I've always hated Ester Rantzen. She was one of those Thatcher surrogates that always seemed to be sticking their noses into everybody's business while looking down on anyone who wasn't an upper middle class suburbanite from the home counties. See also Mary Whitehouse, Nina Myskow, Lulu & Vanessa Feltz.
i take it ,the video of them rescueing a car from a garden in scotland contrabuted to to them finnishing the series. see the video:- (that's life rescues car after thee years) just type it in the search.
Who's hear after BBC's "The Reunion"? Esther Rantzen, what a wonderful woman.. She's dealing with her terminal cancer diagnosis with the same good grace, humour and forthright intellect. ❤
I remember watching That's Life when growing up. Here I would have been twenty four and wishing it hadn't ended. The theme tune is in C minor (I have a very good memory for tunes!)
The Hanwell version is indeed in C minor but when the programme started the theme SONG was vocal (sung at some time by Stephanie de Sykes) in F minor with Tony Kinsey's in-studio band
@@derekstuartclark I didn't know that, Derek, having never heard or encountered that version. But if I had, the difference would have been clear. I can tell the difference between C minor and F minor as I have perfect pitch!

Yeah, but now look where society's gone to. It's bloody bedlam now. Bring back the proper snot nosed suburbanites.

It was a magnificent TV Show. Even some people from Serbia know for it(like me for example).

What was the reason That's Life came to an end? It was so long ago now I can't remember. Did Esther resign or was it ratings or something else?
Ratings went slowly down from the mid 80s onwards and it was even moved to Saturday nights towards the end of the run but the show had run its course
she' all heart! brutual truth is probably wright
Thought it ended years before
Maybe John Major had a thing for her as well as Edwina Currie. Two Jewish birds, I suppose it's possible.
Sausages!
I liked the show but just could not stand Either! Ugh!
What I heard was BBC one had a new controller Mr yentob he axed the show
