Furthermore, while Mario does indeed fight some alien in the Space Zone, AFAIK there is no confirmation it is Tatanga. (Perhaps the name's in the manual? I wouldn't know. :/ )

Apart from that, the Easter Island statues, a sphinx boss, and an alien, this game had an odd collection of bad guys. And for a Mario game, that is saying something.
