- Join a Montana Bowhunting Elk hunt with Host Willi Schmidt. He has bow hunted this same area for three years. This year is hot and smoky and starts off slowly but picks up as the hunt goes along. Willi knows the caliber of bulls in the area, and he hopes to be patient and that his patience pays off. It was Close Encounters of the Wapiti Kind in Season 10 of Pure Hunting.

How many people noticed at the beginning he had pink fletchings on his arrows then part way through they are yellow??? Seems a bit strange I’d say.
If you followed the episode, you would know there were a couple of years of footage there. Different years, different arrows. 🤷🏽♂️

Just from this footage, notice how you are out of position? Rethink this. Would have been a huge game changer to have a caller with you. Good luck this season! PS or try the bottleneck strategy.
I’m curious about which encounter footage you’re referring to being out of position?obviously having a caller is a game changer but on some hunts it just doesn’t work out, like on this one. If you’ve ever watched any of our other elk videos, when Chris and I work together, we’re pretty successful. I’ve killed a number of bulls solo as well but it’s a helluva lot harder and so much needs to go right and those damn bulls don’t let that happen often. 😉. The benefit of hindsight is huge and if it always worked it wouldn’t be as fun and we wouldn’t learn. Always learning new stuff even after all these years.
