    WOW! now we DH riders have help for the Uphills and we can now freeride sickkk semi-flat terrain! imagine how fast you can go on the traditional drivetrain, but now we've got this electric drivetrain to BULLET downhills!!!!
    It is so SICK and crazy fun!!

    Hey. I ended up getting the cu2pack like you after our brief chat in the comments.
    Are you using an extended pole in this?
    (Longer than the stock one)
    I'm struggling to get as good a angle
    As you.

    Not sure what Haibike were thinking with that gearing setup. Needs a 42 15, maybe even 14. If it can't climb the steepest of hills what's the point?

  • @jamesbutler606
    @jamesbutler606 8 лет назад +2

    It would be good if more brands got on board with the eDH bike idea, weight is less of a priority esp. with ally, the bike can't climb normally but with a tiny 18t front ring and something like an 11-25 rear you should be able to get up almost any access route, plus like most places that are off piste or closed on particular days for uplift you have it all built in. Would be interesting to know how the head angle affected steering and climbing, appeared to wander a bit or that could be due to you having the brakes incorrectly positioned for your reach and fingers.

    • @ElectricBikeReview
      @ElectricBikeReview  8 лет назад

      +James Butler Hi James, I climbed the same route with a few other ebikes and they were easier to handle. The bike wasn't setup specifically for me or anything... just grabbed a demo so the brake position, frame size and seat were all sub-optimal. I agree that electric downhill bikes is a cool concept and has the potential for affordable less crowded rides ;)

    I wish more e-bikes companies would add an "on road" (20 mph aka USA mode) and "off-road" (sport mode for over 20mph) like stealth bikes and other counterparts. Yeah, I know most people will keep it in sport mode and most likely break the laws in the US road for bicycles. At the same time safety and common sense is crucial when cycling. It's a shame when you do need the power to clime steep hills you're limited to the 20 mph and don't have enough power to push you up.

    How fast does it go?' I road an older one a Giant Mountain Bike that went 20 MPH and went 30 Miles and now some new Electic Mountain Bikes go 50 Miles. I don't know if they go faster than 20 MPH. What does yours do?" I'm thinking of buying one but I want long travel but not many companie's have long travel Mountain Bikes only mid travel. :-)"

    • @ElectricBikeReview
      @ElectricBikeReview  7 лет назад

      Hi Mitchell, I think there's a lot of adjustability if you get a longer stem or seat post and just slide the saddle back a bit. The frame sizes aren't that different from one size to the next so maybe you could do a Medium perfectly but a Small or Large could probably work too :)

      Some of the Yamaha powered Haibikes offer a bit more power but operate at a lower cadence like 80 rpm vs 95-100 on Bosch. I still prefer Bosch personally... IZIP makes a few mountain bikes like the Peak DS with TranzX motors which offer a lot of torque and made it up this hill :)

    We purchased this Vivi 27.5” electric bike and a Tentaquil 26” electric bike for our 13 and 14 year olds. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxUiL0GnyDjP32RJdd660sP8mZk4CRLTCJ The Vivi was much easier to put together. With the Vivi, there was a video link to assist with assembly which made the process easier to follow (we did put the handlebars on upside down, but it was a quick and easy fix). With the Tentaquil, the assembly was not as simple to follow, but after we messaged the company for an assembly video, it was easier and they did respond quickly. The other major differences were that the Vivi has a grip throttle on the right handle (like a motorcycle) and the Tentaquil has a push throttle that you use your thumb to activate. The monitors were also different, so if you’re looking for something specific in terms of changing the bikes functions, pay attention to what the monitor offers. We were really impressed with the overall quality and functionality of both bikes, but if you’re looking for more power and an easier assembly, definitely go with the Vivi!

  • @youspam1000

    It seems pretty redundant. It only has a 18 tooth front sprocket where most downhill bikes have 36+ tooth front sprocket, so you can only pedal it to half the speed downhill and it weighs twice as much. Basically only gives 200mm suspension where you'd otherwise have maybe 120mm. Its just a cushy ride for lazy people, only lazy people aren't gonna drop that much cash on exercise equipment.

    Why would one need electric assist for downhill bike, you couldn't climb up to hill with it. so what is the point of having electric if you can't climb up.
    it worked fine on flat road but for that you don't need downhill bike.
    wayyyy too expensive.

    This guy's lack of knowledge is astounding. Learn mountain bike nomenclature and what things do. i.e. high speed compression does not effect how high the bike rides. That's called sag, and is adjusted with air pressure on that fork. You also don't have sprockets in the back, they're called cogs. The tires are 2.4" wide, not diameter. The idler pulley system for the chain is not unique to Haibike.

      Of course it's not comparable to actual downhill biking. But if you enjoy the freedom it gives you and you want getting closer to a downhill like feel, then this might serve you well. (Even though I'd always suggest to do a custom approach and convert your bike yourself like I did.)
