Due to space limitations, I haven't had a mixer in my setup for about 10 years. And I have to say, from all the different setups I've had in the past, the one with the mixer was the most fun one by far. It wasn't anything special either, just a cheap 16 track Soundcraft with dust in about every pot. Still it had maybe the most important role. it does so much more than just summing and EQing, it becomes part of the creative process as well, almost like an instrument in itself waiting to played and explored. Once I clear some space or move to a larger space, a good mixer is coming back for sure.
Great. Currently I am searching for a mixer. What kind of mixer is yours? Will you demonstrate some different mixers? What do you think about digital mixers?
It's an small but super high end analog mixer called APB - ProRack House H1020. It is still under production and with the best headroom/quality/routing capabilities but a bit pricy (~3000eu second hand). As a cheaper option you could take a look at the Midas Venice (or Midas Venice F series if you want the integrated Firewire soundcard) which is the biggest reference to compete (~800/1500eu second hand) with the APB!
@@eento06 Thank you for your response. I will have a look. Meanwhile I stumbled upon a Soundcraft 22 MTK as a potential mixer. It looks a little bit like the one in the video. The prize is reasonable and what I like is the integrated sound card to record in your computer. On top I am very curious to check out the USB-Returns. Do you have by chance some information on that topic?
Recorded live to stereo using Dynasonic APB ProRack H1020: ruclips.net/video/EmKUbxPBSM8/видео.html

Nice video! You seem to drive your APB in the green. How does it sound driven harder? And where is the APB on a clean/color spectrum in general?
