That's looking really good now John, The weather has finally given us a break up here on Long Island, 82 degrees and only 49% humidity which translates into a beautiful Summer day, Finally!! I hope some relief gets to you soon as well. I bet that air conditioner makes that little shop the best place to be at your place, Even nicer than in your house. I look forward to the next installment...
Wow, it looks like a jukebox all of a sudden, A jukebox like the ones we would see many moons ago. Hang in there John, you're rounding the home stretch.
You'll be opening and closing the lid all the time anyway. Once you own one of these that's working and a few records you'll notice you're shuffling records around every day! That's a good thing!
John, Wesley just got 20+ new old stock selenium rectifiers from a radio repairman who is closing up shop. He said they don't go bad from sitting, only from use and mainly from filter caps going bad. He'd be happy to send you one if you know what you need. -Jim
Jim and Wesley, Hello again, my friends. It's as usual very good to hear from you. I trust you're all doing well. Selenium rectifiers receive both positive and negative opinions from vintage electronics repairmen, everything from they work just fine to they're nothing but dangerous, fire hazard junk that should always be replaced with modern diodes. Which side is correct is anybody's guess. So not being an expert, I've opted to err on the side of caution and go with the diodes. Besides, diodes are small, cheap, plentiful, very reliable and easier to work with. Wesley, please know that I very much do appreciate your considerate offer. Now I do know that the state of Maine does have placer gold deposits here and there. I'll be more than happy to accept some of that. LOL Take care, folks. Regards, John
Your juke is turning out to be a very beautiful machine John. Quite possibly you might have to get those required decals produced by a local screen printer, or local signs, and poster printer. Just a thought. I had to do that in the past as decals for antique items were no longer available, and reproductions were not being produced those days. Phil.
Phil, How odd it is that nearly everything for an antique jukebox is now available in repro...except for those decals. Having them reproduced would cost more than they were worth. Maybe some enterprising type will eventually fill the need by coming up with repros. Regards, John
Hey John, why don't you have someone take a few good pictures of a similar Seeburg jukebox's decalls somewhere and send them over to you? You could then send them to any vinyl repro company and have them print it out. I'm sure some of your viewers would know where there's a Seeburg and take a few good close-up pictures of the original decorations :) I predict this series will end by episode 89 or would it be 99 ? ;) Keep up the good work!
Times change, Robert. Who would have thought that there would come a day in America when a dope addict could shoot up on a sidewalk outside a restaurant and not be bothered by the police, yet inside that restaurant a waiter or waitress was risking jail time by giving a customer a plastic straw? Regards, John
well I do declare, it's coming together. is the floor ready in the house? me thinks the gang will be having sodas.and milk shakes to the juke pretty soon.

This jukebox was built 2 years before I was born. Back when music wasn't nasty.
