Thanks Steve! Yes, I agree, the camshaft is the brain of these engines. It decides what, when, how much, how long.... So if the brain is not dead right nothing else would be.
Really enjoy your videos. I have a mystery cam shaft in my car (Triumph registry log by PO has a Piper Race Cam). I'll be following your procedure this fall. Thanks!
Well done Elin, very informative......at least you now know the way forward. Suggest you put the race cam up for sale , someone somewhere will want it. At least tag it "As seen on RUclips"
Thanks John. Yes I know the way. We have 2 cams that came with our 74. Actually we have 2 of almost everything. So I will see what do they show, because they are unknown as well and then I will talk to John and see if he wants to use one of them. If not we will order one from Moss. But yeah, we can put this one for sale. Who knows....
Great videos and great craftsmanship , your skills are impressive. I'm currently working on a 1969 TR6 that has not seen pavement since 1979, just got done overhauling carbs and everything else except the body off chassis. Car belongs to a customer and has entrusted his new find to me. Hoping to see more of your work and skills in the future, and too bad your in Canada? If I'm guessing properly, anyway thanks again and I'm subscribing right now. PS. I'm in Red Hook ,NY.
Thank you! Yes, I am in Canada. It is great to hear another TR6 will be brought back to life after such a long time. Our 74 TR6 has been waiting for it's day since 1989 and I thought that was a long time. Good luck with the 69!
Yeah, I would definitely not run with that camshaft. Way too aggressive. I'd go with the TSI S2 or the Goodparts GP2. Going to weld something now...my brain hurts 😎
So you decided to stay and watch. I warned you! Not my responsibility your brain hurts again LOL. Yeah, I will talk to John. This cam is way too aggressive. I will suggest to bring it back to stock. Go finish that floor, I am curious.....
Slowly but surely the fog in my brain concerning this topic is clearing. Thanks for taking the time to investigate and share.
Couple more of them and I will also start understanding what I am talking about LOL Almost there now :)
Getting the timing dead right is well worth the extra effort, top job Elin!

I went and looked. There is no 59 TR3 in my garage. lol! Thanks Elin, glad that you figured it out.
Too bad! You should get one. Helps when your brain hurts lol
Very cool to watch, thanks for taking the time to upload.
Happy to hear that. Thank you!

I am happy you find it helpful! Good luck with your project!
Interesting. Nice to get to the bottom of this puzzle.
Yep, now I can sleep better :)
Good work man, looking forward to seeing what you do next. Also good to know where you stand now eh! Informative and helpful as always Elin!
Thanks Mike! Next is new camshaft. This one is really extreme for John. How's the GT6 going?
Looking forward to that! It's coming slowly but surely - hoping to have Ep5 out sometime soon! :) Hope you had a great weekend Elin!
