A couple things I forgot to mention! ⬇⬇ 1) I'm also trying to get better at considering if a design will look good on various body shapes (I'm 5'1" with 32" bust, so designing for a range of chest sizes is important for me to remember!). 2) I try my best to avoid gendered language on my website (because I don't think it's useful these days to assign people how to dress), so I sometimes like to lean into designs that can be worn by more male-presenting bodies too.
Love your channel. ❤ Great tips and tricks. And lovely to see things from the inside of clothes design and business perspective, delivered in a fun way.... I think you might be my new favourite youtuber... 🤗 Thank you!
Glad to have found you, Charlie. I share your love of linen & your designs are just beautiful. That selvedge edge collar is such a wonderful detail & looks gorgeous :) I'm very happy to see that you will be releasing sewing patterns and I hope to make some of them in the future. I envy you your entire bolts of linen, haha :) Wishing you every success!
Thank you!! I was so excited when I nailed that selvedge edge collar haha, it is so much better than trying to do a frayed edge! I can't wait to share my sewing patterns with you very soon :) and trust me, having this much linen in my possession is dangerous, in a good way lol
I just found your channel or it found me! I'm Monica and I absolutely love linen as well. And sewing to create. I'm super excited for you and glad you decided to start a channel. What a great adventure! I love the name, so cool! I subbed and will be watching. Good luck to you! One of a kind artist!❤
Hi Monica! Yay I'm so glad to hear from you :) and that you came across my new channel. Lol it's definitely a new adventure, but I'm really enjoying it! Thanks so much for the kind words, and I look forward to connecting more on here!
I’m so glad I found your channel. I have been sewing for many years, and one of my favourite fabrics is linen. It’s so earthy, comfy and gorgeous! I’ve ordered all your patterns. Looking forward to seeing a flow maxi! Do you have plans for such a pattern? I do hope so. Enjoying your energy!
Thank you Lynn! Your kind words mean SO much to me, and my next sewing pattern is going to be for my GYPSY MOTH maxi dress (www.charliedarwintextiles.com/product-page/gypsy-moth-dyed-boho-linen-gown ). Keep your eyes peeled in the next few months :)
@@charliedarwintextiles That's super cool. Not trying to gain your operating systems or anything, but just wondering: you determine how many of each garment and size and sew them accordingly? I think that however you figure out what/how many/what sizes, it's really impressive, given you're doing everything yourself. Good luck!
Thank you! The way I do it is that I cut and sew the clothing after an order has been placed. This allows me to create everything custom-sized by height, and keep minimal inventory! Thanks for asking :) @@kaygee8343

@@charliedarwintextiles so wait! Charlie Darwin. I'm slow, have you specifically named your company after Charles Darwin?
I did! You can read more about it on my about page :) www.charliedarwintextiles.com/about @@jmjanacek4335

So interesting to hear your thoughts and process. I love your aesthetic.
Thank you! 😊
Was just curious to know who does all the manufacture of your designs? Do you sew all the garments by yourself?
I do sew them all myself at the moment! As my business grows, I would plan to hire someone locally to help me sew at some point 👍 thanks for asking!
