I've been playing a Genos for a while now...I've created just over 900 songs by building up each into 2 to 10 Registration files that I then save as a Registration folder named after the song, saved alphabetically by song title in the User memory area (in groupings of three letters, i.e., A-B-C, D-E-F, etc)... This method of using the Korg Songbook Setlists is the closest way to capture the Registration song architecture experience on a Korg pa that I've seen...partly based on what I saw here, I bought a pa4x (it arrives tomorrow)...I'm very much looking forward to trying this formatting idea out... I've watched a lot (too many) of "tips" videos, and I have to say that you are the single best instructor I've ever seen...you are articulate, knowledgeable, talented, and concise - please keep adding to the 15 videos you've already made...they are a treasure!
Great video! This exactly how I want to arrange each song. However I can't figure out how you are saving all of the settings, drum fills and style changes as well as voicing changes. Can you give me a clue how you do it please? I've had the keyboard for a couple of months and only just started to dig into the detail and I'm finding it confusing! Thanks. Tony
Hi Paul, I’ve just discovered your site today. Absolutely amazing. I’m really impressed with your command of this keyboard. I’ve had this Korg for just over a year and it drives me crazy. I can’t understand it at all. I was considering selling it to buy a normal digital piano. After watching your video I think I’ll persevere a little longer. Cheers.
THANKS FOR THIS TUTORIAL. KINDLY KINDLY SHOW US HOW YOU SAVE SETUP WITH DIFFERENT STYLES. HOW WERE YOU ABLE TO SAVE DIFFERENT STYLES WITH THE SET LIST.
Can I use this function to preset song order for worship service? I do not want to always looking for style and sound for each song. Please let me know if this possible to do so.
How did you save the different versions of the what i do for love ...did you save only one songbook entry of the original what i do for love and from the songbook create different versions by editing or how
HOW DID YOU CHANGE THE STYLE FROM BALLAD TO THE DIFFERENT RYTHYM. PLEASE I NEED TO KNOW. GO THROUGH THE STEPS TO SAVE THE DIFFERENT STYLES ....HOW DID YOU CHANGE THE STYLES AND BACK
Sir, how did you save the "what i do 1 - 6" that holds the key. yesterday i tried doing this on my Pa4x but could not achieve your results. Kindly respond. Or if anybody can explain please. I have been pleading but no response KORG. These steps are not in the manual. I will appreciate if someone could make a short pdf manual for this
I used this type of settings on my yamaha psr&tyros keyboards and it was very easy and complete to set a song on differents registers, even the pads starts or stop when I swich to the next register..now i,m very fustrated trying to use this type of functions on my korg pa1000..this dont get any sync start to pads and to make a set list it feels complicated..it was easyer and better on my tyros5 even if that dont get touch screen. I consider to sale my pa1000 and buy a yamaha psr sx900..even if pa1000 its technically better.
Great way to work. So what we need in PA4X is a lot more pages per Catorgary. Any idea when your "Getting to Know the Korg Pa series" will be released.
SET List problem 1 You can only copy entries to the SET List, only from the Songbook, and not directly to the SET List. This will double the entries. If you delete a Songbook entry, it will also be deleted from the SET List. 2 Can only be saved to consecutive locations, ie 1-2-3-4-etc 3 You cannot save to the second or third page until the first page of the List (12 entries) has been completed.
Are you saying, we cannot save any style directly to the set like the register in Yamaha? What if I want to save styles orderly for worship service (i.g song1-5), will this possible?
Thanks, but it seems like a mess... Let me try to understand by comparing it with the Pa3X and previous generations. Keyboard Set is basically the STS. Before it was a part of the style, and there were no options to have different STS for the same style, so one style = 4 STS combinations and that is it. Does Keyboard Set now have the ability to be recorded within a SongBook, or Set List? So with the same Ballad style in two different Set Lists or SongBook entries we can have two different sets of 4 combinations tied to the same style? Set List is what was previously known as Performances. Is Set List independent from the SongBook? Or is the SongBook just the interface to show the Set Lists? Earlier SongBook was totally independent, and it was horrendous as it did not remember only the style name and location, but the settings within a style. So if you have 500 songs in the SongBook that are based on, let'ß say 15 styles, and you want to change the drum kit or reverb on all 15 styles, the SongBook entries will load the old setup no matter all your styles are changed. A disaster really. Does the SongBook works the same, or they fixed it? Thanks...
Strange that a set list song book entry can remember any muted instruments, which variation is "current", the four keyboard sets etc. however it does not remember which one of the four keyboard sets is "current" - it always selects keyboard set 1. This means each fiddling with actually re-assigning keyboard set one for each songbook entry that you want to start with a different sound. Shouldn't a songbook entry simply remember the last selected keyboard set - which would be consistent with what it does with all the other things it remembers?
This is awesome. Something I was looking for, to move from Yamaha to Korg.
Very well thought, that's wonderful idea. Thank you 😊

I use numbers. 1.2....
13.14...and so
Tell me please how do you feel now with how the Korg renders audio after 2 years of owning it after Yamaha?

Another useful gem of information! Thank you, Paul.
Thanks Paul great tip, good to see you back 😊
