Beautiful project and great video, Andy. Most of all, just a gentle reminder that your dad working hand-in-hand with you in your shop is a blessing that you and very few others ever get the opportunity to experience.....and you have it all on video to watch when the day comes that it's no longer possible. Take it from a much older man and fellow woodworker, value this time in your shop with your dad.

Thats another beautiful piece Andy. Congratulations to Robert on finishing his apprenticeship, you did him proud if he's now confident enough to set up his own business. If you continue with the large projects it looks like you'll soon be bringing someone else on in your shop.👍

With long based build videos I usually just watch the intro and skip to the end to the glue up and assembly because one mostly (not really) knows what's required to for a build.
I watched the whole video without skipping (in fact going back at times) and am just amazed at the amount of effort and patience that you put into this build.
Liked and subscribed! Thank you for sharing your work

Very nicely done, Andy. As you yourself stated, these simple looking pieces involve an awful lot of preliminary steps - each themselves taking a lot of time and focussed effort. Congratulations on another piece very well done!

I'm new to your channel and really like your build and the video. I wish I had your patience to go through the many, many steps involved.Since you're an Oliver fan I'll tell you I had an old Oliver 36" planer that I used for tabletops many years ago. That machine was a beast. It would take off 1/8" across the entire 36" in one pass, though that was on Southern Yellow Pine. I'm definitely a follower of yours now, thanks for the video.

Hey man, I'm a woodworker in Australia that's works on his own as well. I was professionally trained but left the craft and pursued other work. In the last 5 or so years ive returned to the craft as a side hustle because it's what I've enjoyed the most out of everything ive done. I'm scared to make the jump into doing it full time for myself even though my friends and family think I should. It's the pricing of pieces I worry about most because like you said, something like that beautiful credenza takes you 4 to 5 weeks. I'm just scared to quote somebody material's plus the wages for the actual hours it takes to make a thing. I think people might run for the hills. So if you don't mind me asking can you give a breakdown of materials and profit on that piece please? I know we're in different countries on opposite sides of the planet so the markets arent the same but just to have an idea would help.

    Greetings from Croatia
    Great job as always
I have a question, your opinion and anyone who's reading this
Im about to build a big huge church door
And im thinking make it hollow for the weight sake, something like a house frame out of wood, then put some 2 +inch thick wooden panels around it.
Stractualy is sound but im woried about condesation and creating some water inside etc., and get a problems later
    What are your toughts
    Thanks

Was warping an issue on the veneers after they were cut?

    • @AndyRawls

No the boards had very little tension in them and there was no warping. The material was cut and dried by Berdoll Sawmill and he did an amazing job prepping the material.
