, myself being a 3D Environment Artist I can see the value of the tools and workflows for your audience. But don't get too caught up on tooling/technicalities if what you do is illustration and concept. No need to get caught up with it. Just grab Blender (Free and OpenSource) and the best 3D Concepting tool out there. Check out Jama Jurabaev's tutorials on how he does it (he developed some awesome workflows for this purpose) and follow the Blender community on twitter and such there are so many amazing artists that share their knowledge. Blender has awesome Sculpting, Semi-procedural and even painting (grease pencil) tools that could be just perfect for concept artists/illustrators.

@@DigitalArtcast Sorry if I came across the wrong way, just wanted to say that there should have been more variation on the conversation, perhaps talking about your other projects etc. I actually followed your channel, pretty nice work there as well with so many interviews and awesome content! I know you have specified in the conversation the fact that it was a tutorial, but I think an original project would promote a much more interesting talk, that's why I also suggested a conversation with Tobias (the author of the tutorial). In any case, again, I'm sorry if it reads discouraging or so, that's far from my intention. I actually really liked your newer projects in comparison. Those show awesome evolution! So, again I'm sorry if it came across too negatively. The main intention to post the comment was the suggestion for concept/illustration people to check out those specific blender features and Jama Jurabaev that I think can be very useful for the type of work.
