Veins look blue/green because these colors have shorter wavelengths that scatter more than red light. This scattering of shorter wavelengths is the same reason the sky is blue or eyes are blue. Your body does not produce blue pigment. Instead, light enters deep into your skin (which is translucent), hits your blood vessels, and is scattered back to you with blue being most visible and red largely being absorbed. So the color you see is blue, not red. You'll notice this does not happen when blood vessels are closer to the surface (e.g. veins in your eyes, or skin when you blush)
Did you know that if you rub ice on your wrists it makes your veins look even more blue

So deoxygenated blood is a darker red, but not blue.
@@sierrapadilla808 I hate how many bots like this are going around and recommending people buy random BS like this
Negetive and positive wires.
😂😂
Why then do some people have green veins & others blue? I've had green veins my whole life & recently some of the veins in my arms & hands are now blue.
True my veins are also blue..is it really bad to see veins under the skin?
@@itsorpa1118 no not at all. If they are bulging out, extremely 3D like them yes. However this tends to happen to elderly people with thicker blood. If you’re young then it should be checked out.
