Congress should not be allowed to vote to give themselves raises! No one else can. It should be left to a referendum by each district every two years as to which congressperson deserves a raise.

The house controls the pocketbook. I think Congress shouldn’t make any money! It’s a public service position. Serve your term and get out. If you wanna make money go in the private sector. You don’t make any money in local politics; it’s all volunteer. Every level of politics should be that way, including the presidency.

The social security "fairness" act has proven itself out to be a government workers "preference" act. It only increases benefits for government workers while the 70% private sector is apparently considered nothing short of invisible. But who should be surprised, at this time, that governnent workers should vote to provide more aid to government workers when a third of the country are now government workers dependent on the tax payments of non-government workers (field laborers); and the government has become the essence of a fuedal landlord.

So they now will be collecting benefits at the first bend point due to the way the AIME and PIA are calculated they get the added benefits of the 90% first bend point. …. So if you worked in the private sector for forty years earning the exact same amount as someone that worked in government for 30 years and 10 years in the private sector they will be in the first bend point for social security. … The private sector worker gets pushed into the 2nd bend point. …. So the private sector worker workers pays for the government workers pension and gets a smaller calculation on their social security if they eared then exact same amount over the same forty years. 🤔

Thank you, Statesman Kennedy. I would like to see social security change its guidelines. The disabled people drawing benefits and many who are retired are held far under the federal poverty level. As you have pointed out, money has been given freely to illegal aliens. This has been done while many on SSI/SSDI are living in poverty or only one bad event away from going under. This needs to change.

Absolutely correct! I worked all my life paid into Social Security since I was 18 yrs old. A severe car accident happened to me at 27; left me disabled in my legs. I recovered, went back to working full time in NYC 25 years past the car accident. Then cancer struck which gives you another set of debilitating disabilities!
I retired out on SSDI in 2011. My SSDI pays rent, Medicare and Part D insurance. It also covers gas & electric. SSDI is taxed if you have asset remaining, too! I applied for NYC benefits for help twice once my assets dwindled. NO! Twice I was denied help. No EBT, no rent cap, no help with anything! I pay copays for meds, incontinence supply because Medicare covers nothing but hospital stay and physician visits. I live now with about $100 a month. Ridiculous! They’ve been giving my benefits to migrants that are illegal, benefits I paid into all my life for my old age!!! 😖😑 City has no money for ME. I’m almost 63 years old. When is this going to stop? Elders, disabled and veterans are tossed aside. Nightmare!

The average annual benefit for a retired teacher in Louisiana is $43,232, as of June 11, 2024. The majority of retired teachers in Louisiana earn between $28,600 and $48,700, with the 90th percentile earning $54,300.
