I will agree the Genasun charge controller is awesome. My home brew solar generator (thank you OH8STN for the modular design!) has the GV-5-Li controller and it is definitely RF quiet! I would recommend them without hesitation. 73 de N0SR
Holy crap i just now know what's been causing the RFI mid day thank you eric! I'll be driving around looking for pannels in the neighborhood very soon!
I am shocked at no noise from controller. I have a much higher power set up. using Morningstar tri star MPPT controller and I get hash noise as well . night time is not a problem . but if I want to work HF during the day ? forget most bands . forced to disconnect panel to hear ! I did put hash chokes on all leads and it did help and 6M it help a lot. I tried caps to ground and made it worse . just the coil did the best. got the idea from a BBI video with LD MOS 50V switcher making hash noise in receive . He put hash coil on 50V switcher and the noise went away in receive. a switching power supply is like MPPT. using mos. fet's at high frequency. I don't use switching supply for the hash noise problem. this hash noise is also from wind and water power into a controller. Thank you . 73's
Please can you wire up the solar blanket to this charge controller and see how long it takes to charge your external battery, just to get a real world view how long it takes, as blankets are less efficient compared to fixed panels, but easy to deploy in the field. Keep up the good work 👍
some solar charge controllers are nasty, I have a Renogy 10 amp PWM on a lead acid battery and it doesn't seem to cause me problems at all however I used to have issues with Grape Solar panels on my porch that had all sorts of noise problems with them I changed out the wire supply lines and no more noise, they blew away in the last storm so no more noise now for sure.:) I have a Victron charge controller aswell and don't pick up noise from that either. What do you have in your RV? These charge controllers that Gigaparts have aren't interchangeable with SLA and Lipo and costly too! Lets hope they can set up one that does more than ten amps and can do more than one battery chemistry.
Hey, Is there any update on your Autonomous Satellite Tracker? I think I will build one myself come these next few months and would love to know how its doing now.
Most charge controllers have a grounding lug or can be ground from a mounting hole or heat sink. Have you attempted grounding your inverter and charge controller to chassis or to a rod?
In 2001, the European Union put into effect the standard IEC/EN61000-3-2 to set limits on the harmonics of the AC input current up to the 40th harmonic for equipment above 75 W. What would be of interest is to know which brand you’re currently using and country of origin.
Very good product for a ham on the go. But, a bit underpowered isn't it? My one and only solar panel that I mount on the roof rack of my car when I get out in the field is 100W, which will surely burn this thing right away. Is there a higher powered version?
I haven't been on HF lately, other than receiving.. I think when I finally get my tower up i'll get that HF bug again, but when I do, I run 6m, 10m, 12m and 17m mostly... I love when I make contacts on 12 meters.. Worldwide
@@HamRadioConcepts right after I got my general license I got a Icom 7100 and an antenna from then until just the other day I cannot make contacts and was highly discouraged finally I figured out it was the antenna so I bought a new one your videos and channels kept me interested in the hobby after putting the new antenna up 30 minutes later I made a contact in Brazil Thank you 73
You need an MPPt charge controller that will accept 48 v and it will convert down to 12 volt. My solar on the RV is 72 volt and my battery plant is 24 volt. The MPPT Controller handles it all

Hmm, will have to look into the Genasun!.
Like its small size which is important for keeping weight down in portable ops
Good info Eric, Thanks! I was looking at the EPEVER MPPT Solar Charge Controller 40A 150V PV Solar Panel Controller. Have not gotten one yet.
Thanks for that great demo and information, i am getting one of these
I have the GENASUN GV-10 version, 34v/140w max solar input. I have never checked for interference but will definitely check soon.
How did your testing go?

I liked them so much I bought 2!
One nice thing about using the load output is that it will cut off the load once cells get down to a certain voltage.
Eric ROCKS 🎸💯👍 Happy sunday & 73's de Your Friend Uncle Guenter from the German Frontier
Hey Uncle Guenter, thanks for the support you always give!! 73
I would love to see your wiring diagram for your RV’s Solar hook up.
I’d have to find my clipboard, since I moved I don’t know where it is..
I wish they made them a lot bigger. I have 1.6kW of panels and need something that can handle 60 amps or more.
Close the lid on that box (which is essentially a Faraday cage) and you'll get much better results.

Will try a rod
sure they are from your house?? i have the same birdies up here in iowa on 10m to
Is there anything you can do with ferrites to lower the noise from the Chinese controller?
I need to try that

The Genasun GV-10-Li-14.2V, 10.5 A MPPT Charge Controller for Lithium (4S LiFePO4) battery is rated for up to 140 watts
When are you on the radio and what band do you normally run on

A friend gave me a 48v solar panel. Can I hook it up to this and charge my bioenno 12v batt ?? Even though it's 48v it will only use 12v of it ?

So how much do these, good controllers, cost?
I have this problem....not as bad but I live in a solid panel neighborhood so I just live with it
Nice..............................
Second!
I’ve been wondering how noisy solar systems can be. A local ham I know lives off grid with solar power and said it’s noisy on 80 meters.
I had a MPPT charge controller on my previous RV, it killed HF like your demo and well into the VHF range. Horrible noise makers.
Good to know.
