I have watched 13th. My best friend and I are so overwhelmed by the information. I want everyone to know that we, as white women, are pissed that we were taught by our "leaders" to question and fear blacks. I grew up in the 80's. When watching the turmoil surrounding race relations I had no clue it was perpetuated by the system. I was well aware of the divide, and thought black people were just mad about slavery. When in fact there is so much more to it. I, in spite of the climate, still chose to treat people around me with respect. I always felt like if the black people who I interacted with could see that I wasn't judging them, that I had empathy and kinda understood, they would do the same and eventually we could work our way out of hate. Well, I see we have a long road, but a much wanted mutual destination of love, acceptance and unity!!
Wow!!!! So much insight here. GAME SHOULD CHANGE , I MEAN REAL CHANGE . THE TIME IS NOW. No captor releases their victims willingly, we gonna fight , may be bloody but we gonna fight for our freedom and that of our great - grand children even unborn children.
After All...Why Does AMERICA play stupid in regards to REPARATIONS for African Americans? They used our labor Free by force 400 years! It was On Our Backs that AMERICA was built! Yet they claim we're lazy & shiftless! The Prison system thrives from profits of Our Black Inmates! The Feds make them work for pennies on the dollar! It's All Modern Day Slavery & WE ARE FED THE FUCK UP!!! NO JUSTICE, NO MF PEACE!!!😤😐
I'm here to point out how counter productive foolishness like this video is. What did BLM accomplish but a sharp increase in black on black murders? Burning down our own commuity because white people burned down Tulsa? How stupid can you be?
I've listened to this a dozen times and it still hits hard. That's why I work everyday to help create a world where everyone can be free and equally deserving of respect. We broke the contract now we need to make it right and be better. We must be better
She broke it down. It was clear, concise, intelligent and informed. This young woman so clearly articulated what is in the hearts and souls of so many around the world.
i come from a poor country, we had really bad times that are not very far behind when people didn't have anything to eat because everything was rationed , we had no freedom , we couldn't protest, we were ruled by a dictator but i never saw a message like this where someone would say that stealing from other people and destroying their lifetime investment was justified! This is the most stupid thing i ever heard! What about hard working or studying or just moving your ass and organize yourself into a better community ? We also had protests recently with hundreds of thousands of people coming into the street and fighting corruption and injustice , but nobody destroyed anything and people even gathered the trash they produced and lots of them stay to clean the street after. When rioters and agitators tried to turn the protests violent they separated from them and publicly separated themselves from bad people. And we managed to stop the corrupt people changing the law and at the next vote we massively voted against them. I see lots of people praising her in the comments! Why ? Imagine that it was you that was robbed or your house attacked and everything stolen from you, would you still agree then?
Daniel Stan We do NOT have to imagine!!! We are living that experience daily!!!! Robbed of our heritage!!! Our language Our names!!! Our parents!! Our children!!! Our food!! Our businesses!! Our very existence!! Why do u ask such nonsense? Do u not read history? How they we got here in the first place??? Please!!!!

I am ashamed of myself that I judged this video from a clip & not the whole video. She gives one of the best economics lessons of the African-American experience I have ever seen. No, I am still not for looting & rioting BUT she explains the accumulation of hopelessness --- rather than wealth & prosperity --- brilliantly
@weird internet person I'm aware. Her name was Elizabeth Magie. Did you know that she actually created two sets of rules? One that rewarded sharing and another that rewarded monopolies. _Monopoly_ isn't a "ripoff", it's a version of the game created after Parker Bros. (now owned by Hasbro) swindled the rights from Magie. Incidentally they opted for one set of rules over the other. No prizes for guessing why.
I start to understand what's going on in US after this video. In Russia I haven't seen this point of view ever. I'll tell everybody I know now about it. Social contract. This is the core thing and this is why those windows are broken. Take care, people. And let me write these three letters for the first time in my life with deep empathy - BLM!
Thank you for this, Anatoly. You know, because of how much I love Russia, I got really pained watching Vesti News paint black people in a bad light. That is powerful. It helped me to understand why this is happening today. Although being a 65 year old white male I have come to acknowledge I can never fully understand what the black race has endured. I see we need to change, but sadly I’m not sure what the answers are. I never really completely “got it” - I still don’t. I can’t... because I’m a white American. Like many of the other commenters, this choked me up. I’ve watched it multiple times now... How could I possibly understand the experience of being black and subjected to the subtle yet profound undertones and undercurrents of a society which hasn’t “gotten it” either. Like many others in American society, I’ve always thought of myself as progressive, tolerant, and accepting of all races and ethnicities. But there is that “privileged” hidden part of myself that questions why so many blacks live in poverty and end up in the “criminal justice” system - surely they need to be accountable for their own actions right?? I’ve condemned the looters and disagreed with the violence for defeating the “cause”. I admit it, but this video has opened up doors for me, and I thank Kimberly Jones for turning on a light in me and for providing me with a perspective I never had before I watched this.
Randall this is where it starts though...your willingness to say that you don't get it but you are listening so you will get it. She is an awesome powerful speaker and like anything else in life, when you don't understand something, you have to be willing to listen and learn. Now that your eyes have been opened, continue to educate yourself on this situation and be willing to also speak up to others so they can be awakened to the issues.
Randall, so glad this is something that has touched you and made you maybe ask a few more questions. Howard Zinn's book "People's History of the United States" was my eye opener because it talks about the history of the oppressed (read brown skinned people) and how the powerful have kept them down forever. There are many books out there, Howard's was my eye opener, I hope you find one out of the many that furthers your education about this issue.
Now that you have the guts to hear an reevaluate the road will be different for you. Congratulations on waking up. You can also check out the Frankfurt school of germany 11 point plan from 1924. That will blow your mind🤯. Goodluck on your new journey 🦋
That's a typical racist statement not all blacks who are locked up should be there--just like the "central park 5" and 1,000 others. Blacks are locked up 10 times faster than a white person who commits the same crime. That's what Kimberly is talking about systemic racist in ALL forms!
Omg!!! She is my Queen!!! In the times I figured I was alone in my thoughts and seemed I was ignorant for what I was thinking and spoke out at the times. Not only did Trevor Noah but also Kimberly Jones speak out on how I have been feeling. And it puts a smile on my face that the WORLD is finally noticing it as well.
Thank you! I am in tears right now. Trying to explain this to people is an uphill battle. No one wants to listen and face the ugly truth. Our experiences have been overlooked and stuffed as if it did not happen. Thank you for speaking the truth. God bless you!
I saw this on Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. This had me in tears. I can't imagine what its like to be a black man, woman or child in this fucked up country. I love you all, with all my heart. Ill stand beside you, fight beside you, and if need be I'll die beside you.
Kimberly, thank you for this. Thank you for helping us understand. I am a woman in my 50's. We were never taught ANYTHING about MLK, blacks, racism, or that piece of history in school. I will be honest...I knew there was racism but never recognized it for what it was. I never really understood. I never understood about what exactly happened for all these years. And it breaks my heart to hear the conversations moms have to have with their kids- especially their sons- just so they get home safely. I also realized it's not just our police system that needs to be rebuilt- it's literally everything. Our laws and opportunities were not created for "equality." That is evident- and must change. Thank you again. Keep up the great work. You are a leader.
And this is why truthful American history needs to be taught in school. It would go a long way to helping black and white ppl understand each other. The problem is they only want to teach about the black leaders who preached Christianity and waiting on Jesus to save us. The leaders who want to take action and condemn white supremacy are either Assassinated, imprisoned or systemically demonized/criminalized. 50 years ago it was Malcom , Black Panthers, MLK .... Today its BLM.
So I’m 24 and while I was in school I was taught about the civil rights movement. Other students and myself were taught that the civil rights and MLK was the end of systematic racism and that everyone is equal now. They put it in our heads that this shit doesn’t exist anymore and I think one of the reason we’re seeing so many more riots and protests now is largely because of it. We have so many people in this country that just don’t understand why people are protesting, they struggle to understand BLM because they were indoctrinated to believe that all these problems had already been solved and this is so harmful to society. We need to listen to black voices because the reality we were taught is not the reality we live in.
The first time I saw this, I did not see how that lady embraced her at the end. That was powerful to me. It was a sign of Black women supporting each other. Happy I purchased her book.
It's her attitude that we can burn down our own community because white people did it before that has led to the worst increase in black on black murder in history.
Kimberly, please run for office. You have the right passion, the heart, soul, and deep understanding of our situation. Please run. We need smart people like you, doing the people's work!
Thank you Kimberly. You're so powerful. You broke it down where a 2year old could understand. I cried because we should have our own. God Bless you my sister.

Luke Gibson You are correct to say that the rioting and looting is wrong and should not be exscused. It is wrong for such actions to have taken place. But the woman in this video is not trying to make excuses about why it’s happening. This is woman is clearly in a state of extreme mental distress due to the abuse her race has suffered at the hands of racist law enforcement. She is saying that they are looting because they have been driven to very edge by oppressive policies and don’t know what to do anymore

@@lukegibson9410 Yeah, and it took global riots to make it happen. You don't see the issue with that? What about all the men and women before George Floyd? Where's the justice for them? It shouldn't take riots to get justice, it should happen automatically and as easily as any citizen faces justice after committing murder or assault. I listened to this clip on John Oliver first when he was trending on twitter. And I was struck. Now having watched the full clip, I can say that the most emotionally charged moment for me is when she finishes shouting out the truth of it all and is consoled off camera. It means "our lives matter" if people didn't think, like you,-calling someone "it" or "animals"- that a black skinned life is valued less then none of this would happen, your precious car dealership would be safe, phew. But those murderous officers think like you, so people are shot in their sleep and when black people meet you they receive the same prejudice. It brews and boils and culminates and here we are. You talk about peace but you can't conjure the feelings of having people in your group killed for minor transgressions, for years and there being no consequences. Picture that- empathise - until you get a feeling of frustration and anger. You smash a shop window to draw attention to the unfairness and people say- that window is more valuable than the lost lives, the murders will continue. I have no sympathy for "tired of being robbed" as clearly "tired of being killed" is more important. You fail to see (again) that part of what slavery was, control, is what black people experience now in police states where death from an interaction is more likely than other countries or if you have white skin. Prejudices that prevent wealth, education or any opportunity are control (see video) so "they" ARE experiencing it now, there just aren't boats and shackles. Time is a flat circle. Clearly the robbing of one person (Oprah) is not something open to everyone around the world who suffers tyranny or supports those entrenched in it. Again logic... No welfare is ever a waste and yes I know how hierarchies work but again forcing people into a place in that hierarchy is tyranny, and labeling the benefits a waste because it didn't "control" the recipients well enough is disgusting. Rubbishing any attempt at equality before trying is pathetic. I can't change your racist beliefs. Kimberley Jones is my sister, i support her. You are my brother and if you wanted peace from actual tyranny i'd support you too. But you want Nazi solutions to find peace and I can't back that brother. No conversation about a thorny issue is perfect, we humans, are not perfect. Every group has a lunatic fringe that might set a fire rather than hold a sign. When the suffragettes protested their treatment they brought change that, looking back, you can't believe was ever opposed. It was opposed by the voice of prejudicial evil. A voice like yours.
@Lying Clown Replaces Evil Monkey You have to get somewhere, if you don't get there, someone will die. It's urgent. You arrive near the place and there's a door you have to go through. You knock politely. You're ignored. Someone dies. You knock harder. You're ignored. Someone dies. You're now knocking so hard on this door to be let in to this place, someone says 'hey you'll damage that door and it'll cost money' who cares right, you're trying to save a life. Politicians, celebrities and sportspeople have been ignored. People are listening now. They may not like it, but they are listening. This isn't about money or gain. It's about life and love. The poorest man is he who's only wealth is money.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏this was the 5 time I've watched this video and it is just as power as watching the first time. So much so I got chills watching and my eyes teared up. She spoke volumes in so few words. I just purchased her book "I'mNot Dying With You Tonight". Can't wait to read it.
My dear Kimberly Jones, the spirit is within you. You have a mighty warrior soul and I honor you for speaking out. I am with you..and I am so so sorry for all that has been done to your people in this country. I am greatly ashamed for my ancestors actions and if I honestly could take this great embarrassment away I would do so. Thank you ...for teaching us...reminding us. WE are taking this country for granted and it's time we give back..listen..and change.
Helen Sanderson As long as there are people like you, open minded, listening to the reasons why things are the way they are, and understanding that the game is rigged there might still be hope. You are not responsible for your ancestors actions and you are definitely "one of us".
As far as I'm concerned this video has already made history, I will never forget this shit, I will scream it from the rooftops. If you're not mad, youre not listening
Nah I am mad. I'm mad that nobody can give me a fucking answer as to what burning DOES tangibly that is positive. You threaten everyone with violence, then complain that people stop you from hurting them or burning their shit down and use a history anecdote. You're just taking away jobs from everyone to feed their fuckin family. So lets you burn it ALL down....now what do you do? No money, no subsidies, nothing. Now what do you do?
God bless you Kimberly Jones, I watch this a few times a year. Especially when I hear qbout another Black child eliminated by police, I don't even know any of them (so far 🙏🏽) but it hurts my heart and every time. So thank you for your powerful words.😢👍🏽🙏🏽
I hear you, Kimberly. Trevor Noah (the Daily Show) said it too. "Black Americans watch time and time again how the contract that they have signed with society is not being honored by the society that has forced them to sign it with them."
Yes trevor noah, barack obama, oprah, snoop dogg, robert smith, michael jordan, jay-z, tyler perry, kanye west, kamala harris (if she counts), and millions of other successful black americans are really oppressed huh.
Kimberly Jones' cogent argument here coupled with her unbridled passion put to rest the lie that we cannot be both emotional and rational at the same time. Of course, Black people have been doing both for centuries, until we went to PWI's and bought into their B.S. that what we see here is impossible. I NEVER want to hear someone use that argument again. My Passion IS My Argument. Sister Jones has made that fact brilliantly clear.
Kimberly Jones...Thank you. You made me understand myself more and opened my eyes to knowing now why I am tired. Thank you for expressing why I'm tired.
Sister you are spitting fire at them and us. Thank you Thank you Than you. I want to rally behind you we need you and people like you. Sister you are strong mighty and courageous in your way and your words thank you for the lesson. Thank you for your power to speak. Sister you are a voice to be recon with please keep this going. I pray you grow and grow and grow. A mighty BLACK WOMAN.
And yet if Rosewood and the Tulsa community had been white, white people would have enacted a scorched earth policy on the perpetrators. We have a Lot to answer for and a Lot of work to do. Her pain and anger bring me to tears over and over. I wont ever completely understand the pain and anger and exhaustion people of color feel, I am a 51 year old white woman. But I am heartsick and angry over what we have done to entrench institutions in our favor, and the disgusting violence perpetrated over and over that so many of my fellows now think is normal and necessary. It is not all about us all the time. We are not the end all be all of humanity. White lives are not the only lives that matter. People of color matter. Black Lives Matter.

On Saturday May 30th filmmaker and photographer David Jones of David Jones Media felt compelled to go out and serve the community in some way. He decided to use his art to try and explain the events that were currently impacting our lives. On day two, Sunday the 31st, he activated his dear friend author Kimberly Jones to tag along and conduct interviews. During a moment of downtime he captured these powerful words from her and felt the world couldn’t wait for the full length documentary, they needed to hear them now.

She broke it down. It was clear, concise, intelligent and informed. This young woman so clearly articulated what is in the hearts and souls of so many around the world.
She’s articulating what we as black ppl in USA living 400+ years!! Wow !!!!!
i come from a poor country, we had really bad times that are not very far behind when people didn't have anything to eat because everything was rationed , we had no freedom , we couldn't protest, we were ruled by a dictator but i never saw a message like this where someone would say that stealing from other people and destroying their lifetime investment was justified!

Thank you for that amazing comment, Joseph. We Really, really appreciate it.

Thanks Ashlea for this comment and understanding the struggle. We really, really appreciate it.
Thanks Kimberly. Unfortunately so many still won't get it. Well said.
God bless you!

Who else sheds tears eaxh time thry watch this or is it only me. I feel the spirit of the ancestors coming through every word and her energy. She's amazing, and broken it down like a scientist.
She's an absolute idiot. It's all BS.
“And they are lucky that what black people are looking for is equality and not revenge”...🙏🏾👌🏾👏🏾🙌🏾 my Lord. That was the stamp of approval. And she has sent it on up. Signed, sealed, and delivered.
Is she sure she doesn’t want revenge?
Paul Brown And if she did?.. would that be a problem?🤷🏾♀️🤔✊🏾
Andrew Man111 , the last 250 years of history, clearly.
April Tarver , yes, that would be a problem. I’ll leave you to work out why.
Joey Peeps thank you Joey Peeps. All lives matters remarks will be flagged under my comment. I am Black. And I will speak from a black standpoint. Black lives matters. This is the movement. Our movement. We do apologize if your race has not been discriminated against enough to have their own movement. Sounds like your feeling left out. Well maybe you’ll understand the feeling just a little now of being left out. We as blacks have been left out of feeling equal for centuries. No equality. I am not white, I do not know what it is to have white privilege in America. This video is about “BLACK LIVES MATTERS”. All lives matters is irrelevant at this point. We do apologize if all the attention is not in the white race for once. SIKE! Sorry. Not sorry. When white privilege is suppressed and oppressed then talk to me. Until then. Have several 🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑. Your exit is to the left. ⬅️ 👈🏾Carry on. 🥱
I have been telling my people this for the longest time.. Finally we stopped hearing and actually started listening.. This is nothing more than the power of the Creators Son working in it's fullest.. Big Sis... if I ever meet you... I owe you the biggest brotherly hug and kiss I have to give... U have the spirit of the one and only true God and your spirit truly touched mine.. Our time is here.. Stay strong.. My love to you always.. peace...
Amen!
I am here sobbing because I just relived a day in the life of my grandmother born in 1917. The strength fear lessons taught stories told while sitting in the dark during storms. The humility, dignity, mental anguish always summed up in a "Lord have mercy Jesus on me" mantra. Working in a field, cooking, cleaning hell nursing their kids and not being allowed to bring leftovers home to her own. Learn your origins people. Kimberly I applaud you. She has no accountability. Making excuses for riots, looting, and destruction.

I watched this with my Mother, here in Australia. Your heartfelt, pain, anger and truth brought us to tears. Yes! Kimberly, White America is lucky that you only want equality and not revenge, after all your ancestors were warriors. I still see the warrior in your passion. Luke Gibson shut up already

@Brent 21 The policeman is facing justice for what he did. Your comment makes no sense.
@@lukegibson9410 Yeah, and it took global riots to make it happen. You don't see the issue with that? What about all the men and women before George Floyd? Where's the justice for them? Cops getting paid vacations and shuffled around to different departments is justice? It shouldn't take riots to get justice, it should happen automatically and as easily as any citizen faces justice after committing murder or assault. The whole system needs to be changed, this isn't about one incident and one police officer anymore, this is the straw that broke the camel's back. People are sick of police immunity, racist profiling, and excessive use of force. Police need to be held accountable to the law like anybody else. Fair is fair.
And she didn't mention 3,445 lynchings from 1880s to 1964 or mass imprisonment of black men, many through plea bargaining when they were innocent but didn't have resources to fight it. Poverty, segregation, indignities, etc. God forgive us. Thank you for teaching us the truth in a powerful way.

I listened to this clip on John Oliver first when he was trending on twitter. And I was struck. Now having watched the full clip, I can say that the most emotionally charged moment for me is when she finishes shouting out the truth of it all and is consoled off camera. The waiting list to get into America is 100000 miles long and the crazy thing is is America is 5% of the world's population yet accounts for nearly half of all legal immigration every year and Democrats are pushing for more. I wonder why that is. If those immigrants coming in here illegally were voting Republican 75% of the time those same Democrats would be manning the border with the AR-15s that they hate so much ensuring that not one immigrant crossed the border.

@Lying Clown Replaces Evil Monkey it seems you've missed a very well explained point. Perhaps try watching it again without prejudice, without thinking theft is more important than state sanctioned murder maybe consider that the pain caused by slavery runs deep and that much needed change seems to fall on deaf ears. But no yeah, theft is way worse tut tut
@Lying Clown Replaces Evil Monkey It's clear you lack empathy and it's clear that hate is clouding your logic. It's clear you value things and stuff over our fellow humans. You're language is divisive.
This Protest/Looting is not about gain it's about attention, awareness, revolution.
