Most Warrior Cats characters fall into one of three general personality types. Generically nice, angsty teen, or nice but conservative whenever the plot needs a conservative background character. And sometimes they change archetypes between books. I think a lot of people like Jayfeather just because he has a different, consistent and very strong personality.
I really freaking hope Jayfeather apologized to Brightheart off-screen about how he reacted because aside that's something no pregnant woman deserved to hear she had been his first mentor and friend that often helped him with his medical cat duties.
