#Persona4 #TheAlmighty #Reaction
The velvet room is a place between dream and reality, mind and matter. Its form changes based on the guest it is serving. In 3 it manifested as an elevator, because the guest is ascending a tower. In 4, as a limo travelling through fog, because he's solving a mystery. In 5, it manifests as a jail.
It manifested for you, as a concert hall with a saxophone.
High Quality Comment 😎
Hell yeah MC kun.
And in 1 and 2 they are just stores at a mall or random rooms you find in dungeons.
One of my favourite live performances of a Persona track. It’s always great seeing Meguro playing live and the inclusion of the saxophone was just amazing. I’m surprised no one requested the original game version first, it’s definitely worth checking out.
They have a concert every year, shoji is always on the guitar. The best part about the concerts' they do change the arrangements. In essence they change the genre each year
As far as introductions to songs go, listening to the original is always my preference; it's hard to get an appreciation for the differences otherwise.
That said, the original plays during the game's "final boss."
Wink. (Quite literally, at that, if you know what the boss is.)
I'm pretty sure Shoji Meguro is on lead guitar here
Well damn
It is indeed Meguro.
WHAAAAT? That's crazy
2:56 "wait a minute..." before the saxo part was good timing ! 😄
The Velvet Room is a space that shows up in every game, and its form is different depending on the person visiting. Persona 3 it is an elevator, Persona 4 it is a car, Persona 5 it's a jail.
Why in persona 4 Yu's velvet room is a lumisine? is because hes the coolest protagonist and just a ordinary guy from a rich family?
@@ornix5761 it's connected to how Yu I made to stay with his uncle while his parents are working overseas
Persona 1 and 2 have a Lounge with a man playing piano and a woman singing into a microphone stand, the woman sings the Velvet Room themesong
@@ornix5761 it's a car driving through fog
@@ornix5761 it represents the journey with a blurry, unkown end, you'll realise it if you play the game. In fact every Persona game from 3 have that resolution motif in velvet room when you reach the end of the story.
This is one of my favourite boss themes in all of videogames. The in-game version sounds extremely close to this, but with some beautiful piano along the guitar instead of the sax. The fact this was live is impressive, it's pretty much as clean as the recorded version in the game. I'd never actually heard it before.
Relatively new to Persona and SMT myself, having only started playing around with the series this year, so I'd never heard this live performance. What a banger, thanks for bringing that one forward, patreon request person!
Oh yeah, there's tons of live shows. I think they do a live concert every 5 or so years. There's even a few concerts with Lotus Juice. Maybe I could submit a few for you to listen to~
So hype!! Been my most anticipated Persona song from you for a while.
Vastly prefer the original version, but that might be because the audio quality of this recording isn't great, or they kind of simplified some lines and you don't hear some of the details. The original version is one of my favorite boss tracks in JRPGs.
Same here, though I do love that piano at the very beginning. I made a music mod for the PC version of P4G adding that to the beginning of the original song and looping it accordingly, and it adds this epic build up with the characters talking shortly before the fight begins
it's only the quality honestly, this is my favourite Persona song and that piano intro, that sax and those bonus riffs just make it much better
hearing this for the first time when you fight the final boss gave me chills
Same it was amazing
I loved this boss fight. And p4 as a whole. Its such an experience
It is indeed a battle theme. The last boss of the normal ending to be specific.
I can already see people asking why I requested this version over the original - which is very definitely worth listening to on its own but it does not have the saxophone i fear (also live music is cool)
Really Random question (but persona related) would you ever consider watching the persona 3 movies in discord or twitch. They are really good representations of the game and have the games music + new/extended tracks specifically for the movie
Why do people recommend the remixes, different versions and concert versions over the original version first lol?
Cause I like this version more and it wasn’t my intention that he would see this before the original lmao
Shoji Meguro is actually the lead guitarist in this video. All musicians are part of the Persona band.
Every 2 or so years they make Persona Live Events. The last one was in 2019, and the next one is already announced, set to happen october 2022.
Hmmm never heard the Live ver. for The Almighty...hope it's done justice.
You need to check out the live performance of "Daddy Mulk" from The Ninja Warriors. It's a live vgm hall of famer.
Music starts at 0:44. I think I only remember this song from the Arena games. Anyway, I really hope Jesse reacts to the original Hymn of the Soul, which is the theme of the Velvet Room in most of the Persona games
Me thinks I will have to request the original myself next month so we won’t be denied your reaction to it. This remix is… ok but it doesn’t really capture the same feeling I think the original is going for seeing as this is a “final” boss theme.
Okay, to answer your questions!
Yess, there have been a lot of official Persona concerts throughout the years! I think there's one coming up, too, if I'm not mistaken. Most have pretty huge crowds, which I find really cool:)
Also, the person on lead guitar is Shoji Meguro! Yeah!
As for the name of the video: You listened to The Almighty (which actually IS battle music yeah, one of the final-y boss battles!), which was the one that Tommas requested; if you'd continued the video, you would've heard the Velvet Room theme. This video just took 2 songs of the live concert instead of one, most of the video's taking parts of persona concerts do that for some reason.
As others said, the Velvet Room is an important recurring concept in the Persona series. You might be interested to know that the music playing in all games in the Velvet Room ("The Poem of Everyone's Souls", which is a choir-y song) is also remixed into a final boss theme in Persona 3, "The Battle for Everyone's Souls", which you listened to and covered like you mentioned! The fact that when you hear this final boss theme, you have heard part of the song many times during the game, is so awesome!
Persona concerts are rad. Not sure about the composer, but from my memory the original vocalists are always there. A few have had dancing along with the music.
I know they sometimes have virtual tickets you can livestream (and more occasionally free mini concerts)
You need to check out Rivers In The Desert Live. You won't be disappointed ;)
So if I Paypal you $20 I get to request two tracks correct? Since it's $10 for one? I've got two in mind that you haven't done yet and that are probably obscure enough that no one else would, at least not anytime soon. Just wish I could find the one with English lyrics in the video rather than the description, but apparently either no one thought to do that or they got taken down.
That is correct. Do note I have a giant backlog so maybe there's a chance the request is already there.
The list can be seen on Patreon for $1 if you were curious, otherwise yes.
While the song has nothing to do with these, the instrumentation and Jesse's reaction to it make me hope he's got MK8's Big Blue (specifically the highlight reel version) in his request list somewhere.
As a Persona 3 fanboy I will admit that even though this boss is a little underwhelming this boss theme absolutely slaps harder than it needed to.
Also: STICK YOUR HAND IN THE T.V! DO IT DO IT DO IT!
Looking back now I can see the title "the Almighty" as we the player/the main character making choices, let go of relationship, building new one but can never revert our choices (unless you have a different playthrough) infront of the God of Persona's universe. At the beginning of the jorney we were unsure of our new power and the world but by the second half of the song the ending of the game and the end of the world is almost set but the guitar lead taking over signifies that we the MC will go forward with our choices and see it through till the end - a true savior or destroyer the God was waiting for.
Hmmmm Yet another Person Remix...that I do Not like. Oh well, glad you enjoyed it at least.
