Also known as «azúcar quemada» or roasted sugar..sugar gets caramelized by the hot charcoal, and if you are up on a mountain you'll use some boldo 😌 available in central and south of Chile.. You could add mint, lemon verbena, paico or wormseed, and other herbs... That and roasted goat cheese omaigooooo 🤤🤤🤤

Nescafe really isn't good, but when I was in downtown Santiago on a cold winter, I bought some from the street vendors. It definitely has its place lol.
Good video!!!

Jon, I have to say it, if you someday go to Algarrobo you must visit Café Delicias de Algarrobo in the downtown and order an "café azteca". In my humilde opinion is the best coffee in Chile. Grettings
Thanks for the video. Can't wait to reunite with my mama in Santiago. Been separated for almost 30 years. Love learning about Chile through you. I use an aeropress and pour over method for my coffee
Hi, you should try the coffee made out of piñon, the fruit of the araucaria... I do have to warn you, it is not for weak stomach so go easy on it, it can reaaly kick in. Nice channel, love it!
I think it it is a probably a very good time to travel to Chile. The protests I believe they are over and prices should be a lot cheaper for hotels, tours, etc. It is amazing how a few violent people can ruin it for everyone.
Hello Jon! good video, as always. I don't like coffee, so I don't drink it, last time I drunk a cup of coffee I almost die (and that was 20 years ago), I don't like tea also, I only drink green tea with honey when it's completely neccesary, otherwise, I drink tap water or fruit juice. Best regards!
Honestly,I don't mind what is the topic,I really enjoy going around the beautiful places this nice person take us....I grew up drinking cafe de higo (fig coffee) already gone a long time ago.Now I can drink very high quality coffee, but I really miss the surroundings
I had a similar coffee experience in Bolivia, Jon. Cafés exist and you can get your cappuccino, cortado, americano, etc. (and interestingly enough, most people that go to cafés have their coffee in the afternoon or evening, not the morning). However, most people just keep some nescafe and a thermos of hot water on their table, and pan con café (o té) is a very typical breakfast/dinner that you have while you chat with your family or friends.
Hey, Jon, my cousin and I will be riding our motorcycles across the whole country of Chile next month. We'll start in Arica on 1/9 and finish up in Punta Arenas somewhere around 1/24 to 1/26, depending on what kind of time we make. Anyway, Linares is on our route, so I thought we might try to meet up with you if the timing works out. Let me know what you think.
I love soooo much coffee, just like you. When i was working, was my only moment of peace. "Nescafe" is so bad.. sorry.. but with milk or a ton of sugar it's tasty. Last year I bought my coffee machine and it's my savior. Only expresso but it's enough to start my day. I drink "Café Caribe" tradicional today. Mnnn. Kudos!
A good quality homemade decaffeinated carrot coffee is much better than the" socks' juice" many coffee shops offer here in Chile...Besides ,many a times both the owners and employees forget to serve the product with an acceptable face or good manners....They serve it rudely as if you were not paying....That's why many caribbeans immigrants are better at that issue...They serve grinning from ear to ear ,small gesture that really helps clients to have a better day...
Instant coffee is not good. But it is very practical for people who eats minimum breakfast like me. But I use real coffee in the afternoon in a French press . Super useful to make coffee or tea or mate, have you tried mate?
Hello To all of you guys 😊 Live coffee ☕️ too!! Thank you for sharing your experience with coffees in 🇨🇱. Always a pleasure to watch your videos. Sending you blessings and hugs 🤗
I think it's because the European coffee culture entered the North American coffee culture that you now see so many "High-end" coffee enthusiasts especially in the cities and high density places. Anytime I tell my friends I don't drink coffee, they all look at me like I'm a ghost!!!
World Wide Wong haha!! Really? Maybe it’s more of a trendy thing too then? Interesting that they look at you like that! Maybe they just needed coffee and were just looking tired? Hahaha
Hi! I'm Paola, from Chile and i looove coffee. I have a grinder, a dripper and paper coffee filters (and a coffee kettle too!). You said instant coffee is cheaper than coffee beans, but it's not so much like that, because a kilogram of good brand of coffee beans (Luccaffé, for example) costs around US$28 and a kilogram of instant nescafé costs around US$23... and, come on, anyone would spend $ 5 extra on coffee if it was worth it ;)
Miguel Campos es that taste like burn beans, ugh. The best coffe is nespresso and Nescafé from Chile because it doesn’t taste like the one in the USA. I don’t know why. Maybe the water or sugar etc
Although I agree with the fact that most chileans drink nescafe, there's a rising third wave coffee culture specially in Stgo, last weekend was the national barista championship and the expo café, I would recommend you to check that out, and also invite you to my cafe to taste some great coffee beans freshly roasted in stgo and if you want I can recommend you some cafes around stgo that prepare great coffee too :)

Hola Jon. No sé debe usar prolongadamente o mejor no usarlo. 💖💗♥️
Coffee in Chile is not very good, service (gas) station and instant Nescafe is horrible . There are a couple of good places in Puerto Varas that do good coffee I've found, but overall the standards are low and prices are expensive for what it is, compared to places like U.S, NZ or Australia for example.
I don't know about you, but I haven't got a clue what the last lady in the video was talking about. Sorry, coffee. It's funny, I rememeber a dear gringo friend who used to pour sugar on his coffee, I never understood that. My morning coffee, in general, has to be @ least 18gr of ground coffee, no sugar, no sweetener. Had I had a good night sleep, I might add some milk. Lately, though, I've been buying the cheapest brand cause everything's so expensive..
