  • In December 1994, Joann Katrinak and her 4-month-old son, Alex, mysteriously disappeared from their home. A new DNA technique ended the mystery, in one of the first cases of DNA being successfully used in a criminal investigation in the United States.
Real FBI cases are recounted through reenactments and interviews with law enforcement and forensic scientists.

But why did she do it? Jealousy? Not sure what her motive was?

@@1223steffen Have you made yourself available to documentaries that make a compelling case for her innocence? There's also an extensively researched book by Tammy Mal revealing the case to be a poorly and corrupt investigation. Don't judge without knowing ALL the facts.

Sandra Bentley This was a wrongful conviction. It was poorly investigated and involved a great deal of corruption by the cops and DA's office. There are other documentaries (video and audio) and a book which make a very compelling case for her innocence.

I thought she was guilty when I saw this in the 90s. I've watched new true crime shows that now make me think the husband did it and set his ex up. I recommend searching her name and watching newer true crime reports about it.

Why does no one see how way “too happy” like over joyed this poor woman’s husband was at the courthouse that day that patty was found guilty… the proof is written all over his face. Disgusting that no one points this out. Also, I believe he took her to Colorado for months before returning back to PA. I think he thought maybe he could convince her to stay or bend her to his will threw fear but there came a point where he either lost his temper or realized his plan wasn’t working. His family is probably part of it too because who doesn’t immediately worry when someone who says “I’m heading over” doesn’t show up? What mother in law doesn’t then call her controlling son to either grip about the thoughtlessness or be generally worried?? Makes zero sense to wait until someone calls you and then say well about 6 hours ago she was supposed to go shopping with me but never showed up. I’d expect this from a friend of hers not particularly close to him but not his mother.
I also think at some point he had to speak to his father and brother in law at one point to establish his alibi. He probably told them I’m the husband and it will just look bad. They probably thought no harm in it. It framed that poor woman because the opportunity presented itself when she called and got into what he framed as a rude rejection type of argument. Living with a partner like this man for 10 years gives me my suspicions. Because my ex was also this quiet, loaner type and I tell you he was one of the smartest men I knew. He also inaccurately portrayed his wife as sharing his “dream” for living as a hermit mountain man despite her closest friends saying otherwise.

Wtf are u talking about? Youre saying the childs father had something to do with it? Where do people like u come up with this stuff. This is like a 50minute re enacted show about this case. If they jad any proof or suspicion about the husband they probably investigated it. This is a 50 minute tv episode. Im pretty sure all the people working for months for this case knows a little better than you. Not everything is some conspiracy. Also where did they show the overly happy husband when she got convicted. If i was in that situation i would as also be incredibly happy that my psycho ex would go away for life for killing the love of my life and my son

Also you call the murderer a "poor woman" did u understand all the evidence. You mean he planted the crappy 22. In some yard sale which only fires once, that the woman then buys with her that time boyfriend and he tells the cops about it. Get a grip. Also did u not hear that she confessed?

This video, like so many others which seem to revel in exaggeration, is a gross presentation of the case. For instance, they show the victim (with her baby) being forced at gunpoint in broad daylight to the car..... very conveniently having no-one present to witness this daring act. This was a scenario speculated by the prosecution at her trial.... but this video goes one better by depicting it as if that's how it actually happened! But this isn't the only falsity.... it is littered with scenes which were only theorised at her trial, which this video sees fit to show as if they're fact. The whole case of the prosecution at her trial, if one looks at it logically, defies commonsense right the way through... from motive to actually doing the crime. Does anyone actually travel more than 500 miles (and then return) in a vehicle which is barely roadworthy (without a single witness), simply because of being rebuffed on the telephone? And if killing was the motive, why go through the risky measure of taking the victims to a field miles away and then commit the heinous act, when it could have been done in the house and the killer be on their way home immediately after. This is a sad case of wrongful conviction and needs to be investigated and brought to retrial.
