I have 5 vehicles that have this brake system, all have over 300k and the systems still work flawlessly, watching this for the fun of it, its a great braking system, thanks for the explanation.
I need help. I replaced hydroboost, ABS module, and precharge pump now my brake doesn’t work at all! My reservoir doesn’t pump any fluid it stays full if I’m not mistaking if you pump the brakes with the cap off it’s supposed to push fluid back out right? Well it doesn’t and it stays full so I assume it isn’t pumping!
Halfway House Garage I just found out precharge pump not getting any power I hooked it up direct to my battery and it came on but for some reason the wire not getting any power I changed the harness but still no power. Still having brake and steering problems maybe I need to get the air out the lines now I pray that’s it!
@@fredonthecuttzent.8405 You need to take it to someone who can corectly diagnose it before just throwing parts at it. Im pretty sure those have an electric vacuum pump to supply the booster with more vacuum. You may have a vacuum leak or the electric pump has failed or maybe there is no issue at all. Do your brakes work?
Whoever decided the hydrobost was a good idea should have been fired from their job immediately. They basically leak after 2 years, and that clip is a super pain to get off. The GM trucks that use a hydroboost are a never buy. Standard vacuum brake booster is the only way to go.
I mainly work on diesels so all we deal with are hydroboost pretty much. We really dont see that many failures. This truck was a 6.0 gas but it had over 300k miles and it had never been replaced. This thing leaked a fuck ton though.
@@jimbosammy4255 same here. I ended up getting a new one. It’s expensive but worth it. And I went ahead and bought a master cylinder as well. Brakes work like a charm and no more sponge pedal. Did you upgrade yours to the Lml hydrobooster?

I dont think i would convert any of my older vehicles over to hydroboost but it is a pretty good set up
Putting the clip back on took me longer than the job itself
It can be tricky.

Did you swap the pushrod over from the old hydroboost?

Replaced my brake booster and the dash still making service brake booster. Any clue why still?
What did you do to diagnose the issue? What vehicle?
@@halfwayhousegarage2959 04 Chevy tahoe 5.3 4x4. It was marking service brake booster, so I replaced the booster but the light hasnt went away.

@@halfwayhousegarage2959 yup brakes are perfect and no check engine light and ya I kinda figured nothing is really wrong
I thaught u was going to break it down (internals). Parts change don't make u a mechanic! Gave u a like anyway goodluck with the pump.
Im not in the business of rebuilding hydroboost set ups. When my labor exceeds the cost of buying a new unit, you buy a new unit.
This dude casually has a pistol sitting on the hood I miss those days
Those days are everyday...
Good eye haha

My 07 Duramax hydroboost lasted till Oct. 2021. 220k miles.
Truck runs better than new.
