Phenomenal piece of writing! I do find the title baffling though. Throughout the novel it is called portrait, and I remembered it as the portrait of Dorian Gray. Yet now everywhere it is called the Picture.

Like you I have always known it as portrait, most odd that it has changed....

Your memory is playing tricks on you. It was published in 1890 as The Picture of Dorian Gray.

It is picture. Americans would say portrait but picture is considered appropriate to Brits
