I'm half German and half African American and would spend my summers in Germany and let me tell you, I would eat at the American places as often as possible, otherwise it was just pommes (frys) and doner for me

Nonsense. Of course German kitchen will orient itself around local products. There is great German dishes like Schwäbische Spätzle, Königsberger Klopse, Maultaschen, Rindsroulade, Spargel, Schnitzel, Flammkuchen, Schweinebraten, Krustenbraten, all sorts of Knödel, great soups like Lauchsuppe, Zwiebelsuppe, Kartoffelsuppe. Let's not even talk about German breads clearing anything American by a mile. German cheeses too. Tons of great sausages, literally the motherland of sausages.
Sorry, but if you put American trash food engineered in a lab to maximally stimulate your tastebuds with copius amounts of fat, sugar, and sodium monoglutamate over traditional German food you need to detox yourself from the trash.
I give Hasanabi that turkish food clears German food, which is unsurprising given the geographic regions - one being at the crossroads of Asia, Europe and Africa, and the other being a nothern European country with harsh winters, but no shot the American trash food can even remotely compare.
Turkish doner > bratwurst any day of the week.
Turkey anything > German stuff

Hubby is Syrian and does the cooking. We went out on Thanksgiving and he was shoving his food around with his fork. Then he put mayo on it and tried to eat while I just laughed and said “you don’t like this food food do you” and and he grumbled “no, not rrrrrreally”

German food is the worst European food in my experience. I've been to at least 9 German cities in every corner of the country. It's got a handful of acceptable meals but none I have ever craved having again.
Döner is God's Gift to Germany and they should be thanking every immigrant who graces their land with flavor.
(I haven't been to the UK, but I assume this statement could be written about that soggy island too)
