    Push ups!!! My favorite!! I am a push up machine, but these techniques are so helpful! Great material as always, Sensei Matt!

    Thank you so much for this information. I am 68 and do 100 pushups per day. But I have been doing the same thing, every day, for months. Everything you say makes so much sense.

    Thanks again!
    If I don't push myself upright on my legs or with my cane, I can't get off the floor at all. Getting to my feet gracefully isn't going to happen for a long time if it happens at all.
    I was able to walk yesterday. I could still feel some pain in my knee, but the pain didn't become worse through the day. I hope to walk today. If I don't have more problems from walking, I'm going to try to squat again. A week after my fall, the color from the deep bruise to my knee reached the surface. It's mostly green with a little yellow, and I think it may have faded a little already. I haven't looked at it in nearly twelve hours. The color doesn't bother me as long as I get full function again.
    I'll try to get back to pushups. Even if I can only do ten a day, that's better than zero.

    Striking comes from the floor. The balls ofthe feet, legs, hip and shoulder rotation...not the muscles groups of the delts, arms, or chest.

      There is truth in that for sure. But it’s like saying that fighting or self defense is ninety percent mental. It’s not. The fight is mostly physical and the mental part is very important. But spending all our time thinking and training just the mind, with no exertion of the body, just turns you into a philosopher, not a fighter. Pushups add mass and condition the muscles, tendons, bones, cardio system etc... pushups can add power and with the things you mentioned, you will unlock even more speed and power. It’s both, not one or the other.

      @@pasquinilli well, I guess that depends on system principles and style. We are trained as impact fighters; I free fight/open hand, box, kickbox, and have hadthe privilege to train with prestigious martial artists and world class fighters. We are taught that it is ALL mental. Im 165lbs and ive knocked out heavyweights with 18oz gloves on and through their headgear...because we train to use whip strength and torque. We deliver tremendous shock. Nepalese and burmese systems are quite different from Japanese and Chinese.

      I agree with all of your points. And I also believe that there are more ways to see the same things. How do you feel that Bando and Systema compare?

    • @thea.r.c.1914
      @thea.r.c.1914 3 года назад +2

      @@pasquinilli bando is the closest thing to a complete system in my opinion. Bando is an impact system and is very brutal and militant. Many of the other systems look nice and are pretty bit break down functionally very easily. Japanese systems are great for developing breath and lock and hardness. I have seen some of the systema but do not know this system per se. But like my sayaji says, "there are no bad martial arts, just bad teachers/practioners." The symbol of the bando brotherhood is above the United States flag at Guantanamo bay...

    Yeah I use the kitchen counter. I'm a small woman, after 20 my arms hurt.... I'll try to get to 50, but honestly, I don't want to lose my chest so I'll have to look into this. 😂😂😂

      @@aiami2695 I had mentioned this in a previous video's live feed, but I had an ex, many years ago, that had shoved me into the couch and then proceeded to try and choke me out, so i punched him square in the nose and broke it. And given my last ex thought it was a good idea to get 1 inch from my face and scream at me like a Staff Sergeant and threatened to "put me in the ground" because he was drunk, he didn't touch me tho. (my faith in ppl are low now) I don't think kicking would have helped with either situation. But honestly, my last ex suffers from major ptsd from Iraq and he refuses to get help. With his military training I wouldn't have stood a chance with either punching or kicking. I just stood there until he was done, then i packed my stuff up and left. I tried for two and a half years with him, you can't help those who don't help themselves.
