Domestic US political affairs should not be dismissed. They are important because the US is not immune against civil uprisings. However, US foreign policy is a determining factor for the countries direction. Foreign policies also affects domestic policies because wars have to be sold to the public and resources allocated. The "Black Box" that radiates outward, as Tarik says, makes sense from the perspective of someone living outside the US. The future of the US will, however, be decided by its foreign policy.
I can understand Elon Musk voicing his political opinions in Germany. After all, he is a major stakeholder in Germany with his huge Tesla factory in Brandenburg. It is only natural he wants to protect his German investments. However, what are his connections to Britain?
