Even for a car guy, more a true Ferrari guy who has 12 different Ferrari models in my garage alone, I have to confess I love the Portofono especially its softness, and its confortness. I don’t desire to have a hard car drive hard everyday. This Portofino fits my need for a softer, comfort car for that day, it is right there to fulfill the desire.
"For those of you who just want to tootle around town and want the prestige of the badge". "It's not special enough for a place in the garage". Ok, especially if you are The Car Guys looking for a super car. Got it. Me, I've had my time in super cars, did some running with the bulls, been chased by the cops, challenged by the Chevys and pursued by every minivan owner with three kids, a dog and an iPhone. Honestly, I'm done trying to squeeze my Lamborghini into the confines of a busy metropolitan area and it's outskirts. I live near NYC and it would take a day's drive to get far enough away to give my machine the room to really open it up. It's been like dating a supermodel and it's wearing a little thin. I don't care to be noticed, but I want a precision machine, Italian styling, highly skilled craftsmanship and the pedigree of a Ferrari. And, the Portofino checks all those boxes. In my opinion, it is a gorgeous machine.
I agree with OP this is the only Ferrari I would buy, living in NYC, not everyone wants a flat out space ship looking light speed going super car, if I had the money I'll get this over everything else, it's good looking exotic quick enough and badge prestige.
Portofino is a fantastic car that does exactly what it was designed to do. Not all ferraris are supposed to drive like a 458 speciale... A certain demographic wants a comfortable luxurious and sporty ferrari that does not wake up the whole street when it starts. A ferrari to cruise along the french riviera... its perfect for that. i'm sure every wife will prefer a portofino over the 488.

In my experience a convertible is so much more enjoyable then anything else on the road. With hard top you can use it whole year round, and remember those old most beautiful places on the coast are usually accessible on the B or C roads (narrow, bumpy roads), so in my opinion this would be the closest thing to a perfect car for me. It's beautiful, practical, still fast when you want and comfortable enough for long drives and last but not least - i't a Ferrari. I'm really impressed with what they have done, holding back but not really if you know what I mean. Remember, to be really loved - you need to have some flaws.

I think the car looks amazing and a lot better than the California. I few reviews I have seen seem to have the same opinion as you, that it's not a race car Ferrari.
@@TheCarGuysTV Actually you are one of the only negative reviews on the New Portofino right now... google it and see for yourself .. your opinion is definitely in the minority group. Of course you are certainly entitled to your opinion just as the other positive reviewers are. I checked out some of your previous reviews and you seem to put down other turbo boosted cars you have reviewed.. .You seem to praise your 458 and claim its even better than the newer 488 .. again your review and opinion is in the low minority group. your partial to naturally aspirated cars? Is this it ? Its hard to fight it though thats been the new trend among all the top auto makers obviously .. turbos are the new norm in performance and efficienc.. and they keep getting better and better. To say the Portofino is "soft" , like some did about the California does not seem to be the right term anymore for the Portofino .. again your entitled to it .. The Portofino has 29 more HP and 160 more in torque than your 458 . Car and Driver has the Portofino going 0-60 in 3.1 seconds and 1/4 mile in 10.9 seconds, . How is that soft?.. Perhaps does it accelerate too smoothly and not as abrupt compared to the 458? The numbers suggest the Portofino is as fast as your 458 or very close to it... In summary the Portofino may not be as loud, abrupt, bumpy and low to the ground.. But thats what many like about it.. and this is why Ferrari designed it.. It will likely be the top seller again. Cheers
So he wants every Ferrari to be one of those things that no one wants to actually drive after a few weeks? Look at the used market, Every Ferrari has less than 5000 miles on it, even if it's 10 years old.
Having just been introduced to the brand and the various models I chose a Portofino. Checked as many reviews as I could in the process - drove a lot, reviewed a lot. Must say this was the least balanced, focusing on the negative where the opportunity arose, and failed to acknowledge the positives with a flippancy and condescendence. Each to his own I guess.
Exactly. Mine is my own opinion - coming from someone who owns 6 of the brand, and deciding if a Portofino has a place on the collection. For me, no - but I appreciate others may love it.
Thank you for being one of the few RUclipsrs to keep it honest! After driving the Portofino, I couldn't agree more that it's just TOO soft. The steering is even worse than an Audi and the car has no soul or edge. The fact that there's not even a 'Race' setting like every other Ferrari tells you everything you need to know. It's not a bad car by any means but this is not a car that traditional Ferrari buyers will enjoy driving. It's now very easy to spot which RUclipsrs are full of baloney and simply looking to cater to Ferrari corporate so that they can get on Ferrari's A list. It's a bloody shame but we are grateful that you're at least not a sellout.
Really enjoying the channel fellas! I watched this after watching a Vehicle Virgins video and the difference is staggering...it’s like watching a kindergarten class and then watching a graduate program class, well done!
I fully respect the 100% honesty. However how suitable are you Sir to review a car type you personally dislike? Isn’t it like me not wanting to have a tv reviewing the newest upper class Samsung tv, and then stating it’s not for me? I think you should judge it by how good it is for its intended audience, not for you personally. We understand you only want a pure-race Ferrari and your message that Portofino isn’t one, but how good is it for its intended audience? That’s the answer we didn’t get in detail. PS I liked the video and respect you and your effort, but the hopefully constructive criticism remains. Cheers PPS the newer Portofino M is out, it’d be wonderful if you tested that one, too. Thanks.
Hello guys!! First of all, I love all your videos, I think they have true to life opinions and they are so much fun to watch, specially because they are simple, they seem personal and they are very well produced. Second, it would be great if you make more videos of comparisons like the 458 vs 488 video, I loved it and started watching your channel because of that video. Cheers to you, straight from Brazil!!!!
great review...informative...balanced, frank and forthright …. I genuinely think owning such a range of cars gives you an edge when reviewing....you live with these type of cars...and importantly drive them often...it makes a big difference....your review content is excellent...TOP GEAR take note ...its about the cars ….
I was half expecting you to start drinking a glass of fine wine as you reviewed this very civilized Ferrari....You may wish to cleanse your Palate with a spin in... I don’t know...perhaps a Pantera...
The Portofino is a perfect GT!! I do not know what you did wrong, but when I had the opportunity to test this car in Italy, I had a lot of fun, especially with all the assistance off, I do not think there are any cars in the category of the height of this car!
He didn't do anything "wrong", he just has a completely different reference frame than you have (his fantastic car collection: F40, 360 strad, Speciale etc). So from that point of view, he is 100% right.
One of your best reviews! 👏👏👏 It is great that you avoid repeating a lot of the stuff we can all find on the web, and focus instead on providing useful insights based on your experience.
I rented it for three days and Loved it! I loved that the ride wasn't to hard, personally loved the sound, not to much, just perfect! It's the everyday Ferrari!
Loving the tech in the Portofino and it looks great. Its a great entry into a Ferrari. You're making me think about your Jag Type R - I would prefer that with the amazing exhaust note!
How is the space inside? I'm 6'1" tall so just curious if I could sit comfortably and also have my elbows rest properly. Not a car guy so this would be good enough for me.
I test drove the Portfino M 8-speed and it left no great impression on me! I have owned two Jaguar XJ-S V12 convertibles and those are a pure GT cruiser. The Portofino M is in the same category. It was fast but going fast was not it’s thing! It is an open topped cruiser. I didn’t feel special in it. It also felt cramped in the cabin somewhat like a targa top car. I want another proper open car. Like the old 275 GTS for open topped grand touring.
You have some fabulous track Ferrari’s, I don’t think you need this one. You would be buying it for the sake of buying it. Save your money. Nice comprehensive review by the way.
Yep - I'm the "certain demographic" it's aimed at. My days of losing my licence on a Fireblade are well behind me. Should be fun around Cornwall and on the run to Grimaud festival. Cornwall mostly has 1 horse powered modes of transport..........
Thanks, Jean-Philippe. Fortunately, we are entirely independent, we own all our cars, and we don’t have to pander to any manufacturers because we’re not trying to get freebies.
The California/Californa T made up for 25% of Ferrari car sales... So it is hard for Ferrari not to make them. Personally I think this car with a Maserati badge on it could lift that brand out of hibernation.
I personally really like the design of the portofino, i think it looks better than the first generation california and california t, but yeah.. probably not the ferrari i would buy. If i had the money to buy a grand tourer from ferrari i would personally go for an old manual 550 maranello. But that’s just me😂
I guessed straight away you wouldn't like it damian, I have never sat in any ferrari myself so cannot comment on driving dynamics, but in terms of looks its still too tall and not wide enough in my eyes, the same as the california before it. So that must affect the handling characteristics somewhat. To me it just seems more like a celebrity hair dresser., or even the ambassador's wife type of car. Might sound a bit harsh, but maybe that's whom it was designed for who knows. I appreciate your honesty when reviewing cars damian, as opposed to the usual 'influencer' channel suspects. That are all paid, wined and dined for favourable reviews and marketing. Keep up the good work. Sir. Kind regards Ian.
Thanks for your comments, E92. You’re right, the Porto has an intended audience who I’m sure will love it. Do I like a diluted Ferrari? Of course not - it offends me, but now it’s a public company, Ferrari has to enter these markets. Just imagine how depressed I’ll be when the SUV comes out
Opportunity strikes as Ferrari softens. Enter stage left the Maserati GranCabrio MC....Great soundtrack and with some updating it could take a bigger chunk of this cruiser's market......however, I'm guessing Fiat won't let it.
I never liked the California, but i think the Portofino looks miles better. Maybe not the proper thrill machine, maybe they should have called it the L.A. Ferrari (as in Los Angeles, not "The" Ferrari) . Turbo's seem to ruin the sound of most cars they are on, but somehow they managed to make the F40 sound brilliant and a few other turbocharged cars.
Great honest review again. I agree its not a car for petrol heads like yourself, it will sell well though. There is only one reason for you to consider buying one, to get on the list for the LaFerrari replacement 😉
Thanks, Andrew, appreciate the comments. I’m sure criticising a Ferrari means I would get a LaF replacement - fortunately I don’t really fancy one anyway. Phew !
You really couldn't hide your feelings on this one, disappointing as I really wanted you to like it as even without a test drive I have a soft spot for this car. Still another solid honest review.. Thanks
I think that it is not only a Ferrari problem but a sports car of today problem. Engines get smaller and turbocharged and they are not desirable enough anymore. I understand why this is done but I dont have to like it and I believe if it continues like this there will be a time in the future where sport cars become irrelevant.
TheMpamMpam Appreciate them while they last, before you know it the EU will make petrol cars illegal to produce so everything will be hybrid with very low displacement or full electric. Everything will eventually be electric in our lifetime and we will look back to these days
Drive a 488gtb and you'll see it's still a an awesome car. Especially when you can get a tune and straight pipes and add 100hp safely and it'll sound crazy
This guy said he doesn’t understand why it has launch control it’s not that type of that. Buddy it’s a Ferrari it’s exactly the type of car to have that. This car is as fast and the last generation Ferraris best model.
I remember when i took out a Ferrari California from car club ecurie25 (way back when) and i disliked it before i even drove it. portofino looks better than Cali but just not right for the true enthusiast! good vid - thanks
The original Cali is better than the T or the Portofino simply because it’s got a NA V8 and it sounds brilliant. Cars like this aren’t about racetrack performance, they’re GT cars, they should be easier to drive than a 488, not everyone wants a super car.
This is unfortunately a terrible review. If you are reviewing a morocycle, you don't say it is bad because it has 2 wheels only. Same thing, you are not reviewing Ferrari's mid engine V8 and to trying to compare the cars is either arrogant or naive.
The sound of the car was so bad for a Ferrari. Could you compare it to Porsche 911 Carrera 992 sound? You mentioned a bad sound briefly in the review of 992, but I would like to hear more about that important part of any sports car. A video about that would be awesome.
TheCarGuys.TV Thats a shame, i hope you both enjoy your day! I will be looking for another top 50 things at Goodwood video 😊 Loving the chanel still keep it up!
TheCarGuys.TV it was different but still funny and valid .. but if you didnt get any views its probably worth just enjoying the day indeeed .. would be good to see some car features if you have access i guess again its hard with the amount of people! Doo enjoy and thanks for all the content you guys bring, never loose that genuine feel you two give!
Nah dont add it to the garage, the looks just do not do it for me at all! prefer the looks of the California although wouldn't get one of those either.
We know this is the Female Ferrari, nothing wrong with that, it is lovely. And really compared to the average car it is still a super-performance vehicle.
When you compare Ferrari Portofino to a Jaguar you lost me already. The Portofino is designed to be a bit softer and comfortable with an edge of course it is not the F12 or SuperFast but it is just as enjoyable and sensible. It is a great car!!!!
Fair review. I'm a little sad that Ferrari feel they need to make 'soft' cars. They'll sell thousands of course, but give me an open gate manual with a screaming V8 and no electronic aids anyday. Shame they don't make em like that anymore.
The Portofino just tested going 0-60 in 3.1 seconds and the 1/4 mile in 10.9 .. How is that a " soft car" ?.. perhaps another term?.. A more " practical " or " a "GT" car ... ?
I think you are too much influenced by the performance even when you judge the line, so you cant be more objective.. becouse the line are stunning for me, and no, the viper or corvette its just too much different to compare with.
I test drove a Portofino at the dealer which is conveniently located across the street from my house. Interestingly I went in just to look at it but before I could say anything the sales rep said I'll bring it right around for you to drive. I didn't complain. It was their only car that had just arrived. My current baby is a 2014 Jaguar XKR convertible. I was looking for a possible replacement so I was directly comparing the Portofino to the Jag. My first impression as I was driving through the parking lot was that the Portofino sits much higher. I felt like I was looking down at everything. I didn't like that feeling and felt much better positioned in the Jag. On the road the Portofino in comfort mode had a harder ride than the Jag in its dynamic mode. The Portofino would shudder over bumps and the Jag was smooth. The Jag has an active suspension which senses the road surface 10000 times a second and will instantly soften the ride over a bump and then tighten back to race setting instantly. The best of both worlds. The Ferrari is fixed in what ever mode you have it in. Interior wise I did not feel special in the Portofino. The leather almost looked like rubber and the environment was cold, uninviting and cheap in comparison. The Jag has more comfortable seats with sumptuous leather and some beautiful wood trim. The driving excitement just wasn't there in the Portofino. The roar of the Jag's supercharged V-8 was far more enjoyable to my ears. The Portofino may be faster off the line but floor the Jag at 80 and the pull of all that supercharged v8 torque instantly throws you back. As far as looks the Portofino is too busy in comparison. The Jag has the cleanest and most beautiful lines. I texted photos of the Portofino to a friend and she said its kind of cool looking but keep your Jag its prettier. Mind you I wanted and was almost expecting to like the Portofino better than the XKR and was surprised and disappointed at the experience. After a couple of miles on the test drive I told him I had enough and was ready to turn around. I guess it is a water downed Ferrari compared to a top tier Jaguar.
Neat car although you can't park it anywhere without worrying that someone's going to park their old Chevy Cavalier next to it and knick your door with it, or get it keyed. I think I'll stick with domestics and japan imports.
Well for all the comments about those who would never buy this car, but would purchase it only for their wives...I'm about to become a cross dresser...I never realized I was transgender, but I love this car and don't give a damn about '"the track"...but I do love that 488 spider...

Of course you don't want it. You guys just got yourselves a DC2, a proper driver's car! Why have another boring old Ferrari? No, seriously. Good call. It's nice to see that the money you guys clearly have to splash on these things doesn't just go on the newest pretty thing that comes along. If it ain't good enough, it's not coming home! That's really refreshing to see on a RUclips car channel. Btw if you want a back to back comparison with a DC5 against the old DC2 for a video, get in touch. I'd be happy to bring mine along.
Sounds good. Bit more info: it's a 2001, imported early 2018, good clean unmodified example, Champ White with dark blue interior. To all intents and purposes a quality representation of the model. Based in South East, no pressure. Keep up the good work.
This is the wife’s Ferrari, it’ll never go into sport mode and the traction control will always be on, you know the kind of wife I am talking about Cheers
I think it’s lost some of its magic. As you said it’s a boulevard cruiser. If you place your foot down in a Ferrari and you don’t get excited then something is a little wrong - it’s a lot of money for a town cruiser!
Agreed Damian. Not a massive fan of the whole California/Portofino thing although its designed for those Californian cruises so its horses for courses. I just wish the 'baby' Ferrari would be reignited as a new 'Dino' - that would be a thing!
Somone's got to tell the truth and I just wasn't impressed by it. But then it's not designed for me, so I'm pretty sure Ferrari understand that. My collection is for driving and enjoying. I find it hard to sell any of them.
Thanks for the reply Damian. I only live down the road, Brockenhurst and Beaulieu are great backdrops for the vids. Great to hear you actually drive those cars!

So he wants every Ferrari to be one of those things that no one wants to actually drive after a few weeks? Look at the used market, Every Ferrari has less than 5000 miles on it, even if it's 10 years old.
I’ve done 15,000 miles in my 458 - good car that
Having just been introduced to the brand and the various models I chose a Portofino.
Much obliged
I love it. With that beautiful fastback design it’s the new 456m GT to me
Really enjoying the channel fellas! I watched this after watching a Vehicle Virgins video and the difference is staggering...it’s like watching a kindergarten class and then watching a graduate program class, well done!
Wow, thanks, Lama. I’m not sure anything can beat Parker’s unending enthusiasm though. He wins the sunny side award for sure
Cheers
PPS the newer Portofino M is out, it’d be wonderful if you tested that one, too.
Thanks Otavio. We’ll certainly try to do more comparisons. We were surprised how well the last one went.
I must say the snobbery in this review is an abomination....
Thank you
great review...informative...balanced, frank and forthright …. I genuinely think owning such a range of cars gives you an edge when reviewing....you live with these type of cars...and importantly drive them often...it makes a big difference....your review content is excellent...TOP GEAR take note ...its about the cars ….
Thank you very much, Michael
I was half expecting you to start drinking a glass of fine wine as you reviewed this very civilized Ferrari....You may wish to cleanse your Palate with a spin in... I don’t know...perhaps a Pantera...
The Portofino is a perfect GT!! I do not know what you did wrong, but when I had the opportunity to test this car in Italy, I had a lot of fun, especially with all the assistance off, I do not think there are any cars in the category of the height of this car!
SL is one...
He didn't do anything "wrong", he just has a completely different reference frame than you have (his fantastic car collection: F40, 360 strad, Speciale etc). So from that point of view, he is 100% right.
One of your best reviews! 👏👏👏
It is great that you avoid repeating a lot of the stuff we can all find on the web, and focus instead on providing useful insights based on your experience.
Thanks H B. I’m not sure it’s one of our best, but glad you liked it
Looks like a nice daily driver with the eye catching Ferrari badge
I rented it for three days and Loved it! I loved that the ride wasn't to hard, personally loved the sound, not to much, just perfect! It's the everyday Ferrari!
Good for you
I agree, F type R also looks better, as well as the immense noise
Loving the tech in the Portofino and it looks great. Its a great entry into a Ferrari. You're making me think about your Jag Type R - I would prefer that with the amazing exhaust note!
How is the space inside? I'm 6'1" tall so just curious if I could sit comfortably and also have my elbows rest properly. Not a car guy so this would be good enough for me.
From memory, Bobbie, I’d say you’d fit just fine
Based on your existing collection: 100% agree, nothing new to offer. Move on swiftly :) Pista maybe?
I test drove the Portfino M 8-speed and it left no great impression on me! I have owned two Jaguar XJ-S V12 convertibles and those are a pure GT cruiser. The Portofino M is in the same category. It was fast but going fast was not it’s thing! It is an open topped cruiser. I didn’t feel special in it. It also felt cramped in the cabin somewhat like a targa top car. I want another proper open car. Like the old 275 GTS for open topped grand touring.
Now you’re talking
You need glasses or a brain check-up if you see the portofino for a dodge viper that's ridiculous
Or maybe both
Or pull his head out of his ass! Idiot
You have some fabulous track Ferrari’s, I don’t think you need this one. You would be buying it for the sake of buying it. Save your money. Nice comprehensive review by the way.
Cheers, Lawrence
Yep - I'm the "certain demographic" it's aimed at. My days of losing my licence on a Fireblade are well behind me. Should be fun around Cornwall and on the run to Grimaud festival. Cornwall mostly has 1 horse powered modes of transport..........
Set the windscreen wipers to "ferocious".
LOL
Appreciate the honest review.
Good point - perfect as a Maserati
I personally really like the design of the portofino, i think it looks better than the first generation california and california t, but yeah.. probably not the ferrari i would buy. If i had the money to buy a grand tourer from ferrari i would personally go for an old manual 550 maranello. But that’s just me😂
So would I, Matteo 😀
This is a fine example of " damning by faint praise "!
We don’t believe in saying everything is BRILLIANT just because it’s new. Some people do that. We don’t.
Just imagine how depressed I’ll be when the SUV comes out
And I can confirm that wining and dining definitely does not happen. 😀
No matter how rich I become, Mercedes-Benz is good enough for me. The car is just right.
Portofino still sounds much better than the 488 GTB
Opportunity strikes as Ferrari softens. Enter stage left the Maserati GranCabrio MC....Great soundtrack and with some updating it could take a bigger chunk of this cruiser's market......however, I'm guessing Fiat won't let it.
You’re right, Kolinu2, I don’t think the Maserati will ever get an upgrade - such a shame
Looks in the right spec like a mini f12 but just a new California . No you don't need one. Wait for gt3 touring.
Mmmmmmmmm
What’s the name of the red interior leather colour? Is it Bordeaux? It’s quite a lovely shade of red, I must say.
A little spoiled brat revue in tone and tenor. I expected a little more objectivity and analysis. Carry-on.
Bye
Great honest review again. I agree its not a car for petrol heads like yourself, it will sell well though. There is only one reason for you to consider buying one, to get on the list for the LaFerrari replacement 😉
Thanks, Andrew, appreciate the comments. I’m sure criticising a Ferrari means I would get a LaF replacement - fortunately I don’t really fancy one anyway. Phew !
You really couldn't hide your feelings on this one, disappointing as I really wanted you to like it as even without a test drive I have a soft spot for this car. Still another solid honest review.. Thanks
Thanks for your comments, Simon. I had a reasonably open mind, but I’d take a Cali T with the handling pack over this - and save £50k
Love the bigger paddles
I think that it is not only a Ferrari problem but a sports car of today problem. Engines get smaller and turbocharged and they are not desirable enough anymore. I understand why this is done but I dont have to like it and I believe if it continues like this there will be a time in the future where sport cars become irrelevant.
Lots of truth here
TheMpamMpam Appreciate them while they last, before you know it the EU will make petrol cars illegal to produce so everything will be hybrid with very low displacement or full electric.
Thanks, Justin. I prefer the Cali T
The original Cali is better than the T or the Portofino simply because it’s got a NA V8 and it sounds brilliant. Cars like this aren’t about racetrack performance, they’re GT cars, they should be easier to drive than a 488, not everyone wants a super car.
Perfect car for the wife or nanny 😂 In truth this could be the perfect European road trip car !
This is unfortunately a terrible review. If you are reviewing a morocycle, you don't say it is bad because it has 2 wheels only. Same thing, you are not reviewing Ferrari's mid engine V8 and to trying to compare the cars is either arrogant or naive.
You’re not making any sense there, Prof
The sound of the car was so bad for a Ferrari. Could you compare it to Porsche 911 Carrera 992 sound? You mentioned a bad sound briefly in the review of 992, but I would like to hear more about that important part of any sports car. A video about that would be awesome.
flat? this thing has more power than a 458...
Interesting, certainly has its place for Ferrari clients looking for the tourer that won’t kill them.
Will you guys be at Goodwood on Sunday, would be great to meet you both!
Samual Payne sadly only Thursday this year
TheCarGuys.TV Thats a shame, i hope you both enjoy your day! I will be looking for another top 50 things at Goodwood video 😊 Loving the chanel still keep it up!
Samual Payne thanks. No-one really watched that video last year so I might not bother this year
TheCarGuys.TV it was different but still funny and valid .. but if you didnt get any views its probably worth just enjoying the day indeeed .. would be good to see some car features if you have access i guess again its hard with the amount of people! Doo enjoy and thanks for all the content you guys bring, never loose that genuine feel you two give!
Nice Lucas Arts hat!
Cheers
Nah dont add it to the garage, the looks just do not do it for me at all! prefer the looks of the California although wouldn't get one of those either.
Have u seen powerslide lover with this car he has cars such as gt2 rs and 812 SF And And said its for him
We’ve not seen him - will look now
An average Ferrari in every regard, it seems
We know this is the Female Ferrari, nothing wrong with that, it is lovely. And really compared to the average car it is still a super-performance vehicle.
When you compare Ferrari Portofino to a Jaguar you lost me already. The Portofino is designed to be a bit softer and comfortable with an edge of course it is not the F12 or SuperFast but it is just as enjoyable and sensible. It is a great car!!!!
In other words it’s a great car for your wife/girlfriend etc
Bingo!
Sid the Sexist - grow up you dinosaur.
Fair review. I'm a little sad that Ferrari feel they need to make 'soft' cars. They'll sell thousands of course, but give me an open gate manual with a screaming V8 and no electronic aids anyday. Shame they don't make em like that anymore.
Yes it is a great shame, Richard. Happily we still get the 812 and the Pista - happy days
The Portofino just tested going 0-60 in 3.1 seconds and the 1/4 mile in 10.9 .. How is that a " soft car" ?.. perhaps another term?.. A more " practical " or " a "GT" car ... ?
Who needs a super car ? People want it only.
Ferrari trying to be Aston Martin?
I agree with Fahad Khalid
I think you are too much influenced by the performance even when you judge the line, so you cant be more objective.. becouse the line are stunning for me, and no, the viper or corvette its just too much different to compare with.
Bonjour les gars de voiture CorvetteZ06 packZ07 cabriolet full equipment !! Bye super vlog
Totally agree with everything you say about The Portly Fino
Then you are officially my friend
A shaft of wit, as Dr Spooner would have out it.
You won't and shouldn't buy it, don't buy a Jag either. You're hair is not Grey enough for that either. Hugs A
Sage advice, A 😀
Its basically a TT guys. Its not a mans car. Its softened too much
Sort of
I do love the way it looks though at some angles
“Not a man’s car”? Bye bye boomer, your time is up.
I am not exactly sure what was the purpose of this review, yet not everyone has to like the new portofino. Just another personal opinion.
Yes it’s a personal opinion. Of a car I’ve just driven. On my own YT channel.
Well for all the comments about those who would never buy this car, but would purchase it only for their wives...I'm about to become a cross dresser...I never realized I was transgender, but I love this car and don't give a damn about '"the track"...but I do love that 488 spider...
Nah, you guys don’t need it. But you do need that new Ferrari Roma.
Not sure about that
Er, you’re rather missing the point - a Roma isn’t a convertible.
Another really interesting vid :-) It'll sell well in the States I should imagine, we're a bit too hardcore over 'ere :-)
Dear GOD!! what is it that you "Ferrari" people find SO! hard to understand about a GT, it's not supposed to be a track day thing
😂😂😂
Actually you are one of the only negative reviews on the New Portofino right now... google it and see for yourself .. your opinion is definitely in the minority group. Of course you are certainly entitled to it just as the other positive reviewers are. I checked out some of your previous reviews and you seem to put down other turbo boosted cars as well.. .You seem to praise your 458 and claim its even better than the newer 488 .. lol... you prefer naturally aspirated track cars? Is this it ? Its hard to fight the new trend among all the top auto makers obviously .. turbos are the new norm in performance and efficiency.. and they keep getting better and better. To say the Portofino is "soft" , like some did about the California does not seem to be the right term anymore. .. again your entitled to it .. The Portofino has 29 more HP and 160 more in torque than your 458 . The 458 is a great car but its not a GT car.. and not for everyone. Car and Driver has the Portofino going 0-60 in 3.1 seconds and 1/4 mile in 10.9 seconds, . How is that soft?.. Perhaps does it accelerate too smoothly and not as abrupt compared to the 458? Is it too refined and has too much technology in it for your taste for a Ferrari? The numbers suggest the Portofino is as fast as your 458 or very close to it... In summary the Portofino may not be as loud, abrupt, bumpy and low to the ground.. But thats what many like about it.. and this is why Ferrari designed it.. It will likely be the top seller again. Cheers
Do you own a Portofino or have you driven one?
Do you prefer a Giaguar ? Ok man that s your opinion
I prefer the Jaguar F-Type
We gotta let the women have their own model
Of course you don't want it. You guys just got yourselves a DC2, a proper driver's car! Why have another boring old Ferrari? No, seriously. Good call. It's nice to see that the money you guys clearly have to splash on these things doesn't just go on the newest pretty thing that comes along. If it ain't good enough, it's not coming home! That's really refreshing to see on a RUclips car channel. Btw if you want a back to back comparison with a DC5 against the old DC2 for a video, get in touch. I'd be happy to bring mine along.
Thanks, Chris. We may be in touch.
Sounds good. Bit more info: it's a 2001, imported early 2018, good clean unmodified example, Champ White with dark blue interior. To all intents and purposes a quality representation of the model. Based in South East, no pressure. Keep up the good work.
This is the wife’s Ferrari, it’ll never go into sport mode and the traction control will always be on, you know the kind of wife I am talking about
Cheers
Yes, yes I do
Yes, the kind who’ll divorce you if she has any sense.
I think it’s lost some of its magic. As you said it’s a boulevard cruiser. If you place your foot down in a Ferrari and you don’t get excited then something is a little wrong - it’s a lot of money for a town cruiser!
Agreed, no real fiz for me in this car, Michael
Agreed Damian. Not a massive fan of the whole California/Portofino thing although its designed for those Californian cruises so its horses for courses. I just wish the 'baby' Ferrari would be reignited as a new 'Dino' - that would be a thing!
Yes it certainly would be
Disco Volante was a limited edition Alfa Romeo, no? Not a Ferrari.
It was based on the 458 chassis if I remember rightly
key lo Yeah I think it was based on the Alfa Romeo 8C, no? Can’t of been based on the 458 because it’s not Mid Engined.
Correct it was an Alfa Romeo but I didn’t say it was a Ferrari, just that the back of the Portofino looks like it
Ha meridian won't invite you back! What do u do with your collection? Sell them? Or are they investments? Ta
Great to hear you actually drive those cars!
this guy is way off viper are you kidding this is all Ferrari
This guy?
Way better looking than the California.
Pointless car in the UK..plus sounds shit like most turbo cars..Buy it if you've got money to burn
Ir you are so macho get a racing superbike
Hopefully they depreciate like the Californias. In the 90-95k range I can write one off against my business.
What kind of business would allow that?
No dont buy it
Agreed HEKTIC458
Believe me no you dont
Of you're a CHICK perhaps :))
Well heres my comment Dude: go to the parking loft grab your key and go home with your ****** 1.6D VW Golf!
And your point is?
