Unfortunately a lot of critique in the comments focused on non bonsai matters which is a shame, no one is perfect! I loved the video, a lot of amazing trees Peter. Must be a very busy time of the year when it comes to repotting. A lot of knowledge and experience between you and Kevin. I love the junipers, always been a favourite of mine even if they take ages to wire.

Lovely episode. Terrific having Kevin (and Chrissy) there. So much knowledge between the 3 of you and a joy to listen in. Wonderful. Some of the detractors fail to hear the wisdom of one of Europe's finest ever bonsai artists and are just missing out. Kevin is phenomenal. Like the trees we purport to love and admire value the insight, difference and individuality he brings. Hang up your hang ups x

Thanks Peter, one of my favourite videos yet. My ficus got nailed by the frost a month back (my fault), all the leaves turned black and dropped as well as the tips of lots of branches/stems.. and seeing you guys repot those trees and talk about root health inspired me to have a closer look at the roots of it. Long story short, I've cleaned it up as best I could after gently removing the obviously dead roots and given it a new home. There was a decent amount of healthy root left so I'll cross my fingers now and wait.

That JBP is going to be amazing once it gets healthy and you start cutting the candles, I have some small JRP that I have been cutting candles for 2 years and they have the most amazing thin dark green needles, maybe only 1 inch long, I'm torn between my JBP and JRP, I hope someday in the future when I am gone, someone will be showing one of my trees care like this. Also great you have Kevin there to help, so many great trees you don't want any mistakes.

You should pull the black pine back out and cut back to a root ball,, to remove all the damaged roots from the Pick and forks,, poking pine roots with metal forks and pick is akin to a greentree break,,they should be cut and their is no water course cut between the roots of the nebari to allow water to get to the centre of the tree in the pot, and he's also using the wrong technique with the chopsticks yeah, yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah........... yeah
