- Beautiful Paint Horse Wont Let You Get On!! This is a lovely paint horse that has become almost impossible to mount in an arena! The more the rider tries the worse things get!

This channel is my comfort place. City dweller in California-never owned a horse and never plan to and yet I always click on a new Steve Young Horsemanship video. Thank you 🙏🏼
Me too!!! Except I do live in the country. Lovely work!!!
STEVE IS THE REAL DEAL FOR THE HORSES. OVER 50 YEARS OF LEARNING ABOUT THE TOP TRAINERS IN THE USA I CAN SAY " STEVE USES THE LEAST AMOUNT OF PRESSURE AND STRESS TO THE HORSE AND HANDLER." HE IS SO KIND AND UNDERSTANDING TO THE OWNERS. ANY HORSE WOULD BE LUCKY TO FIND THEMSELVES WITH STEVE AT THE END OF THAT ROPE. HE WILL HELP THEM TO LIVE IN A CALM AND RELAXED PARTNERSHIP TOGETHER ❤️
I think the appeal is to watch someone doing an excellent job, making it look easy and helping all the horses
Steve's voice is one of my self care must haves. He takes me to a sane & sensible place.
You’ve picked an exceptional horse trainer to watch.
What always impresses me most is how relaxed the horses are after you work with them---I think it's the relief of finally understanding what's expected & that they don't have to worry any more about what to do.
Once again, human taking leadership responsibility and speaking horse with compassion. ❤
Awesome! “Pat a dog but stroke a horse” ❤
I live in South Florida, and it was always my dream to have a horse, but it never happened. The way that you help these people understand their horses, is the same way that we helped our 40+ foster children (over the years) to adjust to a functional environment. I love your channel ❣️
Your patience always amazes me. The number of times you have trained a horse to do this must be in the high thousands.
Thanks for another instructive and inspiring video. Always learn so much with how and what you and your team share. Luv luv the horse
Thanks for the tip to touch at the girth to take a step forward. With your instruction my horse stands completely still for mounting.
I never cease to be amazed at how all the horses are just doing the wrong thing because they simply, don't know what the 'right' thing is! It's always such a satisfying thing for me to see how fast the adjustment is. I'm sure it's not always as fast as it seems on the videos - still, after 4 years, it didn't seem to take long at all. Fabulous, as always.
What a lovely boy. Bless him.
Way to watch out for Steve! Don’t want him falling and hurting something! What would all of us vicarious horse people do!😊❤
Well done, everyone!
You are so brilliant, Steve -- it is shame we can't clone you -- there are so many horses that need your help :)
That's a fact!
Another informative video Steve. What a stunning horse.
I love watching the connection you have with the horse that you're working with. They trust you, and I see that you establish that right up front. God bless you and your family.
Beautiful horse, beautiful outcome!!
Great video 🎉
Beautiful gelding, smart kid!
They’ll be just fine💜
Wonderful Steve, as always!
Another successful job? What a blessing for them.
Another great video!! I hope to send this to some friends whose horses do this! I taught my mare to stand at the mounting block or really anywhere I put her 3 1/2 years ago when I first started watching Steve! He really is the BEST! And I still watch all of them bc there’s always something to learn❤!
Steve, thank you for being so open about sharing your gift with horses. You have been a great virtual mentor for me in my horsemanship journey as your teachings have help improve my relationship with numerous horses. God bless you and your family.
You must have heard me tell my student to watch your videos to help her refresh her mounting skills. This will help her immensely. Thank you ❤
I watched you do this with another horse & decided to try it with my 4yr old. I didn't have a mounting block but used the fence. It took 3 tries & to this day he does it perfectly every time. I saw on another channel someone put their hand up in the air as a "cue" so thought I'd try it and it works. He has yet to do it when he doesn't have a halter or bridle on, but I'll keep trying. Thanks so much for your content! Love from AZ
Beautiful horse & better owner now, too !
Respect me, and I will respect you.
I can watch you until the “ cows come home”!! Your training results are amazing! I think that screaming horse in the background can use your help😬😳.
that horse is so cute, nice temperament, good all around horse!
What a sweet boy!!❤🐎
Brilliant what a lovely painted horse
Love watching these videos - I don’t have a horse (always loved them though.) I am a dog trainer - (retired now) learned Jan Fennel’s Armichien Bonding 12 years ago, (Monty Robert’s was her mentor years ago.) I see similarities in the horse training. It works for all dog’s, you just have to adjust small things for each dog. However, I find it a challenge convincing owners that this method works…even though they can see a change when I work with them. I just help family and friends now. I feel sad sometimes watching dogs out and about trying to communicate with their owners…the frustration is real. 😢
You make it look so easy! Yesterday I tried the sending through a gap to line up at a mounting box. We eventually had some sucess, but its not nearly as easy as you make it look! I am going to try this exercise next!
Much success to you! I believe it also helps a ton to have a clear calm mind with a vision of your goal in your thoughts. It seems that horses see what we are envisioning. Worth adding to the mix to experiment with?
Let us know how you progress, please!
SYH Magic at work again ✨
Is steve insured tanyia 😂😂😂😂.great job ❤
Brilliant … as always!
Happy Trails! 🙏🙌✝️✡️❤️
Hello Steve, you are wonderful ! 😊l
Well done…as usual! 🫡
Excellent short video with such an important skill and effective communication with horse so he could comprehend what was being asked of him!!!❤
Excellent❣️💯 ☮️🐴💙
Thank you Steve as this has helped me and my horses heaps, you are awesome love all your training methods it's all helping with us understanding our horses so much more, ❤❤❤❤, THANK YOU HEAPS, YOU ARE AWESOME.
Thank you!❤🇨🇦Sharon.
I used to use this method as great for opening gates as well 👍
A lot of kids playing nearby. And the owls? Sounds like an owl farm.
Loved it all, thank you so much for sharing, beautiful horse and sweet ❤🎉🎉🎉🎉
❤🎉 great result, well done Steve.
Thanks for sharing your work, I guess it depends how the horse feels.never had that problem, for us we never let the horse in in the fence let them go out in open
There is a very large lump on the horse’s right stifle. The right stifle is very different from the left stifle muscle area.
This technique has worked beautifully with my 2 horses and mounting issues have completely disappeared, even after a full year.
Great little video a smart horse. And a bunch of noisy birds probably did not sound that loud to you guys was pretty loud on this end. I always enjoy your videos. This was a nice
Hi Steve! I’ve been studying your videos as of late and love the content. One question I do have…. Why adamant regarding making eye contact with horses? Is it more of a threat or challenge than a connection to them? 1) Could you go into further detail? 2). is there a time/place for that? Appreciate ya
the sneakiest horse is the one that backs up as you're attempting to mount.
We had a large pony who trotted backwards. Was nuts. He would NOT go forward unless following another horse. He'd figured the perfect out- do not EVER take a step forward, only reverse, and evade, and eventually the rider will get off. Over 50 yrs I've worked with horses, and that pony was the only one who completely befuddled me. He'd love Steve backing him up!
@@heather173 LOL, I have a TW mare that I got as a yearling but don't ride very often. The first thing that I taught her was to back up. Now when I ride her, that's what she wants to do rather than go forward because it's what she knows best. 🤣 She doesn't, however, try to back up when I mount.
No patting, just rubbing andscratching
❤
❤🐎❤️
Real question how do you know that patting is not good for the horses? Had a discussion with hubby, I said that Steve always corrects this, and my guess is is that it is threatening or not in their repertoire. He was like: but you don’t know why…?
How to tell, do they flinch, get nervous or what? Thx for an explanation
I've heard Steve say that, in the wild, the horses rub on each other. They don't pat each other. Steve leverages what a horse does naturally. Hope that helps.
@@njcanuck thanks for clarifying, I never registered him saying this, seems logical that rubbing comes closer to nuzzeling... Sometimes when I go hiking and meet some friendly horses along the way, I massage their mane crest and neck, and usually they answer by working my jacket with their lipps
❤❤
Would u be interested in appearing on podcast as a guest to talk horses with some dog people
💜🐎
👍😎👍
Watching this paired horse video. Not able to mount.
The noise of children screaming is so distracting.😮
The noise of the kids does make it a real life scenario
Please advise this young woman to dress appropriately for riding. She looks very vulnerable with her crocs on!
The poor horse just was never taught what was wanted of him. They learn that when they are on the lead and you stop, you want them to turn and face you. So when leading them and you stop, they are facing you. Or when you are longing them and you stop them, you want them to turn and face you. So he way just doing the only thing he had learned to do.
(And what was with that horse in the background who was continually neighing?)
no slapping the horse. just rubbing and good stuff.
Every video, so many things one can learn and. admire and apply!
