Great interview. I loved the fact that he doesn't over emphasize the idea of "skill" that you hear from other players development type. If a kid has athletic talent you can coach the skill but you can't coach athleticism.
Not sure, if skill is gameplay combined with technique on the ball, impossible for 12+ year old to get to top irrespective of athletic talents. This is not a hand playing sport, using feet is very difficult to master
@@georgy-vy5fsevery single baller playing pro is a freak athlete that honed their skills not the reverse. You can teach and drill skills born athleticism is a natural gift. Messi is the greatest bc he has the feet and spatial awareness of a All Pro Cornerback. Soccer is the only sport where people try to over think talent.
No such thing as natural talent, it can all be trained/taught. I didnt say one does not need athletic prowess, however ball mastery is much much harder to acquire than improving 30m sprint times. The way the obsession has turned to athleticism, we wont be seeing any more Messis cause they wont get picked at young age. Just My observations
