Another question I get a lot: "have you stopped using a hammock for camping"? The answer is NO! I still use my AMOK whenever I can, but some trips are better to use a tent, and others is better to use a hammock. It is a little bit situational what I choose. I always recommend people who start out with camping to get a good tent, this is the basic setup most people should have before they start adding to their needs and usage. Thank you Mike. The big front and rear porch are great, and so much more convenient that just one large one. Never seen the Cross Canyon before. But it looks like it has good ventilation on top, like you see on the Fjellreven dome tent. I like this. Cheers

Really nice video and good points on the two tents differences. Helsport makes great stuff. The inner height is really impressive, didn't thought that you had that headroom concidering your height. Hey Thomas, Nice closing scene with your logo! Well done! That thing looks kinda big!🤣🤣🤣 I have a Marmot Tungsten 2 tent with two vestibules that I have used over the last two years. Thanks for the video showing another option and the reasons why you choose a 3-person tent. Tell me if it is the same for you: Don't you love the felling of setting up camp for the night? I just LOVE to settle myself in according to my selection of the place and the process of the install. It's like I am building my home! Cheers mate!
Hello my friend 🤩 Haha, that's what she said. I really like a big tent, as long as it does not pack too long or wide. Yeah, and this is also one of the reasons I prefer a bigger tent. You kinda build your home on the trip, and you have a little bit of extra space to move around, store or dry stuff etc. This is a luxury I want to bring on my adventures. 🔥
As I wrote in a comment on one of your earlier videos, I also use the Reinsfjell. But the 2P. It's a very good tent. Before that I also had a tunnel tent (Nordisk Halland 2), but exchanged it with the Reinsfjell for the same reasons as you did. Unfortunately, the tent is a bit expensive, but a good tent is very important. Four more weeks and I'll pitch it at the Lysefjord. And hopefully at many other beautiful locations in Norway. Thanks for your great content! And i wish you a great spring and summer season with lots of exciting adventures.
Here in Norway the 2P Reinsfjell is 10.000,- but the 3P is 7000,- go figure 😂 A good tent is key for a good camping, I always recommend a good tent before anything else. You can add more tents, or different hammocks as well, but the base setup should always be a good tent. Thank you for the great wishes mate, the same to you. Cheers ☕️
Good video, Thomas. For ACT Pyrenees last summer I bought a cheap 30 Euro tent, two persons. Was good enough for summer conditions. I use tents too rarely to justify an expensive one for biking (I have a large and expensive tent for cars) . But for an upcoming trip to Scandinavia one day I will have to invest. But first Romania, Italy and Wales. Cheers, Günter/Nürnberg
I bet summer conditions down there is better than up here most of the times! There is absolutely no reason to spend this amount of money on something you rarely use, i agree 👏🏻 you have some great trips ahead of you 😲 cheers
Good vid TS. I almost always carry a three person. It's worth it especially if you have to hole up for weather. Liking that brand. I use a Heleberg Staika 2 person and others.
Yeah, after I was hold up for a couple of days because of my back locking up. I really saw the need for a bigger tent if you need to stay more than over night. Hilleberg is really great tent, probably the best tentmaker in the world 👏🏻
Nice one! I'm using a Salewa Litetrek III, very light weight, easy to set-up. Main reason for choosing that tent is that you clip the poles on the outside, so you never have the issue that the inside is getting wet while setting up the tent in the rain. Separate question; how to you like the Mosko Moto Reckless 80 set? I'm eyeing towards it for my freshly bought Yamaha XT660R, though doubting if I need the 2 aux poxes.
I have seen some of this tents in action, looks like a great lightweight option. Yeah, i think this is a feature that many takes for granted, to set up the tent in rain without it getting wet inside. I absolutely love the Mosko Moto setup for my travels. It is really great and high quality with great well thought out features. Highly recommended
Now I have the gloves, boots, sleeping bag, ground chair and tent recommended by tshansen. Very happy with all of them. So now I am about to find out whitch helmet he is using. I need a new one...
Haha, that is awesome to hear mate. I have the Klim Krios Pro, but for the love of everything that is holy! Try it out before you order. When it comes to helmets, fit is number one 🤣
Thank you for spending my money on a new tent 😂 Just bought the same one for motocamping! Question regarding the compression bag; how much liter / which size do you use? Keep up the great content! Appreciate it!
Hahaha, you are welcome. It is really a great tent. I had to upgrade the compression bag, I thought the green one I had was just a little bit to smal. So I got a new one that is 20 liters
Helsport make great tents and generally more reasonable price than Hilleberg. The British english terminology for what you call tie down anchor points is `guy lines` (or guide lines), setting up is `pitch the tent` , taking down and packing away is `strike camp` 😉😊
This is absolutely brilliant, words I have not heard been used before. Thank you for enlighten me on this subject. 👏🏻 Hilleberg is the delux edition of any tent I recon 😆
Really good looking tent. I've recently bought the Nordisk Halland PU-2. Also have a simple iglo for 3 persons, but I found it too big and heavy for on my bike when I go camping alone. Maybe this one (but in 2p version) will be something for me in the future. Will only buy a 3p tent if my husband decides to join in more on camping trips. He's a bit of a Cinderella.
I used the same tent (Halland 2PU). But it was a little too short for me and i had the same condensation issues that TSHansen mentioned. Besides of that it is a really good tent. I used it in the alps and on a longer trip to Tuscany, Lombardy and the north italian lakes.
I believe that having a little bit of extra space and luxury on this trips makes it much better to stay on the road for longer. I know some people go all in on lightweight and as small as possible, but I’m not sure that is the best way of doing it. But you will always have the extreme in one direction or the other.
Hi Thomas! I'm thinking about a smaller tent than my Helsport Lofoten pro 3 camp and consider this one (in a 2P version). I know about the topic that the fabric of the flysheet expands when it becomes wet. With a tunnel tent this is easy to fix with the straps at both ends but how is this with a dome tent? 🤔In your videos the tent always looks great but I don't believe that you don't have the same phenomenon😉😅
Hello Stefan. I just got my Reinsfjell Superlight 2 myself. I find it easier to stretch out the tent with the anchor points on the dome tent compared to the tunnel tent. I have the Fjellheiemen tunnel tent. That can sag a lot when it gets wet. I find the Pro 3 of this tent to pack more than twice as much as the super light 2. And I like some of the features on the super light better
Thank you Dusty.... I already have a World Raid first impression video where I talk about some of the key differences for me towards the 790. Maybe I should hook up with mattias soon and do a direct comparison video with his new 890 🔥
Hi Thomas! We are going to norway on our motorcycles in august, and plan to Camp on campsites. Os it possible to use hammocks there or is it only in the Woods? We are going from Oslo round the workers museum in rjukan and round to Kristians sand for the ferry Home.
Hello 🤩 It depends on what campsite it is. Some campsites has good options or places inside to hang a hammock, and others not so much. So i always try to look at satellite imagery from the campsite and see if there is possibility to hang a hammock. The main season is over in August, so there should not be any problems with crowded campsites.
Yes, i have tried it a couple of times! In winter i like a tunnel telt better because you can dig a cold pit and have more space for heating inside the tent!
Can we seat inside (measuring 1.78m) in a chair like Hellinox Zero or Robens Pathfinder without rubbing the ceiling ( or the luggage net)? Your version of the tent is not the SuperLight, right?
This is the pro, not the superlight, that is correct! I can easily sit inside with my helinox ground chair, but not tested with my other helinox chairs, i tend to favourite my ground chair
I am curious on how the pack size compares to the Amok hammock set up? As I have less luggage space on my DRZ400 than you on your T7WR. And my current tent has a very large packed footprint.
The AMOK system packs smaller than when I bring the tent. When I go camping with my AMOK, all my sleeping gear and my sleeping bag fits inside the stinger, but when I use the tent, I need to bring the sleeping bag in one of the side pockets.
Hi Thomas. I bought the exact same tent last February and took it for a first trip this week. However the tent was leaking( had quite some rain…). Not sure if it was leaks or condensation but via the mesh openings in the inner tent quite some water dripped in and got me wet. According to Helsport the threads will expand over time and the tent will be leakfree. But I have a hard time believing that. Did u have similar experiences? And how did u solve it? Thanks!
That is not good to hear🤔 no, i have not had similar experience! I have had condensation, but not leaking like you describe here! I have a hard time believing that as well! The tent adjust over time? Hahaha, worst response ever
@@tshansen May I copy your procedure to put the tent into a compression bag? 😊It would really free up some extra storage. I guess this will make sure that a moist tent is evenly moistened when unpacking in the evening? 😆
@@MopedWanderlust Hahaha, feel free to copy what ever you like 🤣 you can be sure the whole tent Is evenly wet every evening when you set it up. easier to dry that way 🙈
Yeah, it is an expensive tent you will probably have for the rest of your life if you take good care of it. Only on the inner tent, not the outer. This is made for 4 seasons and nordic climate
Thank you Kim, hope your bike is going well. It is somewhat expensive, I agree, but this is a tent you will have for generations if you take good car of it. 👌🏻 So if you use it as much as I do, it is a cheap investment 🔥

Tjena tjommi! I have been watching a lot of your videos lately and I've been wondering.. when you go on your adventures, approximately how many hours do you drive each day? And also, what’s your max and minimum hours that you would drive on a day? /Curios swedish neighbor :)
Tjena Oliver. Well, I have a own "rule" I follow on all my trips, I want to set camp between 18 - 20, so I'm finished setting camp and have made me something to eat before it's getting dark. I try not to ride or plan more than 300 - 400 km each day, but that can variate a lot. I try to enjoy the trip, not getting to a certain place. So if I'm really into video I drive way less than if I just ride. How many hours I stay on the bike depends on when I leave camp. Normally I try to get going before 10 in the morning.
Yes, there is a dedicated footprint, i have it on in this video! It is really good, in heavy wind as well, but i did not have footage of this to include 😔
That looks a really good tent, I have the Naturhike mongar 2, it was only £130 but it has good reviews for motorcycle camping. Maybe this tent you have may be my next tent giving the room it seems to have and packs down so small 👍 do you use davinci resolve for editing?
Nature hike has some really nice tent for a fraction of the money (compared to other brands) That is always hard to beat. Yes, I use DaVinci Resolve for all my video editing. Either on my iMac or my iPad 👏🏻

@@tshansen A camper's life can be much easier in the dry south ;-)
@@enduromotorradtouren Hahaha, I have heard some legends about this, but I'm not sure if I want to belive it 🤣👏🏻
@@tshansen Thomas ;-)
Thanks
👏🏻🔥
@Capt. Blueberry I'm lucky. Am only 1.62m tall/short. Don't need to think of the length. Will keep in mind about the condensation. Thanks.
Haha, he's bit of a Cinderella... best comment so far 😆 But as we are getting older, I can totally relate to the need for comfort. 😇
@tshansen You know you are giving me an open shot to give you an evil comment, right? 😜
@@feanythmayosh5525 Well, yes, but I have to be honest 🤣🔥👌🏻
Hi Thomas, could you give me any advice on which sleeping mats are good?
There are many great ones! Thermarest, mammut, exped, amok, etc! You need to check the R-value and that it can take on some cold temperatures
I have always liked a bigger tent. Room for all my gear on days or nights that when the heavens open up, as they seem to always do. lol!
@@tshansen Other features beside the packing size? I didn't recognized too much about it. Maybe I should take a closer look.
Really good vid man! Would you be doing a 890 vs world raid vid in the future? Looking forward on you opinion on these
Thank you Dusty.... I already have a World Raid first impression video where I talk about some of the key differences for me towards the 790. Maybe I should hook up with mattias soon and do a direct comparison video with his new 890 🔥
Nice video. Good review. Wich Drybag do you use for the tent? Have a nice day. Greetings from Austria 🇦🇹
Thank you mate. I use a cheap one from Biltema. You can find this cheap in almost every sport store. Cheers
Looks simular to the Exped Orion III tent 🙂
Yeah, it shares a lot of the same features, but the Orion has much smaller inner tent, that is to small for me with my 2 meters.
@@tshansen thanks for the answer! Is it bad with the mosquitos mid/end august so far South? Ser you out there 😎
Do you have any experience with heating in the tent in wintertime??
Yes, i have tried it a couple of times! In winter i like a tunnel telt better because you can dig a cold pit and have more space for heating inside the tent!
Can we seat inside (measuring 1.78m) in a chair like Hellinox Zero or Robens Pathfinder without rubbing the ceiling ( or the luggage net)? Your version of the tent is not the SuperLight, right?
This is the pro, not the superlight, that is correct! I can easily sit inside with my helinox ground chair, but not tested with my other helinox chairs, i tend to favourite my ground chair
@@tshansen Thank you.
@@tshansen Thanks.
If I wouldn’t have already the Exped Orion … same same but different. 😊
Yeah, the Orion is much the same, the only downside with that tent for me ( I did consider it) was the inside dimensions.
@@tshansen May I copy your procedure to put the tent into a compression bag? 😊It would really free up some extra storage. I guess this will make sure that a moist tent is evenly moistened when unpacking in the evening? 😆
@@MopedWanderlust Hahaha, feel free to copy what ever you like 🤣 you can be sure the whole tent Is evenly wet every evening when you set it up. easier to dry that way 🙈
What boots are you wearing, and are you recommending them? Thank you in advance.
I wear the Sidi Adventure 2 Gore tex boots. On my second pair now, so yes. I can really recommend them 👏🏻
Very cool tent for some reason they don’t sell them in Canada….bummer !
I thought they sold it everywhere, sorry to hear that mate. Cheers
Seems like a great way to show a great tent for your needs. By the way, what camera did you use to film you setting up the tent?
Thank you Adam. I used the Sony a7siii for all the shots in this video 👏🏻
Pretty steep price. Does it have double layer doors (mesh and fabric)?
Yeah, it is an expensive tent you will probably have for the rest of your life if you take good care of it. Only on the inner tent, not the outer. This is made for 4 seasons and nordic climate
Hey Thomas! How tall are you? Nice video!!!
Hello Rocco 🔥👏🏻 i’m 2 meters tall or 200cm 🤪
Looks like a great tent Thomas but i the Price is also in the hugger end 💸 , not for this Year gear budget 😢😉
Thank you Kim, hope your bike is going well. It is somewhat expensive, I agree, but this is a tent you will have for generations if you take good car of it. 👌🏻 So if you use it as much as I do, it is a cheap investment 🔥
@@tshansen the bike is almost as i want it and looks better the me 😜, i now that hellsport tents are great , and one day i will have one . But for now i will handle with the Camp gear i have , hope for a great season with more km then last year
@@kimkelberg Great to hear my friend 👏🏻 Enjoy every second of it. Hope to get much more time on the road my self this year
Tjena tjommi!
Is there a dedicated footprint available. How is it in heavy rain?
@@tshansen I have only just started to use DaVinci resolve on my iMac, there is a lot to learn🤘

Do you prefer the tent over a hammock?
Depends on the situation! I would not be without any of them! If i camp over the tree Line there is better to have tent, or if you have rally poor weather! But it is much more comfort in a hammock and so much better to sleep off the ground!
Wow Only 4.7kg! That is a heavy tent. Mine weighs 1.2kg and now looking for another under 1kg
Under 1kg? We call that a tarp 🤪 4.17kg is not that bad for a 3 person tent! Not bad at all

Hahaha, not in that way, no 🤣👏🏻

Noraly............."what's a tent???" 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I have my old one from 1988 from going to forest fires out of state. 1 man. We all lived out of them for 2 weeks. My gear fit fine. Besides, the others would laugh if you had a tent for 2 or 3 people when you are the only one in it. 😁 Forest Rangers do not want to be called Girly men. 😂 Interesting. thanks.
