The Hokum High Rollers do one helluva great job with "Czardas" and I grew up in a family of classical musicians including piano and violin, professionally, so I damn well know the difference. I've watched this video at at least thirty times, and never get tired of it. It really captures the whole range of emotions, dynamics, tempos, power and most of all, PASSION of the Hungarian Czardas dance and music. I always knew they were very talented musicians, but I never thought they could to justice to a great classical piece like Csardas, which ain't easy, if it's played right. Well, they did ! Thanks, Randy, for doing a great job filming this !
The Hokum High Roller videos make it clear that Tuba Skinny never asks enough of Jason Lawrence. I've watched TS for years, but until the HHR videos I never realized that Jason is so talented.
Csardas ( Czardas) was written by Vittorio Monti, the Italian composer, in 1904. It's based on the traditional intricate Hungarian folk dance and music called Csardas characterized by variations in tempo and very fast dancing. It's pronounced "char dash "
nice vibrato on that violin, you know how to make it cry. then you burst out with superior technique, just wild!! that's GOT to be Erika Lewis on the string bass, trying to hide from me 😂. You're all badass musicians for sure. Never knew about this group until now, this groupshouldd go on tour with Tuba Skinny as the opening act.

Absolutely true. His work playing a resonator is room-filling, in addition to his banjo skills. Hoping to find HHR CDs.
Robin Rapuzzi does amazing things with that washboard here.

Robin makes any band he plays for better. Did Jason revive the High Rollers during Tuba Skinny hiatus? Hard to follow when I live in FL - far from NO.
