Thanks for your comment. I just watched the interview with John Oliver where he talks about this interview. I missed it originally so I came here to see it.
Bradley is passionate about what he does and how he goes about expressing his life’s passion and purpose. His comment ( while laughing at himself) “ I was ridiculously eloquent, in my own mind”. The man exudes humility and confidence onstage and in films.
Colbert’s conversations with his guests can be the most interesting and meaningful of all the late night hosts. This was one of the really great ones. Thanks to both.
I loved those Young People’s Concerts growing up, and to this day, Bernstein, is most likely the only concert conductor most Americans have heard of. I appreciate his dedication to making this film. The physical resemblance was uncanny

Sometimes Colbert reaches the heights of the great talk show hosts, especially if he's truly interested in what a guest has to say. This is one of those.
What? He interrupted Cooper and talked over the top of him. Bradley is an intellectual and very polite, but if Colbert let him finish his thoughts the interview would have been a lot better. 😳
Kudos to Steven Colbert for keeping his shit together while he was in excruciating pain during the taping of this interview. Did he know that his pain was caused by his appendix, which had already burst while he was taping this interview.
Hope to find a theater showing it now. Two extremely talented men, Leonard Bernstein And Bradley Cooper. Bradley's dedication to his craft is so immense & inspiring as an actor. His ability to change his look to any character or day to day life is amazing. Hes like a human chameleon, or perhaps a shapeshifter Lol. His talents astound me. Best of luck at the Oscars. It's your turn to be recognized for your multi talents. ❤
How on earth did Stephen pull this off? I do know. I've seen performers ready to die backstage, and go on and give not only a smooth, but an incandescent performance. Running on the energy of "Damn the pain I have to do this!" I was amazed the one time I did it myself. And in a later play clapped loudly for a fellow actor who did his damndest and had to give up onstage. He apologized to everyone as the EMTs carried him off the stage but we knew he tried his very best. "The show must go on" is not just a saying it is a battle cry. And a courage filled with love. I am glad Stephen is all right.

As a lover of classical music, I enjoyed the heck out of last year's Tar and am excited for Maestro and American Symphony. There's just something magical about a room full of people gathered to play and listen to complex and often wordless music. Maybe it's because it hearkens back to an era before the information overload of today, or because it evokes a sense of nostalgia for a time I never lived through. Whatever the reason, I hope movies and documentaries with music front and center keep getting made by people with passion and insight.

I remember watching Bradley Cooper in 'Alias' years ago. He has really grown as an artist. l'm very happy to see him being recognized for his efforts. He deserves every accolade he receives! Well done, Mr. Cooper!
The music played by the Late Night Band from 13 seconds through 29 seconds into this video while Bradley Cooper is walking on stage is Leonard Bernstein’s theme to his Opera “Candide”, but played in an Afro-Cuban-Latin-Jazz Style, a la “West Side Story”. That is so cool!
I saw Maestro with Bradley Cooper in the theater 5 months ago for a test screening. Seeing it again tomorrow, can't wait! Really enjoyed the film, hope it's just as good the 2nd time 👌🎥🍿.
I've always loved Bernstein, his music, his conducting, etc. I'm thrilled Cooper made a film about him with all three of Bernstein's children giving it their blessing. I believe a large swath of the film was shot at their Connecticut home that Bernstein's children still use to this day. From the small teases I've seen, I think it looks great. I can't wait for it to come out on streaming service.
My late grandfather adored Leonard Bernstein. As a small child I remember my grandfather setting my brother and I in front of the T.V. to watch the Young Peoples concerts where we learned every instrument in the orchestra. I too learned Peter Wolf from Leonard Berstein.
I think as we move into a post-work world, where we are freed from "labor to survive" akin to how we were freed from "farm to survive" in the past economical revolutions, people will find "work" is not what they hated, but being forced to work on another's dreams is what they hated. Indeed, I think in a post-work society, that society will be drunk on work that stems from self and one's own dreams, and it's going to be so gorgeous to see. Actors and artists are sometimes lucky enough to be financially well off enough to give us a glimpse of this now, but soon, all of society will have this. that intro music is from bernstein's candide. the first time i got to know it was as the dick cavett show theme. the second time i came across it was in a piece by mozart that was playing on the radio one day: it was the very same succession of notes but without the syncopation. i thought for sure the dcshow lifted the notes from mozart for its theme only to find out later that it was bernstein who had picked it up. so it just makes me wonder who mozart may have got it from.

I posted a video about Leonard Bernstein on my RUclips channel that documents what he was really doing on stage as a conductor. There's a phenomenon in the press where they pick 2 or 3 classical musicians and designate them as SACRED COWS. No matter what the sacred cows do on stage, the press refers to it as "the greatest." Bernstein was one of those sacred cows. The television appearances he did show him adding trumpets to the orchestra with Beethoven's symphonies and then when the interviewer asks him about Beethoven's ability to orchestrate, he says " IT'S BAD.
