I mean within the origin comic, its the creativity of the creators that drops onto him and allows him to feel! So you're partially correct. Those who make the AUs, as long as they keep creating, create paint that ink can use and collect for his emotions!

(like this one ) some inks don't have a soul so she achly started out with only on e half of her soul until she almost died and a type of Ink had to use something to save her so they used a save star , but it mixed with her soul so she has half a save star soul

Hard work and determination- just kidding the editing software I use does some auto movement aka tweening. The actual animation program I use does not have tweening but oh well heheh. (that or I just never found out the true way to use it) But I got ahold of Flash (which is a tween GOD by the way).
Yuuup- definitely the worst thing I've ever done- It was mostly just to test the new editing program I was using... the fact that it's so popular is... saddening.
