Just installed the 2018 molding to access the mount points on my 2017(stupid subaru mistake). I've been wondering what the install is like and how difficult it would be to take the racks off when I'm not using it. Doesn't look like it would be that much of a PITA. Thanks for the video.

I think it can be taken off pretty quickly. I haven't seen the car for a long time so without looking at it, I really couldn't give you a good answer.

I can tell you that under that strip that the mounting lugs are there. There is probably a replacement strip that you have to buy. I just replaced my roof due to a deer strike and mine is a 2017 Limited.

@@dcdcdc2210 I was just at the dealership about a week ago. The newer ones have a flap where those mounting lugs are, so maybe the black strips are interchangeable? Can't think that they would be overly pricey.

I do not have the car so I'm not sure on the part number. This was on a 2018 WRX I believe so I don't know if they would interchange anyways.

@@dcdcdc2210 Not sure if you've found an answer, but this was only standard starting with the 2018 model. Some late 17's were lucky as well I think.

My 2017 has the mounting points but no access doors. I think you can by the rails for the 2018 but I might just try and drill the 17 ones out.

Roof racks add a similar amount of HP as that v8 anyways, Only for AWD cars tho
