  • Bhaja Pithe is a Bengali sweet dish aka Pithe made with a filling of coconut and date palm jaggery. The stuffing is encased in a shell made of yellow split lentils, rice flour, and Sweet Potato. It is then deep-fried and served during the winter months. The shell of the sweet is light and crispy, while the filling is sweet and sticky, making it a perfect winter treat.
    These are called Bhaja pithe (fried pitha). Generally made of sweet potato, rice flour and masur daal. This is a very crispy pitha with sweet and spicy taste.
    INGREDIENTS:-
    Medium size 3 sweet potato. masur daal 1 Cup add water. cook for 10-15 minutes, , add 1½ tsp salt,1 tsp turmeric powder ,1 Cup rice flour and make a dough .Make small balls from the prepared dough .
    Take a flat pan, add 1 cup coconut powder ,1/4 cup jaggery and stir constantly for 4-5 minutes, till it is mixed well .
    Take one dough ball and flatten it using your palm ,then with thumb and finger and make it in the shape of a bowl . Stuff the coconut filling and close its edges and give it an oval shape .
    Deep fry in oil/ghee, till it becomes golden brown.
    Serve hot or can be stored and have later. Bhaja pithe is ready
