I was commenting recently on Quora regarding London‘s HOLLÄNDER comparing his complete studio recording with this very one heard here.
By the time of the 1960 studio recording some small signs of beginning vocal deterioration were becoming apparent & I recommended instead this Bayreuth performance heard here as being the best available audio representation of London‘s impact in the role. Besides London both Varnay & Arnold Van Mill contribute mightily to this presentation.

.....I keep listening to this interpretation. It is perfect. A voluminous shining voice with great artistry on stage. We will never hear a voice like GL again.

I would love to see the look on Wagner’s face if he was able to hear this.

Considering how anti-Semitic he was, he'd likely view it as a violation to have his work performed by a Jew, unfortunately.

George London, aka Burnstein, was a russian KHASAR not a "real" jew.

@@grammarnazi3017 I would like to remind You that Parsifal's first conductor (1882) was Hermann Levi, a Jew. The much claimed Wagnerian anti-Semitism was a fairy tale. The famous article (1850) "Der Judentum in der Musik" was wrote against Jacob Meyerbeer, a jew, for artistic and personal reasons, not against Jews in general. Wagner himself had many jew friends.
