I have a question, which reducers are recommended for the Esprit 100 ? I own an starizona apex ed(L) and an TS Photoline 0.79….any idea? Thanks in advance ! Claus
Claus, the Starizona Apex ED-L is the only reducer designed around the Esprit 100 from the get go. There are third party ones that may work and we have also heard people using the Riccardi reducer offered by APM. But we have only used the ApexED-L here.
So. I have the 150 on order, and i know its made with imiging in mind how ever, i would like to use eye peaces in it( for now). Witch rang ( mm)of eye peaces would be a good match with this scope both for planatry and DSO or even 1 or 2 all around "got to" eye peace. Other question,,,, Is there a diffrence in scopes from the red block letter logo s.w.esprit and the black letter galaxy spiral logo s.w. esprit. I believe im getting the red block letter logo one , at least thats the one advertised in the online store i ordered from. Thanks......Joel
The Esprit 150 has such a good optic that any eyepiece works. My lenses range from around 40mm down to 2.3mm and the 150 (depending on seeing conditions) can use them all. For a quick cover though something like a 30mm for wide, 15 to 17mm for middle and then maybe a nice 7mm to start. Depending on your needs you can fill in the gaps in between that you prefer. There is no difference between the colors. The early models has the red coloring and the newer ones have the green but nothing else changed. Everything now that is new is green, if you are seeing red (unless its used) will be green when you get it. It sounds like the website showing it has not updated their pictures. Hope this helps. -Kevin
This scope is spec'd at Magnification: 17 - 283 x. I am just starting to get into astrophotography and I'm wondering how you adjust the scope to get these different magnifications? Thank you
Hello thx lot for your Esprizzz Lesson and overview :) I have the Flag Ship, i use it only for observation. Do you have a tutorial Video to upgrade for starlight Instrument focuser.
Hi Kevin I’ve ordered an Esprit 100ED from FLO in the UK. Your original Esprit overview video from 7 years back specs the Eaprit100ED as having a 2.7” focuser, and in this video you mention the focuser is 3.4”? On my local vendor’s website in the UK the spec is 3”? Which size is the correct one? Also, is the main element FCD-100 or FPL-53? Many thanks
Hey! Like you, I've been eyeing the Esprit 100ED from FLO !!! :) Still, I'm going to get the RedCat 51 first with the HEQ5 mount which should be able to take both scopes. So how are you finding the Esprit?
@@SkyWatcherUSA Really? I have an EQ6R Pro and have an Esprit 150ED on order! The EQ6R Pro manual says is rated at 20kg for astrophotography (and the 150ED is only 15kg). Why does the manual say that if it's not true?
@@redabdab The original question was about the AZ-EQ6, not the EQ6-R. The EQ6-R will handle the Esprit 151, but it will be at the very top end of its payload capacity for astrophotography.
I've had my Esprit 100ED with a Moonlight Express Nightcrawler. Well worth it, with ZWO 2600MC-P, ZWO 2"x5 EFW on a SB MyT. WO Z61 guidescope/290mm guide camera. I find it has been the best "all around" combination of FoV, speed, imaging I could ask for. I am considering something with a longer FL for some of the smaller objects like M51, so the Esprit 150 is under consideration.
Skywatcher Esprit won't be considered the equals to the AP, TAK, and other brands if their aim is just to catch up and match up the performances of the premium brands. Skywatcher should plan on surpassing them, out performing the established brands.
Great show👍 ,, question for you kevin ,, what is that captins wheel ring on the back of the scope? ,, thanks
The Captain's wheel is used to rotate the focuser for framing with a camera.
@@SkyWatcherUSA thank you 👍
I’ve had my Esprit 120 for about two years. Never regretted the purchase. Everything was well thought out.

Thank you Kevin, very nice overview. I look forward to seeing a webcast on the Evolux line for when they will get out. Hopefully soon ; )

Not yet, but we’ll be adding lots of tutorial videos this year so we’ll keep that one in mind, thanks.
I'm curious why? You spend so much time on the tube for flexure but completely ignore the dew shield by adding 2 thumb screws
I find if you crank them down it doesn’t really move…no way for me to clean the objective lens though as dew shield won’t come off or unscrew

So how are you finding the Esprit?
Will the esprit 150 not go on an Azeq6gt? When very carefully balanced?
Visually it's ok but imaging it would be too much.

My experience with QC coming from SW so far ensure they will not be touching premium brands let alone mid entry…they have lots of work to do 😠
