Hot Streak was a jazz - disco fusion quartet from New Jersey, USA, comprising Derrick Dupree (vocals), Al Tanner (lead guitar), Jacob Dixon (bass) and Ricci Burgess (drums). The group started in the gospel field and entered the R&B arena in 1982. They were originally called A Different Flavour and then became Special Forces and had a single, ‘Stroke It’, released on Salsoul.
The group worked with Curtis Hudson and his wife Lisa Stevens who, apart from being members of Pure Energy, had penned Madonna’s huge hit ‘Holiday’. The duo renamed the foursome Hot Streak and wrote ‘Body Work’ for them.
The New York disco label Easy Street snapped up the single and had it remixed by John ’Jellybean’ Benitez. The record, which included a well-known US army chant, became a favourite in US discos, and perhaps not surprisingly, in health clubs. In the UK it shot to the top of the club charts and also went into the Top 20. - Allmusic
