    Hi. A good video. I am English and have a CELTA and have taught in Spain, UK and Switzerland. The last ten years I have been in another profession but due to the lock-down I am considering going back to teaching EFL which will now be on line. What has always amazed me is that many foreign EFL teachers know the language much better than UK citizens.

    Another great feature is the breakdown rooms: you can give a task and they complete it in the room.

    I was offered the opportunity to teach a group of several children (on separate screens) using zoom but I could not see any way to make teaching on zoom to be remotely as interactive as teaching in person to a class...and this video just reinforced that teaching by zoom can't be any kind of substitute

    Engaging? Sorry to be the devil's advocate or criticize, but I see about 80% TTT, and about 20% STT. I'm about to take a teacher's licensing program, but this is something very important in even TEFL courses.

    Hi! Is there a way to not use bilingual dictionaries when I try to recall a word when I write or think in English? For the physical objects of the world (such as a rafter, a scraper, a condenser, etc.) I can use visual dictionaries. But what about abstract ideas (such as 'ambiguous', 'malice', 'deduce', etc.)?

  • @minahashemi2506
    @minahashemi2506 4 года назад

    Hi Hadar. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to watch the live stream. I am an English teacher and have only recently started teaching online. I have so many questions. For example, how long do you recommend online classes to last? Is one hour okay? Or is it too short? Also, sometimes you will need to write things down for the students, and an online class might not allow you to do so, at least as effectively (I noticed you forgot to share the whiteboard feature on the app). Anyway, I would love to get your thoughts on these questions. And thank you for your videos.❤

    • @hadar.shemesh
      @hadar.shemesh  4 года назад

      I think one hour is more than enough. If it’s 1:1. For a group I’d say 1:15-1:30
      If you need to write things down use the chat box , or the whiteboard - it’s very intuitive.
      Here’s what I recommend , download zoom and start a meeting, test all the features so you gain confidence and then you can even try it with a friend and ask them what they see and how it feels on their end. Then do it in a class.
      Good luck! I’m here if you have more questions
