The Visconti decks have a female charioteer also. I love the inclusion of the virtues. The minchiatte decks were onto something, very complete. I also think they were onto something reversing Judgment and The World.
I bought the Williams' Minchiate ages ago and haven't started working with it yet. I've been focusing on learning Marseille, but excited to get into it! Something has been drawing me to historical and nonstandard tarot decks lately.

I would like to suggest one thing: the Grand Duke looks feminine because he could be related to the bible myth of Samson, figure of youth. Samson took his power from his hair and he is famous to have killed a lion. Samson was a Judge, a military leader, as the dukes are too in our western culture. This card could be related to the god Apollo too. In a more political way, it looks like the "Allegory of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany" by Ricardo Malespini. I think the Minchiate and some other old italian tarots should not be readed with the filters of the Rider-Waite or the Marseille Tarots. We should read the Minchiate with the eyes of people from italian Renaissance. (Sorry for my english !).

thank you so much! as a great lover of historical tarot decks and as someone who owns the Brian Williams deck I really appreciate all your input as I decide which version of the reproductions to get. I agree that in the Brian Williams deck the artwork was not to my taste either but the book like any other book by Brian Williams (if you have the pleasure of owning any of his other decks) is incredible with historical references. I think you would absolutely love it (very reasonable price for the set on Amazon. I also found that unlike many decks the cards spoke to me instantly, I call it my 'chatty little deck' because it's always got something interesting to say.
Honestly, the fact that tarot cards started out as a game make them MORE magical to me. It speaks to magic being much more closely woven into our world than if they had been purpose made. Which is funny, since I love my Good Fortune and English Magic Tarot decks, which are definitely purpose made divination decks!

The Syzygy Oracle (thanks to you), Tarot of the 78 Doors and Trevisan's Crystal Tarot (the art work is lush and beautiful). It is raining Tarot!! Speaking of misplaced decks, my guys are the first editions which were printed in the '70s, '80s and early '90s. Sadly they are out of print. I am reorganizing everyone. Trying. I know that unlike you, I am a malplaced Virgo.
I'm pretty familiar with the lenormand and tarot, but I find the idea of the kipper and minchiati decks quite fascinating. At this moment in time I already have a lot on my plate with two kids on the way and working with the decks I've just splurged on. One of which is le tarot noir to practice the Marseille system to perfection. I relate to you I'm a forever student and love your videos

I recently bought the Minchiatte after watching this video. IN LOVE with this cards! But one thing worried me: since the cards have no varnish, Lo Scarabeo recommend avoiding shuffling them. It's difficult to me no shuffling rsrs...How do you handle them? Any suggestions? Big hug! I love to learn from you! ❤️
The zodiac cards can mean a number of different things I would explain it to you now but I’m writing a book about traditional Italian reading but I’m certain if you are using minchiate in any way related to modern tarot you aren’t getting the full experience.

The colouring of some of the cards red is an aid for game play to indicate cards that form combinations or sequences together.
