There are things that are just stupid like the NASCAR truck series, but then there are things so utterly nonsense that they go all the way back around to being cool again. This is the latter.
Unfortunately, it is not so also in Europe, only and always F1 and a few other (little fun) motorsports. However, these races have the right audience following.

For what they are, they have a pretty low center of gravity. The cab weighs very little as it's mostly just a fiberglass shell and the components that make mostof the weight like the axles and engine sit pretty low.

Seeing trucks racing on the track is something the mind struggles to conceive, but they work and go fast! 😅👍

I wonder if they are required to run duals in the rear? I would imagine that by running singles out back, with less traction you could drift easier and therefore turn sharper

No, with the fifth wheel installed on the truck, they cannot tow anything. But it would be nice to see one on the highway pulling a semi-trailer while travelling at over 150km/h 😂
Yours is a very interesting observation, the regulation provides. Here is a passage from the official FIA one adopted by trucks: 5.5.1.6 Semi- Coupling (Fifth Wheel see drawing 6.4.7 ) Regardless of manufacturer's specification, the semi-trailer pin coupling (fifth wheel) must be situated forward of the drive axle centreline. The fifth wheel must comply with the dimensions of drawing 6.5.7. and have a thickness of 30mm. The material is free but the fifth wheel must have a minimum weight of 5 kg. The fifth wheel must be situated between 1000mm and 1300mm from the ground at all times and this measurement will be taken with the fifth wheel in the horizontal position. No other part, within a circle of 2040mm radius, the centre being the kingpin axis of the fifth wheel, may be situated above the upper surface of the fifth wheel.

I didn't know this was a thing or still popular. I remember seeing this on the "Speed" channel and I thought this wasn't popular anymore. TBH if i saw this for the first time and didn't see european flags, I would have thought this was in america.
We are in Italy and this is the stage that takes place on the Misano track. The European Truck Championship is very popular here, that race weekend brings together over 50,000 people. I recommend you watch the 2018 highlights video with spectacular crashes: bit.ly/RacingTrucks2018 😉👍
No, I don't think so; what maybe you could have is a special edition with the truck's livery in the race but certainly not a vehicle with these characteristics.
@@Italiansupercarvideo always wonder when they come to a sudden stop there is no tipping towards the front. Either the cabin must be made of very light materials or they have weights distributed in the back.
@@jsuswaram The cab is made of the same material as that of the road trucks. I got to peek inside the cockpits, and there's nothing. Having to delete too many hundreds of kilos here must already be a good thing. It would be interesting to see if the engine positioning has been pushed even further back by putting it centrally to optimize weight distribution. This is all very interesting. If in this 2021, I will have the opportunity to see a truck race again (pandemic permitting) I will try to ask some technicians about these things.
There are no pit stops, the races usually last ten laps, and four races are held during the weekend, two on Saturday and two on Sunday. The trucks, therefore, don't make pit stops, they have enough fuel to compete in them, and there's no tire change.

Better to have more traction with all that torque. Plus they still slide even with the duals.
Also drifting doesnt make you go faster
