Exactly. It's ridiculous. There have been thousands of reports of all kinds of severe abuse over the past 20+ years conducted by the Church of Scientology. And it took that long to put Danny Masterson away. And he is a public member of Scientology, not even an authority figure in the organization. Not saying all predators shouldn't be put away.

Pope Francis himself said it was "dangerous" for anyone other than the priest and those above the priests to have a relationship with God when the Bible literally says just the opposite. That right there is a perfect example of a wolf in sheep's clothing, not to mention someone who doesn't even know what the Bible says in the first place, and if he does, he is manipulating, lying, and controlling others with his deception! Either way, it makes him very unholy. This is why the Bible warns about wolves in sheep's clothing. You have to read God's Word so you can tell when you are being preyed upon and to have an actual relationship with Jesus yourself and not rely on others for a "relationship"

Though I am a survivor I never felt a day of justice and closure . Cptsd is a forever thing , some broken pieces just don’t get healed or better depending on how the trauma and abuse has affected each individual. These people groom you to believe that not won’t you only be shamed by God but also the congregation and you will be as sinful as those outside of the church . The religious abuse done through that grooming is INSANE .

In many states there is a statute of when the individual remembers because a lot of sexually assaulted children don’t tell until their 30s, 40s, 50s etc. Some never tell.

I grew up in this church. They arent exaggerating unfortunately. As kids we were made to feel completely separate from "The World" as such we werent supposed to have friends or loved ones outside of the church. I wasnt allowed to play sports and grew up without a TV because it was considered evil. I knew John Vandenburg personally when I was a small child. I also knew a couple victims of sexual assault and it was ALWAYS swept under the rug. I wanted to leave when I was 18-19 but was threatened by my fiancee that she would leave. I stayed in the church and with her for another 8 years before I quit for good and she stayed a little longer until she cheated on me and the church turned on her for her infidelity.

The religion / reputation of the members is all that matters!! I was molested as a 14 yo, and my mother did nothing about it when I told her. My abuser - in my mother's presence - said "you enjoyed it". I eventually got the courage to confront them both this year. Conveniently, my mother seems to have memory loss due to illness and remembers nothing of the incident from 35 years ago. My abuser now asked for forgiveness. Too little, too late. I have not reported him, for personal reasons, but I am making my own peace. We were indoctrinated to believe that the church and protecting the reputation was everything!!

Yes that is true, but... when it is a religious leader in churches, synagogues, or mosques...or social work, counseling, dr-patient, or teacher-student...or parent-child could be even scout leader or youth group leader...it is particularly damaging... especially in Christianity bc that person is a reflection of God as a father...these men are in Father roles and they are trusted and damage these children's perspective on God and the Bible...it is incredibly demonic. There is also a power dynamic involved where the children are completely vulnerable. Predators need to be eradicated. I read online some states are now castrating physically and chemically castrating convicted felons. Child abusers are rarely curable even within the church, and truly evil people are drawn to roles like this within churches. They like all predators, seek opportunities when they can be alone, such as visiting and staying to visit here in private homes...or camping trips. Or gyms...a reason why so many coaches have abused kids...famous cases everywhere. They know enough about psychology now all potential people in roles with children should have a psychological test, their homes visited and assessed. Predators will often set up furniture in a certain way, have pictures of children around...there are sometimes signs...I know they do this with the boys and girls club in order to be a one-on-one counselor mentor...even so they should probably now have issues within peoples computer history and image files. They can tell right away with the profuse amount of images people can get...and have addictions too.

Child abuse isn’t just a “Christian” problem. A lot of religions host men or women in positions of power who abuse that power and harm others. What would help is removing the statue of limitations for bringing charges on child ab*se and child s*x ab*se.

what about? I am a Witness and I do not think you know how Jehovah’s Witnesses helped human rights in the US. Laws that benefited majority of people that were taken up in the US Supreme Court. ie freedon of expression, freedom of religion. Look it up.
Additionally, people can always refuse to talk with a Witness. We do not force our beliefs on anybody but we have freedom of expression.
Relative of abused persons can sue those involved. Those leading do not condone those wicked acts. Those who committed such acts are disfellowshipped.
I was a victim of this group in Ohio and West Virginia as a kid. I've kept it secret all these years...now 60 and when I saw this I felt ill...but maybe some Justice will finally come for all of us.

I raised two daughters myself and they are educated and trained in all aspects of self defense . They didn't appreciate it then, but they became amazing women.

That opens up false allegations. As a grape survivor, I wouldn’t want anyone to be falsely accused and imprisoned without any proof or solid evidence.
I have an issue with people sitting on something like this for 10, 20, 30 years or whatever to the point there's no evidence to be had. At that point there's no way to differentiate the liars or attention seekers from actual victims.

From the time you are born you are told this is the only way to Heaven and you witness anyone who has "made waves" being kicked out of the cult and told they will not be able to gain entry to heaven. Fear of "losing out on Heaven" keeps most everyone silent and compliant with the gaslighting. We were told it is necessary to suffer on earth to attain our reward in heaven.

Like others have commented I would say not only child abuse in those far away countries but how many children were taken and adopted out to cult members around the world. Was it done by the rules. I highly doubt it.

Ugh, my maternal grandmother was brainwashed at the age of 16 into this cult. My mother's paternal grandmother indoctrinated her. The local meeting was held in my grandmother's home every Wednesday evening and was bullied by the elder's husband.and wife. She was mentally and emotionally abused by these two and had to account for her absenses if she traveled out of Eureka MT to Flathead valley to visit her children. It was the most uncomfortable experience to attend these meetings with these people. Devoid of any feelings of love or community. My grandmother was under the control of this cult for almost her entire life until approximately the last 10 years of her life.
Her hair was below her bum and after she did research online and came to the conclusion "the truth" was actually a cult that she finally cut her hair short and went no contact with the truth.
This cult was a negative influence in my grandma's life that affected her marriages (twice widowed) and the lives of her children and grandchildren.

I was raised in this cult. The allegations are all true. Listening to the preacher brought back some memories. They demand respect from how convincing they are. I was fooled for 30 years of my life by the mind twisting cultish mindset. Its taken me a long time to free myself from it. I understood anyone who is affected by these type of religions. I thought i was the only one at one time.

I was born and raised in this cult and know CSA victims dating back to the 1930's. Overseeers have been sweeping it under the rug for decades, all while moving perpetrators to another state or field when told about a case. There's No Way this guy "doesn't know" it's been happening. By the time they are overseers they are either perpetrators or covering up for perps. A few have actually been convicted and there's No Way he hasn't heard about them.
