    This is a brilliant idea, I would suggest leaning in the direction of multi-car Transportation for car dealership deliveries. I could see this model transforming the car transportation industry.

    This is awesome! I had the same idea for a travel trailer. Why have tall steps and tall stabilizers when you can drop it to the ground!

    Heh for everyone complaining this is expensive.. imagine the R&D, material involved and.. it's a business at the end of the day. Unless I have unlimited funds and time, why build one yourself when they already have one designed. Oh... and if this is too expensive for you.. don't worry because you don't have a car that needs to be put on a trailer to and from the track to begin with lol... cars themselves are an expensive hobby but fun as hell haha..

    having on several flatbed trailers, my most recent one was open in the middle like your new word design and I can say it's much better when it's completely closed off. You should go back to that style like your original one

    • @AirbaggedTrailers
      @AirbaggedTrailers  9 лет назад +4

      +itptires We offer a full aluminum version as an option, as it costs a lot more to make, and a lot of people also prefer the open center trailer for working on their vehicles at the race track (oil changes, etc) and they are easier to tie down cars with. Pros and cons for both designs.

    • @airbaggedtrailers1488
      @airbaggedtrailers1488 8 лет назад +1

      +itptires It's mostly a cost thing, as there's over $1200 just in aluminum, and about three days labor fitting it, plus extra steel (more material cost and labor) in the frame too to support the aluminum every foot or so, so it doesn't sag anywhere. Some people like having the center open so they can do oil changes etc at the track, but mainly it is an optional feature due to being a cost thing, as it adds $2k to the price, and not everyone can stretch their budgets that far.

    can the axles be upgraded to hold more weight? and is it possible to weld and make our own enclosure?

    • @airbaggedtrailers1488
      @airbaggedtrailers1488 8 лет назад

      +SYS The frame, suspension arms and brackets are all optimized around the 4400lb load capacity, so can't be easily made for higher capacity. You can add your own enclosure though. Please see our website and get in touch if you'd like to discuss this further. We'll have an enclosed version at some stage, however this is likely not until next year. If you know how you'd like your enclosure to be and have someone to build it for you, we can make tweaks to the frame design if required to make it easier or better for your application.

  • @abyssalreclass

    Is there a plan for a version that can tie into a tow vehicle's air system (for instance a diesel RV with air brakes) for braking and to air up the suspension?

    • @AirbaggedTrailers
      @AirbaggedTrailers  6 лет назад

      Although this would be possible, as almost all our customers tow with pickup trucks, we include full air systems on the trailers. We could omit the compressors and tank if you wanted, but it would then not have the benefit of being able to be aired up when disconnected to your tow vehicle.

      This is cheap for the quality and design.. I have a custom built smaller trailer that cost 10k and it is nothing like this. There's no way your gonna pay less like a cheaper trailer yet expect to get more.. lol that's what you call someone with a cheap ass mentality lol..

    Do you have some sort of anti-roll system?

    • @AirbaggedTrailers
      @AirbaggedTrailers  7 лет назад

      We didn't add one as tbh it doesn't need one. The Bilstein shocks make it track super nice and we've never had roll issues. The trailer also tows quite low, so the center of gravity is not has high as most trailers. I've also never seen anti-roll bars on any car trailers ever, so is not standard industry practice anyway.

    • @AirbaggedTrailers
      @AirbaggedTrailers  7 лет назад +1

      A live axle will in no way prevent or control roll. A leaf-sprung trailer will actually roll worse, as there's nothing to dampen the suspension, like the shocks we run on ours. The other popular trailer suspension type is the Torqflex type setup, which is also independent, has no shocks, and nothing connecting one side to the other. Anti-roll bars are for going around corners fast (ie. normal vehicles) or if you have a really high centre of gravity (trucks and buses). Car trailers don't need anti-roll bars.

    Great idea! Terrible music!
    A bit pricey, but as long as it holds up and the cylinders/bags don't fail regularly, it'd probably be a great investment.

  • @glennbosch3204

    Great idea! But not very piratical - need two ppl to accomplish the load/unload - can't open doors once the trailer is down - SOL if all you have is your wife around!!

    • @airbaggedtrailers1488
      @airbaggedtrailers1488 7 лет назад +2

      On the production version it is surprising but a lot of cars can open their doors while the trailer is lowered (see our other videos). Typically people have a helper when loading trailers, so the two person thing is hopefully not much of an issue. For individual use though, we have a remote control option if you need to raise the trailer and you're in the car by yourself.

    Set of bags with all the bells and whistles 3k,
    Decent strength winch 1k?
    Welder and high tensile steel 2-3k cheaper for left overs. Less if reusing an old trailer frame..
    Set of wheels/ custom hubs etc 2k
    Might try this at home, good for show cars for long distances.
    12k better be delivered with lifetime warranty....

    • @airbaggedtrailers1488
      @airbaggedtrailers1488 7 лет назад +10

      You will want to add to your $8-9k estimate $2k for laser cut parts (assuming you have the engineering knowledge, CAD software and a few hundred hours spare to copy our designs), $1.5k for powder coating, and then at least 100 hours of fabrication for a one-off trailer (About $8k alone at a shop that does the same work our fabricator does), some more money for steel to make a frame jig to build the frame, and then a whole lot of extra parts you haven't considered (weatherproof wiring connectors, wiring, custom delrin bushings, custom suspension bolts, trailer coupling, LED lighting, $1k custom toolbox, other parts, etc) and you're up to well over $22k. Add an industry standard margin to it and you're nearing $30k worth of trailer, and you still wouldn't be able to offer a lifetime warranty on it. We stand behind our product and offer a good warranty on it, but the reality is that these are built at very low margins and sold at the lowest price we possibly can, so that fellow car enthusiasts can purchase them. If they could be built cheaper, someone would have copied it already at some point in the last four years. We won't drop our quality standards or produce something that isn't engineered right, so it's a $12.5k starting point, or not at all. No lifetime warranty sorry.

      Airbagged Trailers not dissing, you do uk shipping?
      Did look to modify a normal trailer but custom hubs and custom air suspension mounts would take months to sort single handed.

    • @airbaggedtrailers1488
      @airbaggedtrailers1488 7 лет назад

      Ah ok, sorry. We get a lot of hate on the price and it is a bit frustrating because most regular trailers at half the price are probably running larger dollar value on their margins than we are.
      The USA version can't be registered in the UK but I'm working toward having something there by the end of this year. Please drop me an email if you'd like to be added to the contact list for info. sales@airbaggedtrailers.com

      Who in their right mind would long haul a show car on a tiny open trailer without even a rock guard? Enclosed is the only real solution and to save money to load low cars you can use either longer ramps or wheel dollies.

    Maxey trailers makes a much better trailer and for a bit less.

    • @AirbaggedTrailers
      @AirbaggedTrailers  7 лет назад +14

      Maxey's trailers run antique two-link suspension design, their trailers weigh about twice ours, and the approach angle is also about twice ours, so not actually useful for loading low cars. They're also much narrower (less loading room) and actually are similarly priced when you add all the options that we include standard (such as winch, spare wheel, alloys, etc). Having made multiple unsubstantiated negative comments on our videos now, are you a Maxey dealer Justin?
