I swear by my 7 mag and my 35 rem the only 2 calibers that I can count on to drop a deer in its tracks,I use my Belgian made browning bar in 7 mm topped with Swarovski 4x12x50 scope,my 35 rem is a custom build on a browning blr light weight with a 24 inch barrel topped with 2.5x9x40 Nikon pro staff and a gen 4 night vision ad on,I use it for hog hunting,my 7mm ammo is Barnes TSX 160 gr you never have to follow a blood trail they just fall right down
Yo a este rifle le saque entre 12.000 ....y ...15.000 disparos en 25 años. No me desfraudo nunca . El cañon se puso liso como el de una escopeta . Ahi lo licencie .....maravilloso
Depends on where you hit. I recently shot a small deer with a 7mm Mag and hit it right behind one shoulder and out right behind the other. The entry wound was probably about pinky sized, perhaps a bit smaller. The exit you could have thrown a golf ball through. The ribs in the path were smashed badly. However, there isn't a lot of meat on deer ribs. I missed the shoulders entirely which saved the meaty sections there. Had I wanted to save any organs I might have been disappointed. It does some real damage as it goes through. Given the exit wound I'd have to say that if you hit a deer in a meaty section with a 7mm you are going to have a whole lot of instant hamburger that is going to be wasted all over the woods. So, I suppose the answer is - yes. Yes, it can cause significant damage on a deer. Shot placement, as always, is the key here.
Honestly i have shot lots of deer bear and moose with my 7mm. And have shot about 6 deer with my 243 the damage is about the same to be honest...again depends where you hit it..
It’s gonna mess up the area you hit. With a vitals shot, you’ll be fine. I took a quartering shot with mine this year. Through the front shoulder and out behind the opposite, huge exit wound, but I lost maybe 1-2 lbs of meat tops. I’d rather have that than have an animal that doesn’t drop and has to suffer until I hopefully find it or it expires.
I headshot 4 deer this year with a 22.250 that went down harder than that, without so much as a kick. You hit them anywhere but in the rib,s with that, and you don,t have to grind any hamburger,it will do it for you.
The kinetic energy behind these cartridges just knock em in their tracks
Nice shot and ethical harvest. 7mm mag is an amazing round
This is one reason I bought my 7 mag! Where I live it’s steep terrain. It can be pretty rough if they run down one of those hills.

Is the meat damage very bad with this round

What round did he use?
And don’t say 7mm. I mean which 7mm round. It makes a difference.
