    I saw your review, and bought one for the kids attic bedroom we are building. In the mean time, I got it today and used it on my 100" elite screens pull down, and am amazed how well it looked. Colors dialed in perfectly. Once it got dark, we watched The Mandalorian, and was blown away. Hooked up an ATMOS sound bar under the screen, and used a Roku feeding the sound bar, then HDMI optical to the projector. It griped about not supporting Dolby Digital the first time, even though the sound bar supports it, but once I clicked OK, it went on (Had the volume on 0 on the projector). I had tested the speakers earlier, and they sounded as good as any TV speakers do. Will be perfect for the kids room when my Tri-laser projector gets here in May. Until then, Im using it. The kid can wait. Thanks for the review. I would never have heard of it or tried it otherwise.

Would you mind sharing which settings you use to get the best picture quality with the most natural colors (image settings and color temperature)? I'm not really happy with the out of the box colors over HDMI and the ones I briefly see in your video (11/-20/-24 for the RGB gains) still look somewhat off on mine, so I guess there are some other tweaks to the settings that I haven't done.

    Great info. I was debating what to get for my bedroom and the list finally came down to this, NexiGo PJ40, or the Q8 or RD830 (both from Vizony). After considering my needs the NexiGo got eliminated due to its throw ratio and the RD830 because they only ship once a week and I'm impatient plus xmas lol. But you brought up something I had not considered. The sealed lens assembly. Apparently Vizony opted to put it in the RD830 and not in its $10 cheaper sibling. The claimed extra 100 ANSI Vizony was claiming now is a moot point if it gets dirty. I went with the Apollo which will be here 2 days before xmas

    I bought the growview jq818c on sale it's about 600 ansi lumens and has really good focus uniformity and contrast but out of the box the colors are a little yellowish and washed out
    So i spent a couple of hours tinkering with desktop color settings and video color settings in nvidia control panel i have it connected through hdmi to my HTPC
    i had to adjust the gamma of each color channel on it's own i increased the red channel gamma and decreased the blue and green a bit and increased the color vibrance and saturation and decressed the sharpness to 5 throught the projector picture settings now the projector has a really good image and colors
    Spending some time and effort with a budget projector really pays off

    Thanks for the review, but I recently bought the Wimius K3 for 100 dollars and I'm very impressed with it! You can adjust the white balance too. After calibrating it with displaycal, I got about 75% of the srgb color space. It has a native gamma of around 2.0, but I calibrated it to 2.2.

    • @Toid
      @Toid Год назад +1

      That is pretty cool. I use display cal as well for my computer monitors. Something to note though, is that display cal doesn't calibrate the projector it instead creates a color profile for the computer. Which is great as long as your only source is the computer that you used for calibration. If not, then as soon as you hook any other device to it, you have lost all your calibration. The calibration done in this video is the calibration of the projector itself. Just manually changing settings, so that way it looks good no matter the source.

    • @JuanGarcia-lh1gv
      @JuanGarcia-lh1gv Год назад +1

      Thanks. I know, I was just using displaycal to measure it's white point, gamma and brightness. It was something like 8500k, 2.0 gamma and a contrast ratio of 1100:1. When set to 65 inches, the light reflected from the screen was around 70 nits. I think it can do between 450 and 500 lumens ANSI.

      In didn’t test the actual brightness as I calibrated the brightness to REC 709 which is much harder to do. I will say this though, it is bright enough to watch with some lights on. But the goal should always be how close to REC 709 can you get it. Then test the brightness. Maybe I’ll update my findings on my website at a later date.

      Agreed. Xgimi is usually ranked higher on my leaderboards. They are just usually more expensive. But if you can afford more, I’m all for the Mogo two pro. As significantly more colors and accuracy. Great projectors.

      if you curious how projectors can preform take apollo p40 by I suggest to you invest more and look for 3lcd, dlp or laser projector this apollo p40 its just for small inches you can go more than 80 inch it will suffer from brightness and focus the corners of the screen are not harm and little bit unclear.

      @@tokztokz8224 Hi, thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I have a budget and with what I can spend I have to decide whether to get a new LED projector such as the Apollo P40 or a used DLP/3LCD projector from a few years ago such as NEC NP-M402H, BenQ MH530 or Sony VPL -CH350. What do you suggest me? Should I get a new LED projector or a used DLP/3LCD? And between dlp and 3lcd which technology do you recommend? Thank you.

      First it depends on your use and how big you want to go and is it for gaming or just night movies or day watch then do serach if you find a good clean used projector ( Lamp hours few and it can be replacble) or open box projector that fit your budget or little more go with it. on the other hand, if you dont have space to go big like 100 150 inch then I suggest to you apollo p40 as it good one and it has good clear picture I really enjoyed it but when I change to dlp projector I saw the different and it was big. apollo p40 only for movies night and dont be so foucs about colors and bright. it perform good but not exellent. I hope this benefit you and good luck. @@francescoaurilio9154

    How he compared a 4k Projector with 1080p even the colors kinda match the resolution still huge thing. For sure there will be no sharpness and details for 1080p compared to 4k projector. Even if its supported 4k signal believe me its still not near to 4k. Don't get confuse.

    Ultimea Apollo P40
    Received yesterday.. am very disappointed. It's bright, but fuzzy despite the automatic, whining an unbearable high tone, a hair on the display and two pixel errors, rainbow effect on the edge, no audio setting, only 60 min timer, never goes out on its own, nested settings, red color is more orange-red which cannot be changed, straight lines on the display tremble and cause interference, HDR is a joke... in the end the design is more of a dust collector.

  • @FixitFrank

    Im lost here. That picture is bad... You can't compare it to a JVC. The build quality is incomparable. You can't expect it to last more than a year.
    Getting into home theater is best to go used with a proper name brand.
    And $500 is the bottom to go for a new name brand. These budget boxes are a scourge.

      What a pompous response. So all products are bad unless they are a name brand and a certain price? And because of that they won't last? Glad we have you here to to set us straight with your predisposed thoughts and narrow view. Thankfully some of us appreciate the data given and can see it is good for it's price point.
