The map pro isn't really mapp gas , it's a mapp propane mix , if it were real mapp gas the difference would be about 1500 degrees instead of just around 175 or so.

First off it's not MAPP gas. Mapp gas stopped being produced in the US in 2008 and not sold to the public even before that. Bernzomatic bought the name Mapp and uses it as a trade mark. It says it right on the can Mapp gas Pro is what they call it. It's 95% propane. This guy is using 2 different torch heads that put out different volumes of flame. The 8000 he had on the yellow can of propane will be hotter do to more output. $11.99 for a yellow can or $3.99 for green can at Walmart.

That there is map/pro…. NOT mapp gas. Not even close. Only thing in common is yellow can.

I used the MAPP and loved it til I saw it was 3x the cost of propane. I used it for wrenching too. But maybe I'll try propane out cause I'm cheap as dirt haha. Good video exactly what I was looking for. Real life temp comparisons on someones project.
    Thanks.

There are a few other little factors also.
Distance from the object to be heated
Power or blow setting of head can vary the results

Also the geometry(angles) the flame is hitting it

you need to use the same torch head on each bottle. you are getting inaccurate results

Not true. The Bernzomatic TS8000 torch can be used for both.

Yes, different nozzles can create different flame temperatures due to the mixture of oxygen/fuel and also nozzle geometry.

I don't find a ton of use for propane. I feel like it doesn't help nearly as much for heating up stuck bolts.

I totally agree. I've basically completely switched over to using map gas now

That’s actually pretty cool. I knew mapp gas got hotter then propane but not 100 degrees hotter.

Thanks for the comment. I definitely had fun experimenting with the two

Map pro is on average about 165 degrees hotter than propane but mapp gas ( with two P's ) is about 1500 degrees hotter than propane.

MAPP gives a slightly hotter flame than propane gas and gets jobs done quicker

Right , but maybe map gas tourch it's biggest.
    Did You not ?

They run the same torch head. Just a different bottle

Do they use the same torch head?

They quit making Mapp gas in 2008 that crap you're using is map pro and it's a piss poor substitute for Mapp.

not worth the price for 100 degrees!

I personally have found it to make a difference enough when getting bolts loss
