I really love your videos, Margaret :) but this one has something else... it's like a unintentional ASMR ❤
Thank you, Maria! I love that people are into it for the ASMR xx
@@margaretstockton-davies3828Your voice and presence are relaxing and lovely as well as informative.
@@TracyD2 Thank you, Tracy! You've started my day on a lovely note :)
ASMR is like fingernails scratching down a chalkboard
I could hear Margaret recite my shopping list and I would listen intently and probably still learn something. Keep up the good work! x
Thank you, Tommy! Just send over the list ;)
Lol :) :) :)
@@margaretstockton-davies3828 If you don't mind me asking about your accent. I hear Irish, then I hear maybe Canadian? I'm probably wrong, I just wondered.......I'll be watching the rest of the Henry VIII Hampton Court vid later ........ btw, its "Egg's, Milk, Bread and a Vanilla slice" :)
@@TommyFarrell69 You're not too off with Canadian. I'm from California originally but I've lived in the UK for 18 years :)
@@margaretstockton-davies3828 Well I think the way you talk about British history is spot on. I thought I was pretty clued up but you are really good. This whole channel is great. Anyways, I'll stop waffling on now and let you get back to making quality videos................before I go, and if you've not done one already, it would be great if you would do a video of Culzean Castle in Ayrshire, Scotland. Thanks again :)
Once again, Margaret, you have created another wonderful, interesting and thought provoking tour, and so delightful to watch whilst listening to your soft spoken narration. Thanks ever so much, and as always, very well done indeed - brilliant in every way - top shelf :)
Ah - I was hoping you had seen it! So glad it met expectations :) Thank you for your support!
@@margaretstockton-davies3828 You are most welcome -well deserved :)
With recent talk of the difficulties passing the British history exam new citizens take , your shows are an excellent primer for study. You bring it all to light .
Maybe I could be marketing the videos with the Life in the UK books online..!? Glad you enjoyed it :)
I was gonna go to bed before I logged out with you to miss Margaret, and I was nope. Your tours are worth staying up for.
Aw - thank you so much, Chris! I hope it was worth staying up for :)

Hi Mike, I recognize you from British history with Philippa. Your Charlie Brown sticker gave you away. Hope all is well with you. You might have to change the sticker for a Charlie iii. Lol

@@margaretstockton-davies3828 Well thanks very much to you 🙂. I have only just discovered your channel and am vicariously enjoying the informative walks . I do a lot of country walking but also have done a lot of walks in London over the years . Covid put a stop to that and I haven't got back into my old routine as yet but your channel has given me my appetite back for city walking . Also I am getting great ideas for walks and discovering destinations I knew nothing about - like the garden restaurant at the Walkie-talkie building . A big thank you to you and your colleagues ✌️.
Brilliant tour!
Thank you!

What a lovely video, beautifully shot and narrated, I really enjoyed this and learned a lot 🙂Poor King George! I grew up in Kew, so remember Kew Gardens very well (although for some reason I never set foot in the palace!) I certainly recall the Pagoda and it was in a very sorry state in the 1970's, I'm glad it's been restored and people who are brave enough can climb to the top! Thank you for this fabulous tour, now I'm going to subscribe and see what other goodies you have on your channel! 😊
Welcome to the channel, Meganeura!

@@margaretstockton-davies3828 l appreciate you getting back to me 🙏 💜
Amazing video, I have always wondered about the history of the Kew Palace after George iii. The Palace seems so much bigger than what we see in the video, I'm supposing not all is open to public and that all rest of the room's are in need of repairs just like the last few we saw, is this true? I'm an American but have always had a soft heart for George iii. Thank you for talking of a good man.
I hope you can do a video like this on Frogmore House. Who if any lived in the house after Queen Charlotte and her family.
I'm so glad I was able to share this with you, Marian! Yes, there are other parts of the building not open to the public - the kitchens and the servants quarters, too.
I would love to do Frogmore! I know Victoria's mother lived there for some time and then George V and Mary when they were younger - and it hosted Harry and Megan's wedding reception, hah!
@@margaretstockton-davies3828 I really enjoyed how you knew who's room was who's. Many people would have thought the life of George III daughters would have been wonderfull but sadly the more I find out about them, the more it seems their life was very difficult and sad.
Looking forward to seeing Frogmore house video

I LOVE THOSE HUGE COAT OF ARMS!
They’re amazing
Wow Boris really does look like this lot! He has to be a decendent surely?
She reminds me of Dolly Parton
come on boy don't exaggerate
where are you looking
she has a beautiful voice !!😁
can't you see that !!
This is the greatest compliment of my life lol
I just wanted to give some feedback on the white transitions for me personally, it would hurt my eyes and I believe it could hurt other peoples eyes as well. Just wanted to let you guys know and get some feedback overall, I love the videos and this channel.
Thank you for your feedback! I used to use a white flash transition but thought the blur was a bit smoother - maybe not! I will definitely take this into consideration for my next one :) Thank you for watching
Your tours are fantastic Margaret! ❤️.... Kew looks like a very liveable palace. It is on the smaller side and it doesn't ramble like other palaces. I hope to visit one day!
Thank you so much! Yes, it is short but sweet :)
15:46 Boris Johnson...LOL 😂
lol it's not just me, right?!
George looks a wee bit like Tony Hancock, although the resemblance to his mother is striking.
Haha Okay, I confess I had to look him up and I see what you mean! I think it's the eyes?
@@margaretstockton-davies3828 yes definitely the eyes
Why is this palace called Dutch house?
Because it is partly made using Dutch style architecture (even though that style of architecture was actually more prevalent in England than the Netherlands at the time!).
I suffer bipolar disorder and I'm often manic or I'm also withdrawn and depressed. Thanks to modern medicine I'm considered fairly normal
Sometimes it's nice to reflect on the progress we've made!
Queen Charlotte was definitely a black women of light skin. You can tell. Her hair was light brown and powdered, as was the fashion then.
I agree, Sam!
Please speak a little louder. I enjoy hearing you talk and explain everything.
Glad you are enjoying my work, Jacqueline!
Show the homes not closeups of stuff.
Glad that you enjoyed the video! If you haven't done so already, you can hopefully check out our back catalogue of virtual London tours ruclips.net/user/FreeToursbyFootLondonvideos. There is more where this came from.

Please don't mention Boris Johnson name again
lol I promise!

@@beastieber5028 Yes and now I have promised to not do it again ;)
Sorry but I have to say you are gorgeous
No sorries needed, Ian! :)
Very interesting and entertaining. Well done!
Thank you, Nils!
This was a fantastic tour, I love all the history!
So glad you enjoyed it, thank you!
Another amazing video, Margaret My heart goes out to those girls having to live a life cut off from the world.
Imagine the audacity of a king and queen who make time out of their day to be spent with their children. Sets a dangerous precedence. It made me laugh at the absurdity of those who feel the need to comment on every aspect of lives they don't really know. And, Margaret, your reference to King George's bouts of illness only serve to illustrate his absence from duty and family. It was a pleasure to learn more about the man and King as health would permit. I love Kew Palace. When it becomes an air b&b I'll be over. Oh, and did you notice that glimpse of red outside Charlotte's bedroom. Hmmm? Another wonderful tour. And with only glimpses of the hot houses for plants this entire experience is added to my bucket list. Love the gardens and fountains. Cheers 🎉🎉🎉
Oooh 16:54 caught my eye, also... ;) I am glad you liked this one! It's not a 'heavy hitter' like the Tower or Hampton Court but I think the story of George and Charlotte is quite sad and sweet and I enjoyed making this one. Kew is definitely worth a visit and deserves a place on the list! And once it's an Air B&B we'll have the party to end them all!
😊
:)
