    I would like to explain the stop sign, the road up on the left is where the big trucks come in to deliver to the store and they have to come out into your lane so the trailer makes it around the corner, they stop traffic at that point to give the trucks the room to make the corner.

    When I stayed in England, my English friend took me to her store and I was like: They have Stouffers! Then wow they have Stouffer's Shepherd's Pie an and Yorkshire pudding! Then in Prague I found a supermarket at the mall and I only know like 2 sentences in Czech and no you can't always tell what that food is from the package.... but they were selling big bottles of Absinthe for like $20 US and it's so illegal where I live, I have never even seen it..... Here in the summer and autumn you can go for a Sunday drive and just buy corn and honey and fruit and jam off road-side stands. you should Google that.

    BTW Those stop signs are there because traffic from your left has the right of way. If the sign wasn't there, you would hit a car coming off the main street. I'm American and it took me a while to figure that one out. :)

    I wouldn't be surprised if guys started hitting on you in the supermarket. And it's going to happen more and more often now :-)

    In So-Cal, we have Whole Foods, Mother's Market & Kitchen, Sprouts, and Trader Joe's, just to name a few really good grocery markets. Walmart is mostly stocked with junk-food, that you wouldn't want to eat on a regular basis. Most major supermarkets like Vons, Ralph's, Albertson's, etc., also offer organic produce, foods, and gourmet foods/cheeses. I sure hope that you were able to branch out beyond Walmart! If not, that would have been really sad.

    LOL! Real cheese is widely available here in the US. You just need to go to better grocery store. I'm in Wisconsin and we make some of the best cheese in the world! Yes we have processed cheese as well. But we have all sorts of cheese. The problem though is that even folks here in the US who like real cheese, still love to eat the processed stuff. They often eat both. I'm sorta the same way. :\

      I hate HATE those Kraft Singles cheese slices.. Bleeeeech!! Lol. I pretty much will only eat real cheese. I prefer the Tillamook brand cheddar cheeses and such. Basically as long as it's not those nasty Kraft Singles I'm good lmao :). I am weird about trying different cheeses though heh. Like..I LOVE Parmesan but I HATE Provolone and Swiss lol. Oh and blue cheeses..ew lol. I refuse to even try blue cheese lol. And I'm weird about trying like Brie, Gruyere, ect.. Heh. I am American too lol

      ***** Well they may want to start. The US made raw milk cheese illegal back in the 40's for safety reasons of the cheese. Plus our pasteurized cheese in Wisconsin beat all European cheese in the world cheese competition for taste. Wisconsin is home to some of the best tasting cheeses in the world. And many cheese lovers all around swear by it. Wisconsin cheese never had any trouble holding it's own against raw milk cheeses. Plus it can actually benefit taste too.

    I actually like the cheese in our grocery stores more than the cheese I had in Germany. However, Walmart usually has a smaller section with the cheese you would like by their produce....it's really expensive though. I live close to Columbus and I hadn't heard of "boiled peanuts" until last year. I visited some friends who were a little "country" and they had them. It was weird.

    Consider buying clothing while you are in the US.
    I have heard of Germans bringing 2 empty luggage bags just to bring back name brand clothing to Germany and the difference in price pays for their trip.
    Even German brands like Adidas are cheaper here which makes no sense but whatever :)

    Nobody goes grocery shopping at Walmart if they can help it. That produce at Kroger was expensive! I've never seen peppers priced "each." They're always sold by the pound in supermarkets in my area, except those packaged ones that I never buy.

    So true about the plastic solo cups. My roommate when I was in Germany brought a whole pack from the states with him and all the Europeans would freak out when they saw them as most had only ever seen them in American movies before. I also hate American processed cheese too, I prefer European made cheeses.

    You can buy good cheese in America. A grocery store like Walmart is not the place to find good cheese. There are grocery stores and deli's in nearly every neighborhood that sell the good stuff but it is roughly twice the cost of cheese in Walmart. Also most cities have a local street market where the good stuff is.

And yeah, but Walmart is everywhere stuff like Meijer and Kroger are Midwest typical but you won't find on the Westcoast, or Ralph's you won't find in Ohio... • @sebastianurbas7699
      @sebastianurbas7699 9 лет назад

      +Brandy Graf American Aldi stores are pretty similar to German Aldi stores. In Germany Kaufland is probably most comparable to a typically American grocery store. And Real or Globus is somewhat similar to Walmart.

    • @BrandyGraf
      @BrandyGraf 9 лет назад

      I mean as to what they sell. We went there in hopes to fill a cooler with typical camping/picnic food, and came out with almost nothing.

    • @sebastianurbas7699
      @sebastianurbas7699 9 лет назад

      Brandy Graf
      Is an American camping/picnic so much different from a German one? Germans can easily get all their foods for camping or picnic from a German Aldi store.
      What do you missed in the German Aldi store for your American style camping/picnic?
      American Aldi stores have a wider choise of frozen and canned goods. German Aldi stores have a wider selection of cheese, cold cuts, bread and yogurt.
      I guess the selection in Aldi stores in different countries is different, because they try to satisfy the local tastes, preferences and habits.

      +justadrummervienna There are also some nicer stores like Whole Foods (but too expensive). But the average American supermarket looks indeed somewhat oldfashioned and not nicely decorated. But the open spaces in the grocery section are great. In Germany it's often too little space.
