The idea of changing bond's ethnicity or sex is a death knell for the character waiting to happen. The character of Bond has had some pretty consistent traits through his run, and the more you change those traits, the less like Bond he becomes. Bond has always been an ethnically white Scottish man. His image was based on Hoagy Carmichael, and that visual has been pretty well adhered to along the way, so much so that the common image of him builds up an historical expectation. Could a black person or a female play an excellent spy in a fun movie? Sure, but no matter what you called the character, it wouldn't be Bond. Similarly, you could cast Bond as a female Indian dwarf with a bright pink mohawk and probably make a really entertaining movie, but again, it wouldn't be Bond. The only difference in those examples is the level of change to the character we're talking about. Change his hair colour, fans grumble. It all scales badly from there as the changes become progressively obvious. Fans of an established character tend to feel cheated by these politically driven changes, and the business pact between entertainer and audience is then broken, and they stop turning up with their money. Any man who kills looks banged up, roughed up, damaged. That inevitable trait was missing in every prior Bond actor. They were pretty, debonaire and showed no scars from their murderous past. Craig is not pretty. He carries that eternal pain, that scarred soul, his cross to bear for having killed.
Daniel really perfected the answer to that shitstorm of a question about non white male Bond. He gave the safe answer of “everyone should be considered” but also hinted at his true opinion that Bond doesn’t need to be diversified
Wow omg look have young Daniel Craig look for he 2005 interview to now wow have time flow buy wow 👍
It really has. I feel like I'm in the future
My greatest James Bond Actor
Why didn't they cast Idris Elba for the next Bond? By god is he perfect for the role
Random RUclips Idiot honestly I would rather Idris over the black female who is rumored, I can’t think of a better candidate to play bond than idris
Random RUclips Idiot you just don’t like that he’s black
Random RUclips Idiot Ok no English ancestry, explain why Pierce Brosnan played bond for FOUR movies, he’s an Irish man, Elba is more English than him! Elba is every bit as British as every bond! He grew up in England
@@conor1666 !!..Am a black guy my but would prefer bond to stay white and let the blacks have their own original character. bond has always been white. i rather be an orignal than to copy.
@@mosesgeorge9426 I just don't think the race of james bond matters all that much, Idris is perfect for the part! my problem will be if they make james bond a female, which is completely absurd.
He looked so excited!
Rest in peace James Bond 1962-2021
Most loved and best bond
In the end they speculate about a woman Bond LOL.. Hey Ghostbusters 2016 LOL..
isn't the girls sitting next to him officially cast as the new 007
@@super018
No another dumb rumor. They won't do that. The movie would make about 9 cents at the BO. You don't piss all over the legacy of James Bond. The fans will rebel..
@@dbreiden83080 No, I just checked Lashana Lynch is the new 007
@@super018 in a new Bond movie that is highly unlikely. They may be dumb enough to give her 007 title in the new movie with Bond as Daniel Craig in it. But she won't be Bond in her own movie. Even Hollywood isn't that retarded.
@@dbreiden83080 That sounds ridiculous i know.... But thats true she is the new 007... That has been confirmed.
Dear Daniel Craig you made James Bond a bad ass, ruthless, British Agent of MI6. Thank you.
Could the woman next to him look any less interested?😂
IKR. She only got this big role through diversity. Show some fucking gratitude!
Calm down. You have no idea how grueling these press tours are.
She's a Quayyyyyne!
Woman? where?!
If she can't even act interested in an interview, how would one expect she'd be a good actress in a movie? I wouldn't book her.
I think he is the best bond ever... The hard hit
Stupid to throw a question like that in at the end
rupert916 it’s such a common question, he knows it’s coming
My Favourite Bond ever
Just watched the most recent film and it was amazing! I don’t know if there will be a better bond than Daniel ….oh also there was subliminal messaging in the movie that reminded me of this pandemic…
Very funny photos Daniel craig 🤣
Daniel is trying to say that no, Bond shouldn't be Black or a women, and does it by making a great point in saying create other characters that way. But not Bond. You wouldn't make Black Panther a white man so why make Bond a black man.
Tru tru
This hits differently now 😔😔
A woman for bond? Jesus Christ. His first name is JAMES.
The name's Bond, Jamie Bond. Lol.
Or perhaps Jane Bond :3 or Janice Bond.
Sitting him next to a black woman being interviewed by a black male and being asked a question like that, can't help he felt a little trapped on answering this question... well, i hope so.
Bond is not really a name it's a designation; 007 status.
Ryan Reynolds daughter is called "James". not as far fetched as you think.
The film really nice me watching up James Bond and happy new year. Bye?
So sad that every new movie has to have a mandatory black person, the "diversity" political agenda is so obvious and makes the movies so shit. Bond is and will always be a british man, stop ruining it hollywood.
Amen
Baly yeah where is the mandatory Mexican ? Or Asian ? No where because they don’t complain as much..
@@SupportTheLittleGuy Exactly. I'm Indian (Born and raised in California my whole life) and I've literally NEVER complained about this diversity bs even though Indians are literally *NEVER SHOWN* in American Movies/Shows. And whenever people say "We want Diversity!" they always just add a Black person. As if Black people represent ALL people of color. Honestly, it's just dumb.
@@cashwin45perfectly said !! I am sick of all of this no sense. All of this is just stupid To satisfy stupid people that are actually the racist ones.
Yes exactly. I am very nervous about who they cast as the next 007. Imo it should only be Henry Cavill.
Let’s hope it goes well for him
Can't wait to see Rami Malek as a bond nemesis
The woman is furious 😬
"african AMERICAN bond?"
AMERICAN? BOND?
The right person for the job... 👍
“I wanted to do something that hasn’t been done before”
Oh the irony in that statement
Davion Elliott go on?
Yeh?
Tim Dalton.
when he said et i was like - eric thomas in the house?!
Well, that got awkward fast.
Daniel Craig is wrong-footed by the interviewer, who uses the term 'African American', when I would have thought the next actor is unlikely to be American at all.
Then you can almost hear poor Craig's panicked thought process in that stammering response: 'Oh God, oh God, which is the correct term to use?' And then he overcompensates by widening the scope of the answer. I felt sorry for him here - he seems like a nice guy being dealt a minefield of a question.
Wouldn't it be nice if we could all just relax about this stuff? I don't think I've ever known, or even heard of, a black person who found the term 'black' offensive or disrespectful. Barring some terms that are obviously _designed_ to be insulting, It's all about context and intention, I think. Inventing ever-more elaborate ways to describe someone's ethnicity in order to avoid offending anyone is doing nobody any favours.
Went on to be the best!
A woman? What's next? That the new Shaft will be played by a white woman?
Nooo, that’d be “rhaycist”
The woman "Shaft" will be renamed as "Chute" *Giggity*
@Kai McCook more people than you think. Where have you been the past 4 years? Haven't you heard? Everything has to be catered to those who aren't white or male these days.
But you looked so good in Layer Cake, and you still do!
Layer Cake was POS movie. and so was all of Craig's Bond movies, except Skyfall, and that's because he's not much in it, compared to Roger Deakins. Deakins make that movie watchable, not Craig.
Clearly this was an awkward interview
I love that man!😚💕
If there's going to be black bond, please let Idris Elba play the role :) He has the looks and charisma.
James Bond is white.
Craig and Connery the best
Don't forget Brosnan
Everyone in time been best.
@@antel704 no shit kinda the point of the conversation
As brilliant as he was I can see why people were sceptic at first he looks more like a bank manager than James Bond here
Why is that black c-list actress so Moody and bored
She's probably on her period.
She hates men
She's ready to be triggered at Daniel if he says something about bond being a man
The Colour Rose she’s trying to kill him in the new movie so you are right lmao
She’s probably been been the victim of online abuse over fears of her being the new Bond. She’s probably feeling done with the whole thing and wants to move on with her career.
